Raiders of the Lost Skip
(or stuff my brother-in-law brought back from France Pt II)
Some may remember a while ago me posting some historical stuff that came my way via my brother-in-law.
The story goes; he (and my sister and various offspring), were on their way to the South of France in Summer 2002, when driving thru a small town their was a skip and in clear view was a very nice old suitcase in among the rubbish. Yoink... it ended up in his boot. He was about to chuck the contents when they reaslise that I might be interested in it and two weeks later I got a phone call... ;D :D
Anyway - here is the lastest scans - there is a shed load more to come over the winter....
This wallet held some of the tickets and stickers you see below

Excellent DR. I said it before and I'll say it again....you're a jammy bastard. ;)
Please keep em coming.
-
Next up will be the maps/photos/blueprints for the re-routing of the circuit around 1970... That can wait til nearer Xmas tho ;)
-
I remember the earlier post well - you are indeed a lucky sod - keep the nostalgia coming!
-
Excellent, thanks for posting.

Nice one DR.
The manual you show appears to be some kind of document for competitors as (according to my limited French) it refers to scrutineering, the start procedure, rules during the race, finish procedure, payment of fees and a list of costs among other things.
Gilles - am I correct?

Looks like Le Mans was a fairly simple process in 1973 - Parking Rouge, Vert, Jeune et Bleu - with a vestigal Houx.
No chicanes, two Dunlop bridges - and some of the fastest sportscars ever produced. They never had it so good.
Any more old photos? the tickets and other bits an pieces are interesting - the photographs in the last series of postings were the bollocks.
-
There are a couple of files with stuff in that I havent looked at properly, and a shat load of correspondence. Not many photos I think..
-
This was the sticker of the totally French racing team...
... the matra simca had a Panoz-soundalike engine !
I've got some of them and it has a relative sentimental value for every french car enthusiast !
WAs it you that I sent some pre-war LM postcards months ago ? Have you received it ?
-
Yes it was Gilles - I have them on my desk in front of me! They are great, will scan them and return them to you soon
