Title: Tetre Rouge Post by: Lord Steve on February 04, 2014, 08:46:15 pm It's my 20th anniversary trip this year and, for the first time, I find myself on Tetre Rouge. This campsite gets good reports but I wondered what first hand experience fellow Club Arnagers have had.
Title: Re: Tetre Rouge Post by: Fisherman on February 06, 2014, 09:21:39 pm We wouldn't camp anywhere else, what would you like to know?
Title: Re: Tetre Rouge Post by: hgb on February 06, 2014, 09:43:46 pm It's a bit busy because the whole lot of traffic is going through... no, not cars but people pi$$ing all about ? I've never camped there. Also, isn't a bit far away from all the partying for you.I would try to stay as close as I can.
Title: Re: Tetre Rouge Post by: Fisherman on February 06, 2014, 10:21:07 pm There's no traffic passing through the campsite itself, the marshals do a very good job on the gates with passouts, there's some noise noticeable from the motorway early in the week when the site and track are quiet, obviously it's noisy from the track during the race & practise but that's what you get for camping trackside.
I was shocked when I first visited other campsites & saw that anyone who wanted could wander in and out. Title: Re: Tetre Rouge Post by: Steve TTTD on February 07, 2014, 09:54:10 am Been on TR every time I've gone sinec 1999 apart from two years where I left it too late to get tickets and eneded up in Bleu Nord.
I wouldn't camp elsewhere, It's quieter than most of the other sites and feels more 'Protected' while the race is on. If you get tere early enough or are creative with your wiring it's also possible to get an electric supply as well. Title: Re: Tetre Rouge Post by: Black Granny on February 07, 2014, 12:06:58 pm Allways camped on Tetre Rouge or it's predecessor Panorama since I first went in 1981. Good access to the track, spaces not numbered (or at least last year they weren't) showers and toilet blocks, water taps and possibly electric hook up. As other have said a bit noisy during race and practice (depending on the number of diesels) with regular helicopter pass overs. Booked again for this year so look forward to seeing you and making sure your tax returns are in order
Title: Re: Tetre Rouge Post by: Lord Steve on February 08, 2014, 02:08:33 pm Thanks everyone. I like the idea of better security and being close to the track during the race. Sounds good to me.
Title: Re: Tetre Rouge Post by: Fisherman on February 08, 2014, 03:30:06 pm When are you due to arrive your Lordship?
Title: Re: Tetre Rouge Post by: Lord Steve on February 08, 2014, 05:12:19 pm I think my train gets in to Le Mans station at around 2pm Thursday.
Title: Re: Tetre Rouge Post by: Fisherman on February 08, 2014, 08:51:29 pm Are you joining an advance party? There'll still be spaces but the best will be long gone by then
Title: Re: Tetre Rouge Post by: Lord Steve on February 08, 2014, 09:10:21 pm Yeah, the Tres Hombres Racing advanced party will be there before me. With a bit of luck they'll have my tent etected and a cold one waiting for me!
Title: Re: Tetre Rouge Post by: Ade on February 08, 2014, 10:32:17 pm I think my train gets in to Le Mans station at around 2pm Thursday. With fair weather & a following wind we should arrive at Le Mans station at 2:40 PM Title: Re: Tetre Rouge Post by: Lord Steve on February 09, 2014, 09:56:38 am Ah, I wasn't far out. Thanks Ade.
Title: Re: Tetre Rouge Post by: clkgtrlm1 on February 10, 2014, 11:00:56 am Easy access to the titty bar at Tertre Rouge I suppose!
Title: Re: Tetre Rouge Post by: Lord Steve on February 10, 2014, 08:50:41 pm Titty bar? I didn't see any tits the last time I was in there. Lots of people in the Stella Bar behaving like tits!
Are we talking about the same place? Title: Re: Tetre Rouge Post by: gt6 on February 12, 2014, 01:47:13 pm Have used TR for the last 10 years at least and it is perfect for us, same people each year so most of the regulars know each other and keep an eye out for anything suspicious, security is very tight and no one gets in unless they are camping there, facilities are good but electric connection not far short of alarming sometimes. Handy for everything short walk to dunlop bridge and village.
Campsite is mostly occupied by english and dutch with a few years under the belt so the parties are quieter than some other campsites, If you are happy to watch the cars come under the dunlop bridge and through to TR you can leave the campsite at 2 minutes to 3 and still get a good view. If you arrive early space is good but fills up quickly, easy to get into town using either car, bike or tram or even walking 10 minutes to carrefore. We will be there as usual in June Title: Re: Tetre Rouge Post by: Lord Steve on February 12, 2014, 10:03:00 pm Well that is about as good as it gets and just about all I need from a campsite. Au revoir Maison Blanche et Bonjour Tetre Rouge!
Title: Re: Tetre Rouge Post by: Canada Phil on February 13, 2014, 03:06:44 am Hi Lord Steve,
It would seem that you will be behind the security of a fence. If you are allowed out we would be happy to see you over at Blu Nord where there is always warm beer waiting ;D Phil Title: Re: Tetre Rouge Post by: Lord Steve on February 13, 2014, 07:00:54 am Thanks Phil, that's damned decent of you dear chap. It was, of course, my intention to visit chums on BN and MB and gratefully accept your kind offer of a warm one. Cheers!
Title: Re: Tetre Rouge Post by: gt6 on February 13, 2014, 10:51:38 am Well it will be good to welcome a real Le mans regular to the site, glad you managed to get a pass, TR camping passes are hard to get and only rarely seen advertised for sale anywhere, rocking horse poo is easier to obtain
Title: Re: Tetre Rouge Post by: Barry on February 13, 2014, 07:53:50 pm Thanks Phil, that's damned decent of you dear chap. And then you have the challenge of getting back to TR. ;D Title: Re: Tetre Rouge Post by: Fisherman on February 13, 2014, 08:44:13 pm Remember, it's uphill to Tetre Rouge from anywhere!
Title: Re: Tetre Rouge Post by: gt6 on February 13, 2014, 09:03:39 pm So it is the last place to flood if it rains, not that it will rain this year the weather will be warm and dry
Title: Re: Tetre Rouge Post by: Lord Steve on February 13, 2014, 09:46:09 pm I've had a look on www.sunshinesontherighteous.com and it is expected that Le Mans will be bathed in glorious sunshine between 10th and 17th June. Furthermore www.propermotorracing.org predicts that with 1 hr to go to the end of the race the first five cars will be within two minutes of each other with Mark Webber charging hard through the field. Scantily clad maidens will be touring the campsites with Leffe at €3 a bottle, chilled to perfection and a mobile tartiflette van will be at our disposal. The new village will have been dismantled and replaced by the old dust bowl we came to know and love.
ahhhhhh Title: Re: Tetre Rouge Post by: gt6 on February 14, 2014, 09:41:42 am that sounds perfect, can't ask for more. if i was not already going i would be rushing to book up and ordering my sun tan lotion
Title: Re: Tetre Rouge Post by: gatordad on February 14, 2014, 03:42:37 pm Didn't take this thread to degenerate to the least common denominator did it?
Speaking of TR, what have the marshals done with the armco and the trees at the turn a la Alan Simonson?
