In the build up to Le Mans, there's been a lot of furious plate spinning with work, a house move impending, and the missus recovering from her hip replacement 8 weeks ago (of the replacement joint she had done 8 years ago which was failing). Or rather not recovering, as she fell and comprehensively bollocksed it and the associated femur last Sunday....... went down like the proverbial sack of and it took an hour just to get her onto a stretcher.
Unsurprisingly, she's been pretty shite in hospital since and was operated on yesterday. Lenghty op over 6 hours, but they've done a great job of replacing it (again) and piecing together the damage with plates, wire and pins; she's in better shape today and will be due release (assuming good behaviour) over the weekend or on monday. For all that knock it, the NHS wins out on this one, from ambulance crew, to A&E, and the theatre and ward staffs alike
Bless her, she's been absolutely unshakeably adamant throughout it, before the op and after, that I must go to le mans. Indeed, I have been ordered to go.. In all conscience, I can't set off as planned on monday but rather, all being well and thanks to her, mates are taking my kit out in advance and I'll head out there on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday by train (having found out that le mans is only 6 hours from home by eurostar/tgv) to join them.
So, in public declaration - I love Deb, my missus.
And I hope to see you all there this year thanks to her

You have a good 'un, I hope she recovers well
The NHS has kept me around countless times, bless 'em too
My missus is still telling me to get my act together and BLOODY GO
They're great aren't they…
No still not going this year, too much on but I will have to try not to be a pain in the arras while I'm here ;)

Sorry to hear about the problems but relieved to hear that Deb is recovering. Yes A&E and the NHS saved Lois' life a few years ago, so a big thumbs to them. Fantastic that you are still able to make it. Please reassure Deb that we will make sure that you still manage to consume seven days worth of Le Mans alcohol, even if it has to be condensed into only three or four days.
See you there.

Speedy recovery to her, and speedy train journey to you.

You have a good one there - the best to the both of you.

You'd betty find a bottle of something really decent to bring back for her

Anyone see the flag some had on the Rugby League match earlier? Something along the lines of "my missus told me it was Wigan or her.... I'll miss her..."
Nice one Mark, look forward to seeing you there!!!!

Thanks chaps, she is indeed worthy of recognition and generous presents. She's improved day by day and passed the physio's test today, so parole approved tomorrow. Touch wood, looking good for a wednesday trip to la Sarthe.
For Gary, I suspect she will need no reassurance that I will attempt to compress normal consumption into the time available!
