Two days before his 40th birthday, Damien Lewis, the long time chief mechanic on Rebellion car #12 (Heidfeld / Prost / Beche), died in a road accident. We understand that he suffered fatal injuries when he was run over by a truck early on Tuesday morning on the road through Adenau.
STATEMENT FROM THE WORLD ENDURANCE CHAMPIONSHIP
Gérard Neveu, CEO of the WEC, spoke on behalf of the WEC paddock. “This morning we received the terrible news that the WEC has lost another family member in a road traffic accident in Adenau, Germany.
"Damien Lewis was a familiar face in the paddock and a valued member of the Rebellion Racing team. Our thoughts and condolences go to Damien’s partner Marcie, his family, everyone at Rebellion Racing and his friends all around the world. Everyone at the WEC will miss him.”
