Title: Button WEC dream fades as he is re-signed by McLaren

I can't see him being of interest to a works WEC team with his limited experience even assuming McLaren were prepared to allow him to race for another manufacture not to mention the potential harm to an asset.

To be honest I prefer it when the WEC teams promote from within, people like Nick Tandy deserve the chance and could bring more to a team than a fast tracked F1 driver IMHO.

That is a huge market demographic for Audi and the ACO.

Post by: Nordic on December 12, 2014, 02:25:11 pm: To keep their drivers race fit and sharp, maybe McLaren could consider a GTS (or LMP1/2) program. They are after all a builder of high end sports cars and did rather well the last time they pitched up at Le mans.

Fanciful dreaming, Button, Mags and Alonso in one car at Le mans, could be a bit of a PR coup for McLaren!

Now they will have to wait until the GT3 and GT rules are looked into again.
