Title: Zonda Withdrawn
Post by: Abs on June 03, 2004, 12:50:38 pm
According to this weeks Autosport the Pagani Zonda has been withdrawn, seems a shame because it is a great looking car, but according to the team just not up to it with engine and gearbox problems :(

I heard last week that one of the sponsors had pulled out and they could not afford to race next weekend. Correct me if I am wrong.

I notice that the supplement from Autosport still has it in the car line up. Seeing as I knew about it being pulled last week I cant imagine why autosport have covered in the magazine.

I guess i will have to come down in someones trailer then as opposed to driving the new ZONDA down (bought on E**Y) dont want to be drive a car that is not even being raced

I suggest you check lmsr.net,

Apparently not only has the Spinnaker Dallara been withdrawn, but also two of the Courage C65,s have also been withdrawn due to them not being able to change to AER engines in time. With the reserve list dry I wonder what the ACO will do to fill the grid.

They could draft in some of the Group C cars ??

Now THAT would be interesting  :)

Yeah I saw that, a bit disappointed to be honest although not surprised seeing as how it didn't last very long last year, doubly disappointed as it's going to be replaced by yet another 911.

The GT class would have benefited from some diversity especially as the appears to be no Spyker this year, all I can say is hurrah for Morgan & TVR!!

Right, the Spinnaker entry is withdrawn as well, too limited testing is their reason. Still, they gave their commitment for the LMES. The Force One Pagani was withdrawn after an accident during testing at Vallelunga. However, the two works Courages and the two Epsilon cars might still be in. They swapped the JPX V6 engines against the more powerfull AER V4 turbo engines. The trouble is that the ACO didn't yet gave their ok to this. It would be a great shame if they weren't allowed to start. BTW, the Belmondo Courage will definately start because it already had an AER engine during PQ. It looks like the Group C cars will have some proper garages.

Heres hoping the two Epsilon cars get in!!

The Zonda is a disappointment cause it looks nice, but thats about it.

Withdrawal of anything at the last minute usually means disappointment. But if you can't go the full distance, then there was no point in entering in the first place.

That's a very cruel way of seeing things. In other words, about 50 % of the field shouldn't be allowed to start in the first place because they don't see the finish line anyway. Maybe they can fill the vacancies with the group C cars ?  ;D

HGB, lost in the translation I guess. I wasn't necessarily referring just to LM. It's a metaphor for life in general.

Andrew, are you getting all philosophical because of a certain MOT failure?

More withdrawals,
The works 675 Courage has gone and the ACO are yet to rule on the engine change for the remaining epsilon car.

Only 47 cars will start practice now.

On the upside the creation zytec team have informed the ACO that they have cars and spares ready. the ACO are considering their offer.

Argh there dropping like flies!  :o
I hope the ACO take up zyteks offer the nearer to 50 cars on the grid we can get the better!

Would be nice, particularly if a Porsche 917 and Ferrari 512 could enter the equation too - now that would be even nicer...... ;D
