Now the Sebring is out of the way. I've just arranged to go, €25 for a ticket seems quite passable, who else is making the trip?
-
I'd love to go as its years since I've been to Spa. Will have to wait and see how things are going nearer the time.
Deffo going to Silverstone this year though.
-
24 again for us so we just can't justify this on top, sadly. But I admit I'm more tempted this year now it's part of the world championship.
-
DfH with a big group!
i have booked my ticket today
-
I'll be there :)
-
I'm there !
-
I shall certainly be there.
There's a super bar/lounge over the pits and start/finish area with live timing screens. Shame about the bizarre payment system at the bar, though. You have to buy tokens in batches (multiples of 5, IIRC) and then pay at the bar according to how many tokens your order amounts to. It may eliminate theft of cash by the bar staff, but it's bloody annoying.
Slightly more expensive this year, as parking is no longer free unless you buy 3 entrance tickets, but hell, camping is free (nothing in the way of facilities), the circuit is fantastic and it's in a very pleasant part of Belgium.

Traded in HubbypointsTM, and I now have a pass for this 8) 8) 8)
See you all on the Friday.
-
Olly and I be going over on the thursday as per last year!!! ;D
-
I have just used the promotional code on the Dover - Dunkirk route that "Vegas" mentioned last year .......and it works!!! .Original price for the trip across for 3rd to 6th of May is £61, and if you type in "merde" in the promo code box, the price for the crossing drops to £25.
Which means you have an extra £35 for beers for Paddys birthday bash ;D

really? Now I know I had a few beers that weekend but I could have sworn that you went over on the same ferry as me and that was on Friday.

I will be in Holland that weekend, so Spa stays on my "To Do" list for a bit longer....
:)
-
Bob,
I also went over for the 24 hour GT race in July with Rick and Tink.

I'll post here also, as I didn't get any response on other enquiries.
Through http://www.spafiawec.com/ you can preorder your tickets, and for every 3 tickets you get a free parking permit. If preordering as a hassle for the brits, I'm happy to help out.

Last year it was collecting the tickets! Take note last year the ticket was in English but there was a little comment in French stating that you needed to collect your ticket in Spa Francorchamps village not at the gate.

Cheers, that is helpful to know, though the web page does have a bit about "ticket not yet shipped". Will keep an eye on it. Whereabouts in the villiage to collect from?
-
They are now on Impression à domicile, which means as much as 'print at home'. My guess is, I'll get a PDF that I print out at home.

Then you need to exchange the printed voucher for a bracelet on the day in the village. Last time it was in one the hotels, we found ten minutes before the start meaning we had to buy new tickets!
Carefully read the whole thing, try and collect the tickets on the Thursday.
-
Sander and I will be there! Woolly is coming in our car too :D

As far as Spa is concerned, another virgin here.
Are you allowed out to play Brad?
-
Will book Dover - Dunkirk as soon as I know Hayley's time.

I wanted to be there, but I'm flying to Chicago for work on 5th :(

Are you allowed out to play Brad?
sadly not - The wife is now heavily pregnant, and Sebring was a bit of a draw for me (in as much as I didn't like leaving her) - That close to the birth it's just not going to be possible. A shame really as I've never been to spa, and would love to be out there - Alas it seems babies re-align your perspective on these things!
-
Alas it seems babies re-align your perspective on these things!
True, but once they are a bit older you can start collecting HubbypointsTM and then trade them in to get to races.

What are these HubbypointsTM you speak of? And why on earth do you need them?
-
I'm quite lucky with my wife - she's pretty relaxed about me disappearing around the world to go racing - so grabbing Hubbypoints isn't such a big deal - just a degree of sensibleness given how pregnant she is!
Rest assured, I'll be back very shortly. >:D >:D

I've always wondered that too...

Toyota won't be there: http://www.toyotahybridracing.com/toyota-racing-to-delay-season-debut/ (http://www.toyotahybridracing.com/toyota-racing-to-delay-season-debut/)
-
Sadly won't be going this year, but planning (as ever) to try and fit it in next year.
Shame about Toyota not going, but looking forward to their debut at Le Mans, and will also be seeing them at Silverstone ;D
-
Have finally booked ferry (Thurs pm & Sunday Lunchtime), and I have spare seats if any one wants a lift over
-
Been ages since I was on here last, going to be at paddy's BD bash, and might as well stay for the race!
-
good news!
-
Still hoping to go along with OJ for Paddy's bash. Brought the tickets, so a shame to waste the money, fingers crossed it'll work out.
-
Is there an English commentary at the circuit that you can pick up on radio, like LM?
-
Weather forecast : 9° C and rain !
-
Is there an English commentary at the circuit that you can pick up on radio, like LM?
Last year Radio LM broadcast at the circuit on 106.0 FM. Let's hope they do this w/e too.

Thanks for the heads up on that Christopher, was about to ditch the radio out the bag.

If you're heading to Spa today or tomorrow, keep in mind that there are major roadworks on allmost all the roads to the track. E40 in Barchon is on smaller lanes, max speed 90 km/h (watch out for radar) and at the final part of the E42 before the exit Francorchamps there's only one lane open. You could take the exit Spa and then head to Francorchamps over the B-roads.
Leave early, 'cause it could be a real pain to get to the track tomorrow.
-
thanks for the update!!
-
Thanks for the heads up, aiming at leaving Zwijndrecht (just south of Rotterdam) around 1 pm..

Just trying to think of who Steve reminds me of.
Comic or actor? - just can't think of name.
-
Tony Hancock?
-
Feeling much better now thank you ;D
What a cracking weekend. A little moist at times but a superb trek around the circuit, first class curried Bob and a soupcon of Leffe helped to keep the rain out.
Big thanks to all.

What a great weekend despite the rain and mud, really suprised that it was a dry race. Fifth time at Spa but the first time I'd walked the whole circuit. What a fantastic place, now need to do the 24 hour there.
Great traveling companions and and good company on the campsite. I now know someone who can give Ian Wills and Canada Phil a run for their money in the snoring stakes. Noisy Bastard.

Been playing (a lot) with contrast ... like it ? or not ?

Love it... very striking

Great photo Dottore. 8)

Really like it, has the texture of a painting rather than photo and somehow a slightly old fashioned quality to it.

Great improvement on a damp, cloudy, poorly lit day.
-
Dottore, love it ;D
I've nearly finished looking through / editing mine, but they don't come close to yours.

That sounds familiar, - I'm sure that was how my GP described my arse last time I was in there for something personal.
Great pic D.

very nice :)
