Title: Mark Webber retires
Post by: Lorry on October 13, 2016, 04:41:32 pm
He'll hang up his helmet at the end of the season, to become a Porsche "Special
Representative"

Doubtless good reasons to do so, but a shame to see him leaving the cockpit.

Maybe he's making space in the team for his good mate Jenson Button...

I doubt that Porsche needs to add more drivers to it's LMP team to fill the gap which Webber will leave. With former Le Mans winners Bamber and Tandy their squad is well stocked ...

True, but they did get an awful lot of publicity outside the world of sports car racing by having a well known former F1 driver in the team.
Hulkenberg might also be in the mix to return.

Would love to see Hülkenberg back in Le Mans, but Porsche and Audi have both already ruled out a third car for 2017 and the Hulk has just recently signed up for Renault in F1 for the next 2 years.
