Title: The Crosley Hotshot at Le Mans
Post by: Boorish Grobian on February 13, 2015, 06:41:44 pm
This is a LM entrant from the early fifties, that frankly I'm embarrassed to say I knew nothing about.  I've lived in Cincinnati virtually my entire life, Powel Crosley, and his company are icons of Cincy's heritage, most famous for his radios (my parents still have an original Crosley radio), and being the longtime owner of the Cincinnati Reds MLB team.  At one time he tried his hand at building cars, and a modified version of the Hotshot won, on handicap, the first race ever held at Sebring (a six hour event).  In 1951 the car was entered at the Sarthe.  I found this nice article in the Grand Prix Models online freebie version of Four Small Wheels from a few years ago.  You'll have to scroll to page 27 if interested.  Its a good read.

Thanks Will you make Sebring this year?

Hey Phil,
Unfortunately it doesn't look like we'll be able to make Sebring again this year.  I have a nightmarish time trying to get that week off work, it coincides with the start of the NCAA Basketball tournament, and all the Kentucky loonies I work with (who all have higher seniority than me) take the week off, and I'm left high & dry.  Won't be able to make the Petit this year either, my niece decided to schedule her wedding for that Sat.  Soak up some sun for us, after this winter a few days in Florida would be nice.
