No one seems to have done it yet so here it is and here I am again ::)
Been a while since I last logged in,I just don't get the time these days, and I've just managed to sit down to watch my first bit of action and it's a red flag :o
Bet that safety car drivers just filled his shorts with that slide too ;D
-
What's the red fer, sir? (I'm a poet and don't know it...)
-
P**sing down ::)
-
Thank you. All I've got on this side of the pond at the moment is T&S
-
They say the forecast is for the rain to pass and hopefully allow some running. Race director just said he doubts pit exit will open before 23:10 local time.
-
Thank you again. Will have 20 hours of TV coverage here on FOX Sports 1 & 2, along with T&S nad Radio LM
-
You still there? On aol?
-
Due to work,a one year old daughter and house renovations I'll manage a lot less viewing than I'd like but I'll dive in when I can ::)
-
We do what we must. I'm single, old and retired so soon I'm finally gonna make it over there. Finally after 52 years of following LM
...
-
We feel like the home guard but live five miles from the circuit and no wish to go to the track. The weather and the temperature are so against it. Worst for many a year.
-
Could (Key word of course) make for an interesting race...as long as it's not all parade behind safety car or worse, red flag.
-
mike(liverpool boys) - Check your e-mail.
-
Safety car is in and Pit lane to open at 23:15.
Its 10 years this year since my first visit. Managed 06,07,08,09 and 14. Not even going to try and guess when my next trip will be...
-
mike(liverpool boys) - Check your e-mail.

I am quite happy to be warm and drying watching on telly!
Nice to have an on board run round the track now they are on green again. Seems like a really long time since I was over there!

It's not often I say that I'm glad I'm not at a motor race, but I'm glad I'm not there. I was at Le Mans for the monsoon of 2001, have no desire to re-live that experience.

Recorded the start, watched them get to mulsanne then deleted it. Just got sat down to watch a bit and it looks good. Dr Audi has some work to do and the Fords running very well,I'm happy.
-
Yes, crap start, a lot better now
-
Question: I haven't taken the time to check regulations....how does a car that does not exist yet (Ford GT) get to run in GTE?
-
The original GT40s got me into Le Mans, and sports car racing in general, but these are not in prototype so how...???
-
Fairly sure they are available to preorder and although road car specs may vary,I'd imagine the basic car,and more importantly the parts that matter for going racing will be set in concrete for homologation purposes.
-
The deadline for application came and went about a week ago. Again, the cars don't exist yet. Special dispensation for Ford for the 50th anniversary is what I figger... 'Don't like it. I am a Ford fan but right is right and this ain't right, in my opinion.

If a big manufacturer wants to participate at Le Mans, and the WEC, the ACO & FIA will bend the rules to attract them, simple as that. Happens all the time in life, money & influence talk.

I was off by a bit. The deadline for the application to purchase a GT ($550,000.00+) was sooner. I can't come close to affording one so I never read much about it.

'Didn't for the 917.... :P ;D
-
That was almost a half century ago, different era, things have changed.
As they say, that was then, this is now. In the contemporary racing landscape, with competition for the sponsorship dollar, and viewership as tight as it is, if Ford wants to go racing in a series, the sanctioning body will make it happen.

Way ahead of you. Unnerstood.
Sarcasm. Smilies. ;) :)

...is homologation!

Speaking of the GT40's, at last weekends Ault Park Concours here in Cincy, they had three original GT40's on display, including the '66 LM 2nd place car of Ken Miles & Denny Hulme on loan courtesy of the IMS museum.

"including the '66 LM 2nd place car of Ken Miles & Denny Hulme"
Ahhh...you mean the actual winners of the race. They were robbed. >:( :(
-
I stand corrected, it was the 3rd place Bucknum-Dick Hutcherson Holman Moody car, not the Miles-Hulme machine. Whoops!
Too many IPA's after the ride on the Ninja this afternoon.

Had the last hour recorded as I was working today. Although my twat of a brother messaged me about it before I'd seen it and ruined it I have to say, what a stinger for Toyota. Ran the perfect race to be let down that close to the line. That's racing though.
