After all, it was fair piddling it down for the bikes.
And yes, I know, 'it always rains at Le Mans'
-
Was good to watch from the comfort of a warm dry sofa tho!
:)

I anticipate that the main concern this year, weather wise at least, is that it will be almost too sunny at times and borderline "bloody hot"
More beer anyone?
;D

Ah yes, the dear old LM weather. Most bizarre times for me were the contrast between 2000 (the hottest race on record) and 2001 (the wettest race on record .. and probably the windiest too!). Somewhere inbetween would be fine ;D

I can assure you there will be weather at Le Mans this year. >:D >:D >:D >:D >:D

Hi Rick,
having survived both those i am all set for another year.
See you at the races.

Don't fancy the 37 degrees and high humidity that we got for the Classic in 2010. Somewhere in the low to mid 20's would be ideal.

Remember that far too well unfortunately! Was stuck out at the Playstation chicane on the Friday afternoon shooting grids 3, 4 and 5 during practice with insufficient water and no sunhat. Silly boy. Nice marshall took pity on me, told me to move away from my camera and poured a bottle of (non-drinking) water over me to cool me off! Helped a bit ;)

I see Accuweather has invested in either a megacomputer or mystic meg as they now forecast up to 25 days in advance see below ???

My money's on Mystic Meg....

Lazy B, you mention the 37 degrees for the classic a few years ago, that's the sort of temps they're calling for this Sunday, for the Indianapolis 500. Good fricking grief its going to be hot & muggy. On top of that I'm still recovering from a nasty motorbike fall that left me with several broken ribs and some injuries to my left leg. This ought to be a barrel of laughs, but it'll be my 40th 500 so have to grit it out.

Hi Fax,
Sorry to hear of your injuries. Hope it does not hurt to breathe. While I am off to Cambridge Ohio on 2 wheels this week end you should keep an eye out for Dirk and Marc of DfH as they will be at Indy.
Phil
-
Thanks for the well wishes Phil, unfotunately it hurts to breathe, bend, lay down, sit up, etc (coughing or sneezing feels like the little bugger from alien is popping out of your chest). I've heard horror stories about broken ribs, but nothing compares to actually being through it. That said, there are colleagues of ours on here who have had to deal with much worse, so I'm not going to bitch & complain too loud. Hope the guys from DFH have a great time in Indy, like I said, its going to be a scorcher. We're in our usual location in stand J at the exit of turn four, coming onto the pit staright.

Get well soon Fax and take it easy. I've broken a few ribs over the last few years and dislocated one last year. That really hurts especially when you have to pedal a heavy DH bike a few miles back to civilisation!
I'm not good in hot weather. The last classic was slightly marred by the heat for me. It was just too hot even to drink beer! Driving the old Alfa through the traffic was a bitch with the heater on full blast to keep the motor cool and that big exhaust just under the drivers footwell melted my favourite driving shoes and blistered my feet. Must fit more heat insulation on the new one.

Which you couldn't on the circuit, 'cos all the bars beer machinery couldn't cope with the heat and broke down.
Must have cost them a fortune in lost sales.
-
Thanks for the thoughts LB, as you said, trying to take it easy, as much as work will allow anyway.
Agreed, I don't deal well with heat either. I have a bad habit of not staying hydrated enough and really get a bad case of the wobblies.
We usually bring bottled water in the coolers along with the beer, but I think this Sunday at IMS, it might be a good idea to actually drink the water. instead of carrying it in, and then back to the car after the race.

Which explaines why they tried to ban beerbottles last year, trying to make up for lost revenue.... ;D

Hey John,
sorry to hear of you accident with the scoot.
Get well soon.

Thanks Nobby, it gets better everyday. The Kawasaki came out it better than I did, I broke her fall.
This is a nice little article from The weather Channel regarding Sunday's Indianapolis 500, we're toast...

Just found this weather site (foreign, but Chrome translates it well). I like the info on it.

Bloody hot at Le Mans at the minute. Has already been up to 34 degrees this week. Weather looking good for the next few weeks (but never trust the French weather forcasts!)

#Seeing as you are local, could you keep us up to date with any forecasts there please 8)

Will do :)

Or you can ask me ;-)

still in the high 20's this week :)
-
Its peaking to early!
Needs to rain for the next week or so.
-
AccuWeather showing it as rain for race weekend now, plenty of time for that to improve though, and it will! ;)
-
Looks like a wet start to the week nothing worse than putting tents up in the rain. Hang on....... could be at home staring at the old lady with her pointing out jobs around the house that need doing ( Bring on the downpour ) >:D >:D >:D

Hi Fax! it was indeed a scorcher, but very entertaining, great time, good fun! we must have been close since we had a spot in stand J as well, section 26 :)

still in the high 20's this week :)
I'll bet it's not this week!
I drove through La Sarthe on Sat returning to Lux from the Vendée, but I know the "Oest France" region will be cooler, and wetter, this week.

I wouldn't take your money, I'm not rich enough to pay out! Dull and windy with rain forecast until at least Thursday. I rarely look beyond three day ahead. After all we were promised an inch of rain during the day yesterday and the track barely got damp for more than a few minutes.
-
raining again today

Race in the rain = nice pictures ;D

And a bloody good race it was too in 1995 with the rain.......

But fewer finishers.
Forecast for next week is a mixture of sunshine and showers so there should be plenty of tent pitching dry spells available. Temps low 20s so ideal, imho.
-
Low 20s is good! Bit of rain to keep the dust down and chill the beer at night.
-
Went up to see the state of the sites today and was pleasantly surprised. The worst is always Beauséjour, which is clay based and gets very wet, but they've already cut the hay down and it is firm underfoot. For the rest, most are sandy soil so no worries. bright sunshine after horrendous rain in the night, grass growing as you look at it, and as Termie says, about the same all next week.

And the Bentley submarine impression in 2001... such foul weather gave me cause to invest in a certain van for 2002...

Now that is the $64,000 question.

The only thing I am ever optomistic about is the weather at LM, so I've just packed sun tan cream. :o

Sun or rain,

Neil,
At least you don't have to pitch a tent in the rain ;)
Jules
-
Jules.....even if Niel had to pitch a tent .....it only takes 2 seconds with a Quechea tent ;D

And it takes 15 minutes & 2 attempts to put the tent back in it's bag doesn't it Wishy? ;D

So, if I pack 15 umbrella's, 10 raincoats and 18 pairs of rainboots, it will be sunny? ;)

a) A rectangular courtyard 17m long by 9¼m wide is to be covered by square paving slabs each of side ½m. Calculate the number of paving slabs which will be required.
b) A different area to be paved needs 390 slabs. Given that one-third of these cost £1.20 each and the remainder cost £1.40 each, calculate the total cost of the slabs.

Horizontal rain in pit lane today, and 9C this morning, rising to a heady 13C at the moment (2pm). 1st Tickets marquee just held together yesterday, and they put big spikes in the ground to hold it in place now. Bring the cossie.

Bring the cossie.
With those temperatures, I think a wet suit will be more appropriate.
-
According to my weather app there's no more than a 40% chance of rain on any given day at the moment.
Weds might be the wettest - probably around the time I arrive on site and try to set up my tent.

That's about the time I get there.
I would have thought that WWR would provide a man to put up your tents for you. ;)

Ade......only if you don't read the instructions ;D

We had one like that last year.
Couldn't work out how to fold it away, so dumped it and 30 seconds later the pikey's grabbed it!
Most. Amusing.
