Title: Montoya McLaren bound in 2005
Post by: Fax on November 17, 2003, 10:59:01 pm
Besides the unfortunate news that Richard Burns is not well I suppose the other big news, although it's merely confirming what everyone knew all along, is that Montoya has signed for McLaren in 2005.  Now I know that there are more than a few F1 dectractors on CA, self included, but this could be very entertaining. The pairing of Montoya & Raikkonen has more than a little potential for fireworks, these are probably the two fastest and most fearless men to sit in a racing car these days and I suspect Ron Dennis will have his hands full trying to keep these guys under control.  Makes for a interesting contrast, Latin American fire paired with Scandinavian ice.
Roll on '05!

Ron Dennis with his hands full with that pairing, in this day and age of the commercial corporate biz spectacle?  Come on, the man had Prost and Senna together when men raced and the only rule was not to punt each other off - well, Prost and Senna ignored that one.   Raikonnen and Montoya will be a breeze by comparison. ;)  Who will replace Montoya (an probably Schumacher R by 2005 at Williams?

I guess it will be Button as he is still under contract to them, but there will be some 17 year old who has driven a car twice that can not speak and as intresting as a wet day in somewere boring will get the job.

Not punting each other off , changing the topic , slghly , those of you who watch MOTO GP maybe like me , very sad that John Hopkins recived such a huge ban ( 1 race ) for having a race with someone else . No one hurt .

Lets get racing back to the older days of rubbin.....

Oh McLaren , that will be a top team hopefully , 2005.

So can we write 2004 off already......

Actually, I think Button's contract with Williams has elapsed.  Gene would seem a likely canidate, a returning Button as well.  However if Williams continue with their theme of looking at Indy car drivers as well as F3 & F3000 (JV, Montoya)  Sebastien Bourdais would be a very good young driver to give a look at.  I can't see the Montoya-Raikkonen pairing ever breaking down to the lows of the Senna-Prost days,  neither JPM or Kimi have ever seemed as unstable as Senna.  I could see it getting tense in a Mansell-Piquet sort of way.

And McLaren have Lewis Hamilton under contract/Ron Dennis' wing, and he too is expected to be in F1 within 2-3 years

buttons contract has expired but lets hope he may well go back. i feel williams will do well over the next 2-3 years and i hope frank gets an english man on board. i think mclaren have a good chance of doing it next year, they have had a year of development on their new car after all.
and 2005. with may be a non penalised passing manouver or two, can't wait. ;D
