Title: Jewelultra Diamondbrite Post by: gibberish on June 28, 2004, 09:39:02 am A friend of mine looking to buy a new mini, was offered an extra paint coating ccalled 'Jewelultra Diamondbrite'. Now it's pretty obvious what this stuff purports to do, but I was wondering if anyone had experience of it, or similar, and whether it was worth paying the extra.
Cheers ;D Title: Re:Jewelultra Diamondbrite Post by: hgb on June 28, 2004, 09:46:20 am Did you have a look at their home page ? http://www.jewelultra.com/diamondbrite.htm

There are other threads regarding this product on that forum. Make sure you use the Forum Search, not the obvious search at the top of the page. Title: Re:Jewelultra Diamondbrite Post by: gibberish on June 28, 2004, 03:00:53 pm Thanks Smokie. Very useful :D

We tried some on half the roof of an old BMW and left it about 6 weeks outside, looked no different to us. Tell your friend to save the money and spend it on the worlds best weekend away instead ;D
Title: Re:Jewelultra Diamondbrite Post by: mgmark on June 28, 2004, 03:41:14 pm Beware the snake oil sales pitch. Remember that paintwork is a protective covering over the metal that happens to looks good. Like anything else it wears out through chipping, rusting, over-polishing, careless cleaning etc. and responds to regular care (i.e. it looks better for longer) in terms of proper washing and polishing. With something like this (and the Autoglym equivalents) you are applying a further protective coating over a hopefully professionally finished car using modern paitn finishes, unlike the good old cellulose and T-Cut days! However, there comes a point when you need to clean back the layers of silicon resin polish, because just like the corrugated paint surface shown on the product's site, the surface itself will be the subject of wear and tear. Of particular interest is that although the site has a button for technical data sheets, the content is completely blank - draw your own conclusions, but I'll stick to normal washing and polishing.........

I too have a friend in a likewise profession... and he says exactly the same. The % mark up for the dealer makes it very poor value for money! :o |
