So how many brits attended Le Mans 2003 and is there a forecast for 2004 ?.
all for the club website. !!
Regards Cliff

Official comments suggested 80'000 last year . out of 264'000 official tickets sold.
I thought Radio Le Mans quoted nearer 90'000 .
This year the Morgan owners , TVr owners and Porsche owners have a few thousand going as officical supporters.
Plus at least 168 178 people in Arnage t shirts

I'd be supprised if they know. I know that many people buy tickets at the gate so to speak. Personaly I've only pre purchased tickets in the UK on three occasions. On two other occasions I've bought tickets via and ACO member who is a Kiwi. tThe other 19 times I bought on the gate. I book the ferry direct with the ferry company. So how do they know I'm a Brit? or that I'm going to Le Mans.
Of course a quick look in the Campsites and Car parks and Supermarkets shows it's 90% Brits. :-)
I think that the attendence is around 250,000 so 100,000 brits might be a good guess.

Just before the start last year, an English chap was on the tannoy saying that an estimated 300,000 people were there, 100,000 of which were Brits!! Robbos comment sounds about right.

Officail statistic was 101,762.
And like 68% of all statistics, I made it up on the spot.
But I reckon it's got to be the 100,000 mark.
-
100 000 may be the good estimate ...
... even if for a local (except myself ;) ) there's no difference between a Brit and an American
We use to say 2/3 of foreign audience, and 2/3 of this 2/3 are Brits
Not to forget the mass of German and Danish and Dutch boys

Is that like everything else Andy???????????????????? :) :) :)

From your point of view Gilles, think of it like the French, and the Belgians. I think that makes sense. No disrespect intended to either nation.

Ok let's go further in that ethnic question...
We all have an idea of the number of Brits, so who has an idea of the number of English, Welsh, Scottish, Irish, North Irish, Caledonian, Shetland,... ?
-
I know of at least 6 irish there last year of which I was one . 8)
-
I bumped into two Scots who'd just come up from Monte Carlo. ::)

This is a great hotel on the route back to Calais. It is right in the town center with lots of bars and restaurants nearby. There is parking at the back although only possible for cars. There are I think about 12 rooms prices are good and the breakfast (continental) was fantastic. I have stayed there a few times before and will continue to go back.

There's a great bunch of Irish guys that we always bump into each year. They take a motor home and a couple of go-peds and park the motor home at the top of Parking Vert.
I know it's a long shot but you're not part of that group are you Enzo??
