Title: Is next year our last?
Post by: Ian (Liverpool Boys) on November 06, 2024, 11:57:22 pm
My first year was 1989 , I ve missed one year apart from Covid . My group from Liverpool ,Newcastle , Scotland , down south etc. The group has grown and shrunk year over year. But a discussion will take place at Le Mans next year about 2026 , most of the proposals do not include being at LM after next year , The ACO should hang their head in shame over their mistreatment of members and supporters. R I P.

You are not the only ones thinking this. I know several in the same situation and I do feel the whole ACO selling out in 30 minutes and crashing multiple times is a farce. No loyalty anymore, just a cash cow.

Plus the campsites are crap, and too far away.  Food, drink and souvenirs are very expensive.  They must make good money out of the corporate hospitality to treat the public so badly.  It was better during the covid years when you could watch on big TV for next to nothing.

Pierre Fillon, hang you head in shame

Pierre Fillon, hang you head in shame

He ought to be ashamed!

I'm another who will not be returning in 2025 after 22 years attending.
Huge price rises, to crowded and it's lost it's magic IMHO.

For me, no magic has been lost at all.  It's still incredibly good value when you go for the full week.  And the races themselves have been vastly better over the last 2 years (and that's what I go for).  But the ticketing experience is becoming a lottery, even for those who have supported the ACO through thick and thin for many years.  That's what saddens me.

You never know they might have improved by 2026 and do tickets better. To me it is still good value compared to GP. Saddened that the campsite and ticket sales are such a shitshow. Having been on Terte Rouge and uncertainty about tickets, our group have split campsites, two of us have signed up for Team Langoustine, and the others are waiting for what the ticket agency have offered, find out mid December.
Since we have been going we have lost many campsites. Started camping on the Mulsanne behind the cafe. Official one closed without warning. Fortunately the farmer behind opened up. After a few years that closed. Another field was found, but we did not want to take the risk of that one closing so next year we had tickets for BSJ when you could camp in the field next to Porche curves. That went private campsite. Onwards to Technopark, 2 years and that closed. Then Maison Blanche and finally Terte Rouge.

I said the same thing, then ended up buying a couple of camping spots on BSJ just because it was comparatively cheap, I can arrive early and ensconce myself on Porsche Curves and with all the loss of our preferred sites and/or huge price rises for those remaining I've lost a lot of love for it all - if I bother to keep them and go it gives me options I guess.

Haven't missed one since 2003 (except 2020 of course). And don't intend to stop going just yet.
This successful phase will pass.

What huge price rises?? Some people never heard of inflation? My first race was50ff race and 5ff camping but we only found 1 wc on the circuit and none on campsite (silverstone was similar then) now there are hot showers (you don’t get those at spa on the campsites) beer and dirty burgers are the same as other venues if not cheaper. NBR 24 maybe better value.

I seem to have acquired a GA and camping ticket, think I must have been over refreshed or had a brain storm.
Probably wishful thinking as I can hardly walk at the moment. But perhaps.
