Ok guys,
YOu almost all have your camping passes, ferry bookings, aso.
Now it's time to plan your week. As it now become a tradition, the CA dinner will take place on Friday evening, after the parade.
The question for this year is "Where this dinner will take place ?"
Tradition was at the Flambadou, but the Bar a Vin that we tried at the 1000 kms was odd and exotic enough ot please most of you.
Where would you prefer to eat? Flambadou or Bar a Vin?
I now need a fast reply to do a global booking maybe around 20/25 people.
-
Gilles , I wont be there.
Although i have never met for food apart from the Bar ou Vin
-
Gilles, you choose. The chances of getting everyone to agree is zero!!
-
Would like to come along, but cant say for definate yet - when do need to know by? What would be a suitable amount to budget for this gastronomic experience (just to be vulgar)?

I'll book really early for 20 people, so it could mean the whole Bar a in or the largest part of the Flambadou terrace....

Flambadou Flambadou Flambadou Terrace as long as it doesnt rain.
7 or 8 W.A.N.C.S. will be there
cheers Gilles

Gilles ......What are you feelings on juveniles coming for the dinner.
The usual crew will not be coming this year.So Myself and junior will be the only ones camping this year, while Pretzel and the others will be lording it up in their hotel in Evron on Friday night.
Your advice would be appreciated as we would like to join in the revelry.

Is this booked? Defiantely 2 of us so far, maybe more? Room to add one or two if need be?
-
For practicalities sake, I will decline as it will be difficult for me to attend and have 19 others dancing along behind like the Pied Piper of Hamlyn. ::)
However, the Shampoo Bar will be another story ;D - I'll bring my CA mug ;)

Gilles
We normally go for a curry on Friday night, but your event sounds much better.
Is the Flamythingy in the town centre ? What time do we need to be there ? Is there a dress code ? Do they have Stella ?
Muchos gracious my man

No dress code, you can wear your CA T-shirt.
They have some beer, but their vinery is so huge and marvellous that you won't need any Stella.

OK The Flambadou is now entirely booked which means 22 seats...
Already booked:
the WANCS: 8
Kpy: 1
Wishy: 2
Dreamracers: 2
Me, Myself, I: 2
Still available: 7 seats
-
Wishy; Any chance we can get a lift in the Shed if you are driving?
-
Count me in :) I will take 2 seats.
Dreamracer, cant we take a taxi..? ( I still remeber your "short cut" in 2002 ) :P

Are you MAD DR???? I could understand it if you were unfamiliar with Wishy's driving techniques but after Sparkford............ ;)
-
Of course I remember, I was looking forward to singing "wheels on the bus" ;D
Hey Dane! Hows life been treating you?! Long time no speak.... Taxi sounds like a plan - maybe a mass decent on the taxi rank is in order ;D
-
Just a note of caution for you guys,
Its very easy to commit yourself to coming now,but once youve had a few beers and ten macdonalds at the parade a sit down meal may not be so attractive.
If you do put your name down to come, you must honour it or our good friend gilles will be in big trouble.
Just a thought.

I have no problem at all commiting to it, I normally dont do the parade, and will defiantely be going as I am normally craving a decent meal, and McDonalds doesnt come under that category....

After a night in a tent ( Yep November 2003 , 1000k's at LM , Camping 0 I was COLD , and really , really hungry , and its was a SUNDAY IN FRANCE .
Desperate for warm , hot and comfortable was an under statement , and its the only thing that was open.
I also took this photo of the evening saviour ( lovely food and war , dry , and QUIET )

Ah, Buffalo Grill. Mrs JP's saviour!! ;D (or should she be Chardonnay??)
After a long weekend in France once we stopped off at the Buffalo grill near Dieppe. Before the meal came out, we were given a complimentary green salad as a starter and there were carrots and french beans with the main course. Suddenly she realised we hadn't had any veg or salad the whole time we were there (apart from potatoes/chips of course)
Being semi veggie (she eats fish and chicken) it was suddenly the best restaurant in the world!! :)
-
We stopped off at the Buffalo Grill at Alencon on the way back last year, wasnt as eventful as the year before when one of our party ordered beer with a loud "OI! Garcon, beer grande!" After we have re-emerged from under the table, it was all we could do not to laugh...
Needless to say he hasnt been back with us since...!

Every year without fail , Sunday evening , before the rush , dinner , cold drinks and salad ?

I'm sure Gilles will tell me if I'm wrong, but I think the Directors of the Buffalo Grill chain were recently prosecuted (and jailed?) for selling steaks made out of... well something that isn't steak basically. Iguana or rhinosorus I expect, or some even more unpalatable meat. Not just the odd steak but tons and tons of it. It was even in the papers over here.
Or was it that the meat that was well past it's sell by date, or discovered taking a slight detour on the way to the pet food factory or maybe it had been in a freezer in Poland for over ten years. Whatever, you wouldn't catch me eating there I can tell you. I'm a bit sqeamish you know, have I mention it before?
-
Andy you'll have some regrets asking me about Buffalo grill chiefs' prosecution.
They were prosecuted because they sold forbidden meat.
But what's forbiden meat ??? Iguana? Rhinoceros? Liverpoolian rats ?
Nothing, it was beef meat...
... but beef meat from ENGLAND after the embargo.
In fact they had some frozen meat left bought before the embargo and not destroyed after.
But they recently been cleaned of all accusation. Both French cases of kreutzfeld Jacob disease were not linked with beef meat consumption, even if this beef came from the other side of the pond

Gilles.....I dont mind which bar we use .........but as I asked previously......can I bring junior along for the event!!!!!!
He is pretty open minded after his visit to Le Sarth last year.
Wishy

Of course you can, they have a children 3-course meal for him !!! ;)

We're only 17, so we need 5 extra nice people to join us :-\
-
I'll be there and so will my Dad (assuming I can drag his sorry ass out of the motorhome). :)
-
ok so 3 more lads welcomed, with a little preference for 3 girls :D
RS2Babe what are you doing on Friday evening ?
-
I don't have everything locked in yet, but it's very possible I will arrive Friday afternoon instead of Saturday as I originally planned. Will be coming in on the train from Paris. How far is the eatery from the train station? If there is a seat still open, would like to join you. Will let you know as soon as arrangements fall into place.

Hi Gilles
Please can you add one more to the list as I have recruited a new member of the "Shed Crew"
Wishy
-
I won't be there as I'll be cooking my own (scampi, chips, mushy peas and a pickled egg - lurvly :-* )
-
One more from the Dreamracers party please, making our total 3.
Does that leave two spaces now?
-
If John Evans is definitely coming we'll be full.
Now for the late-comers just have a look on Sell/Swap postings to negociate a seat ... ;D
-
So whats the going rate for a mark up then :o ;D
-
Giles, looks like I will be leaving Lucerne around 6:00AM on Friday morning for Le Mans. If the connections through Paris go well, I should be in around 5:00PM. Please supply directions and time for the Friday evening gathering. If you need to do it off the forum, just email me. Thanks. Hope to see Robbo there to get my CA shirt.

Just had a message from the Danes - they wont be able to attend, so thats 2 (more?) places available
