Out on the Pompy ferry to Caen Tuesday night, back on the Sunday night.
Staying on Houx.
Just me and my son Tristan (13 and on his 4th Le Mans).
T will probably be wearing his Fez around the ferry bar and Le Mans (it was a feather boa last year).
Say hi if you want any advice on Dr Who, the Beano, bar room lawyer views on discrimination of children (childism apparently), who's going to win LM, and how lost he's going to get us on the navigation down (no toll roads, no sat nav, just maps - well he is a Scout). Just make sure that you have a chair, ;D he doesn't know what brevity is.

so are you saying avoid a 13 year old in a Fez, unless we have a spare 1hour?
and I bet your glad he does not drink, yet (or may be he does)
Sounds like you will both have fun, anyway ;D

Yes, Tristan is good fun, and yes, the conversation can take some time.
He's not a shy retiring one - he may also be wearing a feather boa (sorry to anyone in the bar on the way back that he "feathered").
He's not on the beer yet so I can depend on his getting us back.

Me and son Callum (25) - first pilgrimage for us both since 2004.
Thought about buying an MGF for the trip, but no room for tent as well as man-bags. Then contemplated a Mazda MX5 (more boot space and a lot more reliable) but money IS an object :o. Was then offered the use of a Mercedes SL500 (nice but thirsty ) but that is suffering gearbox issues. So we will be in Callum's Focus Sport 1.6 ::)

Objective : drink, eat, drink, repeat !
-
Hello all. Team YFDS is back this year!
We will be staying at Maison Blanche.
I myself will come down Wednesday late afternoon and leave Monday morning. The USA contingent arrives on Friday (except two guys, who will be there Wednesday too) and leaves Sunday night.
BTW -- anybody we can leech some electricity from in exchange for some fine French beer?? :D I will bring an extension cord or two.
BTW2 -- anybody know how the MB campsites are laid out? We're in section Q.
edit: Nevermind about the MB map, found the 2009 one elsewhere on the forum.
-
Thought about buying an MGF for the trip, but no room for tent as well as man-bags.

ps - each year we have fun with the French getting onto Arnage on Tuesday as it only opens on Wednesday (allegedly). In the event we fail this year, if anyone is prepared to loan a ticket for any other site for 1 night only, Tuesday, would be much appreciated. Have in mind the need to yell for help (if we need it) late Tuesday and be gone by sparrow fart on Weds. Please pm me.

My old M5 failed its annual MOT. Again. :( Nothing too difficult just a cut front tyre and handbrake. Still with just a week to sort it out, it just adds to the fun. :-\
-
My old M5 failed its annual MOT.
E28 or E34 ?

E28 or E34 ?
Alas, not that classic, just an e39, so none of the value and all of the costs.
Last year I put on Michelin Pilot Super Sports - had to import them into the UK from the US because Michelin didn't make them available in the UK in the size of my rears, unfortunately my wife was spotted that they only lasted me a year. Still, it was fun around Spa Francochamps!

Pete,
I like that ferry. A lot of locals come out to photograph the flashier cars coming back, so it feels like a bit of a welcome. The bar is a good place to say goodbye to this years trip before getting a bit of sleep.
I haven't found a good place to get breakfast once ashore now as all the local Little Chefs have gone (M27 and A3), unless anyone knows of anywhere?

What time does the ferry arrive - or I'd suggest there's a Harvester at Port Solent, opens 9:00a.m?

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm guessing that we'll have a reasonable amount of time in Ouistreham to grab a meal and a beer while watching the other Sunday night returnees. Probably a similar atmosphere to when we usually come back on the Monday 16:30 sailing then.
As for a beer in the ferry bar, it would be rude not to ;)
We'll grab breakfast on the ferry so no worries on that front. Thanks anyway for suggesting the Port Solent Harvester. There's also a huge 24Hr Tesco on the same site where I know we can stock up on snacks for our schlep back to South Wales.

Unfortunately I have injured my back. This is making walking very slow and painful.
I hope to keep to my original plans and be on the Pompy Caen ferry tonight, but may have to add a hotel on Wednesday night.
Changing the ferry at this stage doesn't give any good options.
If you see me making my way to the bar very slowly, it isn't through lack of desire.
See you there (I hope)
