Someone planning to go there?
-
I intend to go, but haven't yet worked out whether just for the race or the weekend.
-
I should be there on the Sunday for WEC, working Saturday.
Reminder that it's Easter weekend, so special passes may be required for some to get there. ;)
But as a bonus you may get out of seeing the MiL.
Is a large German contingent expected to see THE debut Werner?
-
I'll be there Sat & Sun.
-
I'll be there all 3 days, but working
-
Sunday only
-
Friday morning (mate very inconsiderately getting married in the afternoon!) and then Sunday. Possibly Saturday too :)
-
Yep !

I don't think so - but you never know... Not sure if I'll be there myself, it was just a thought which crossed my mind 2 days ago. Cheap flights to London are available though and there seems to be a camping option (Whittlebury? - Is it any good?)
-
Whittlebury is nice actually.
Don't tell them you know us, whatever you do >:D >:D
I am half planning on being there on Sunday with my son, for his third WEC round (he'll be the grand old age of 21 months by then...)
-
I notice that on the Silverstone website only Whittlebury is shown as being available - no Woodlands or Litchlake. I don't mind Whittlebury but the walk to the circuit through the wood is no longer available and the transport alternative is a bit of a palaver.
-
was hoping to go sat & sun for both ELMS & WEC but alas mates stag do is sat so only WEC it will be!!
-
Meet up Sat night for those of us there or Sunday lunch for WEC?
-
The two Rebellion R-One's have now been listed instead of the grandfathered Lola's on the original entry list!
-
when i camped at the golf course i had 15 flags in my tent.terrible nights sleep.
-
Just two keys between the F and the S on your keyboard, eh Lofty??

I've found out today that this is not correct. Please see message copied from email received.
, I am sorry that you have heard this untrue rumour, I would appreciate it if you could let me know
where you have heard this from so that we can put a stop to it.
The walkway into the Circuit from the campsite is open as usual as this is also a public right of way and this takes you into Copse corner.
We will also be running a shuttle in the morning and again late afternoon that will take you to gate 9 which is Beckets corner.
We look forward to seeing you soon.
Kind regards
Penny

Hi Steve
I think we met a few years ago at the same meeting. It was the year Debs (termie) had the trouble with her keys. I'm the hopeless git who was up the slope with the cobra replica that had no traction on the grass.
Were the gates shut last year due to wet weather and some misguided health and safety concerns?
Through a friend it appears that I am now Whittlebury's most wanted, as my good lady asked them to confirm over the phone that there was a problem with access on foot. They confirmed this and said that a shuttle was in operation. Then today, the written response I have posted was sent to a friend who has booked already, apparently correcting the previous information.
In the light of what they sent today I thought it was only fair to ensure a correction was put up.
Apparently the path through the woods is a public footpath/bridleway which must be open.
I hope this helps and I look forward to seeing you there.
Colin.

Who on earth could have given Termie problems with her keys?? :-\
-
Needless to say " You are going nowhere near my keys when we go to Spa"
-
Brad,
It was 2011 when Deb managed to lock both sets of her car keys in her car & had to get someone to break a side window to retrieve them.
Colin,
Yes, you did meet Lord Steve & me that year.

That's good. I never fully trust my memory!
Will you be there this year? We've now booked Whittlebury following their comments.

Brad,
It was 2011 when Deb managed to lock both sets of her car keys in her car & had to get someone to break a side window to retrieve them.
. And it was 2012 when Brad was called home and still had Deb's keys in his pocket.
-
Right, I'm up to speed now. If I'm right, the path through the woods IS open. However, I have a doubt whether I can make the event now. Bugger!

Bless her - there was something about that race and her keys!
-
i might pop in on the saturday night-sunday morning, who is still going?
-
Even if it's snowing I'm going, but Sunday only.
SWMBO has invited her entire family round for Easter Sunday. :o
Hope they have buggered off before I get home. ;D
-
I can't make it this year >:(, work to do at home.
-
I'll be there, with child, and the old man.....
I believe BobU is coming, as well as potential appearances from Andy Zarse (come on mate - the littlun would love it!), JDS and the above mentioned - Jason is, I believe, dressing up as a marshall and trying to con his way onto the pit lane exit, again.....
There will be no camping from me.....
Bring waterproofs - much potential for rain!!
-
I'll be there, got approval of my credentials on Monday (will cover the whole ELMS season, fingers crossed to get credentials at the big one)
-
3 days ago I was looking at the forecast and wondering if I might get the shorts out. Now it's wetsuits and life jackets.
Hope to see some of you there, have to wear a DfH cap on top of the waterproofs to spot anyone.
-
Yep just watched the BBC weather. looking good for Friday and Saturday but Sunday looks horrible
-
hmmm will see how it goes then :)
-
I was think of going with the kid... but given the forecast rain I'll think I'll give it a miss!
-
Thanks Brad :) Yup, I'm doing my 2nd favourite job in the pit lane (as little as possible)
Forecasts aren't that good:
BBC : http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/2637827
Accuweather: http://www.accuweather.com/en/gb/towcester/nn12-6/hourly-weather-forecast/330016?hour=89
-
Not going , away in Taormina, Italy
But don't worry, I will there in spirit, it's raining here as well.
Oh well practice for Le Mans, abroad & beer/wine
-
Friday will be the best day, getting steadily worse over the weekend. Almost certainly going to be a wet race, at least at some point.

Twas a little cold today in the wind, bring something warm tomorrow...
Still had a great time though and not quite as cold as some of those June nights in a field in France.
-
For those like me who can't make it to Silverstone this year, the race is live on Motors tv tomorrow.
Sky 447, Virgin 545 or Freeview 240.

Looking forward to race day tomorrow ;D
-
The Met Office is now forecasting no rain today!
Seems that the depression over France hasn't moved as far north as expected.
Still going to be bastard cold and windy.
See you all there shortly.
-
Met office currently (8:40am) showing:
Cloudy 12:00 to 16:00
40% chance of showers 16:00 to 00:00
-
Met was wrong ... First drops fallung down right now.
-
Some great shots by Dottore of the Audi #2 accident.

Brilliant photos. 30 mins to go and Toyota asking the race director to stop the race due to weather conditions.

Well done and top marks for tenacity! I was in the start/finish stand, and then get sodden just getting back into the car to leave. Took half an hour on full demist and heat to dry out while driving through the downpour.
All in all an interesting season opener in different ways, toyota and audi close, porsche not far behind, good battles in the classes, fun and games in the greasy moments between dry and wet during the race.

A very soggy end to good day. By the time I got back to the car I was thoroughly wet and I'm drying the inside of the car at the moment. I was initially doubtful about the Red Flag but once out of the cover of the stand it was clearly the only sensible decision. Audi will be wondering how it all went so wrong but a good result for Toyota and pleased with the debut podium for Porsche and Webber. Hopefully we won't get repeat of the deluge in June :).
