Title: WiFi at the circuit
Post by: aricus654 on June 13, 2014, 06:03:15 pm

I noticed a guy using an ipad in the stands looking at material very similar to the screen you used to get on a Kangaroo TV.  I'm not sure it was the official LM24 app - any ideas?

Also, I notice that there is wifi - it looks like it's for ACO members,

Does anyone know or can confirm?

Whaaaaaattttt????

Blimey that's a bit steep.

So it doesn't come as part of an ACO package?

As a basic level ACO member I am supposedly entitled to free WiFi and was duly given access credentials when checking in to the Welcome centre (after asking). I must say I found it of little use as there never seemed to be a signal wherever I was. Will give it a go again next year. I'm guessing like most IT things and the ACO, it takes a while to get it going properly....

Aricus - I was using the ACO live internet streaming when at my hotel for the latter part of Thursday's qualifying and the timing screens etc. did have a similar look to the Kangaroo stuff of old.

We used the new ACO building opposite MB [inside track]

Despite being given a code we could not access the much fabled WiFi.

Paul,
I went there on Sunday morning, asked for a WiFi code and was straight online on my trusty Samsung Galaxy S4.  A few minutes sorting emails whilst drinking beer in a comfy(ish) chair in the new ACO member hospitality area.

Steve,

What level of membership to you need to have to get access - do you get it at the basic level?

Aricus, my membership card says Passion 24 VIP which is the mid level (gives discount on tickets)  http://www.passion-24.org/htm/passion.asp (http://www.passion-24.org/htm/passion.asp)

The cheapest ACO membership at €39/year will give you access to the ACO stand (good showers & khazis!) and the members' enclosures. When in the enclosures you ask a receptionist for a wifi code and they're free.

I blame my iPhone then!
