Title: Girls at Le Mans
Post by: aricus654 on June 15, 2014, 09:54:19 pm

I know that this year's race was a big crowd - did anyone else notice that there was a large number of women and children?

- it even looked unsafe to use the women's toilets on the campsites!

Btw - I am a supporter of more women attending  >:D, just haven't seen as many before.

Brought my daughter Debby down this year, she's wanted to come for years, she thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and is already planning for next year. We arrived really late on Thursday and were off before race end, so I missed out on seeing a lot of old friends as there simply wasn't time. Debby also commented that there were more women than she expected, though they are still in a small minority around the campsites.

The "facilities" really are poor in my opinion, for both sexes, but she coped better with that than I thought she might. As a general point I do think they ought to have a few more facilities around the campsites, to save the long walk - even some of those plastic huts would be better than nothing. I can feel an email to the ACO coming on...

When I saw the thread title, I though it was Dave and his "24 arses" of LM vote :D

Smokie; Canvas Kev Mk 3,  as he went with his GF again this year.

I was thinking yesterday that there were more girls at Le Mans this year, and I'd agree there were also more children.  I decided it was to do with the concerts etc attracting a different crowd.

And there were people with dogs. I thought you weren't meant to bring them in anymore.

I belive that dogs and motorsport should not be mixed. Full stop.  It shows disregard for drivers' and marshals' safety and I feel for any poor dog who should inadvertently get in the way.

A dog frolicking around was shown on Eurosport to illustrate that it was having fun there too. That really annoyed me.

I assumed the dog ban was to do with their health and hearing rather than them getting on to the circuit.  Certainly I wouldn't even dream of taking my dog to a motor racing circuit but its due to the people and noise rather than worrying about her getting on the circuit.  After all latter wouldnt happen as she would be on the lead at all time.

One of the marshalls on Poste 125 had her dog with her.

Saw her walking it just before the start then again after the end of the race.

Kept in caravan/mobile home during race?

As Jules said My GF Kelly came for the second year this year and we both commented on how the number of facilities at MB seemed to so small! You will not get a shower at a normal time in the morning / night for ques! She learnt quick last year that men who need to go go regardless in the gents of ladies and not to be shy about it. One comment was it did smell better this year mind  ::)

Baby wipes are the key!
