Hi Everyone.
Much talk has been made about a bit of a Le Mans debrief. So, how about one? I feel the need to get together with good friends and have one or two beers.
FatLad
-
I would happily turn up.
Reading, same place as last time ?
-
Count us in :D :D :D
-
Definately :)
-
Will there be champagne? I've not vomited since LM. ;D
-
That's a pretty good start. I think the same place in Reading as last time also. Anyone else?
Bird, I'm sure that you can find something else to drink that will have the same effect ;) ;D
-
count me in too
-
Bird, I'm sure that you can find something else to drink that will have the same effect ;) ;D
Would you believe me if I said I don't usually puke? Thought not ;D
-
Yes I can make reading.
There will be a few of us at the Argyll arms in London in a few minutes
-
Reading is good for me, Saturday is good for me too (the missus is out at some Ball or something)
If not - any other time would probably be fine as well....
Brad
(very jealous of people watching the F1 display)
P.S. Someone said the F1 thing was going to be a parade this evening - so I guess they will be running at full racing speed then? ;D ;D ;D
-
Ahhh, I can feel an grand evenings entertainment coming on ;D
-
count me in!!
-
Oh.......go on then!!! ;D
Anyone for the Grosvenor afterwards????
-
Fat Lad, what time, day etc etc.
Are there any possible's
-
I'll be there...if I can (holidays permitting, I go on Saturday!)
-
How long are you away for Smokie?
I was thinking of a provisional date of Friday 16th July?
At the same pub we used last time? Can't remember the name, probably to wrecked :-[ ;D
-
The Back of Beyond was the place we went to last time, However there are a few other pubs in town with a good selection of Real Ale. It depends what you want really - if you want that Fosters Pish or Alcopops then we can go any where - if you want to try real beer then we can go to:
The Back of Beyond
The Hogshead
The Hobgoblin
There are more - but if I give too many places you'll only argue ;)
Otherwise - we could do Wokingham - lots of Pubs there - or somewhere like Crowthorne/Sandhurst - some pubs there and easier access for Robbo and those coming Via M3.
-
the only comment that i would make, could we have somewhere with easy parking?
-
Has a date been sorted as I can probably drag my ar*e across to Reading or Wokingham if it's a Friday or Saturday.

-
R u bringing the cobra? Steve Brown - 'all round good egg and snappy dresser'. Could have a car meet as well, might polish the spyder and have a run out. Centre of reading is out as the parking is not very good. Somthing just outside would be better.
-
If people are driving, why not 3 Mile Cross, just off the M4.( No idea of pubs there though )
For those in Basingstoke, i can pick you up ( dates permitting )

Mr Robbo an excellent idea the one pub there is the
The Swan Inn
Basingstoke Rd Three Mile Cross
Reading Berkshire
RG7 1AT
Tel: 0118 988 3674
-
The Swan is very handy - just off the A33 and J11 of the M4 but not sure of the size of the carpark? Does anybody know any more? if not could get Brad to check it out (on route to work), look forward to seeing you lot somewhere!! :) :)
-
here is some more information, it looks good for a meeting. Singles night is wednesday if anyone is collecting phone numbers!! Mr Cutler

-
It's a bit out of the way if you aren't driving!
However I'm away from Saturday for two weeks so that's academic for me...
-
Not sure if I can make it???
There is some bloody race in france in two and a bit weeks!! I am supposed to race the bike this weekend but don't like the weather forcast and the week after I have a very long race!!!
Only 8 working days until the classic!!! ;D
Reading is OK all the time, anywhere that needs driving I will either remain S**ber or blag a lift off someone.
-
The Black Boy is the other pub in Three Mile Cross - easy to find, big car park - good food apparently and some good beers too I think......
I dont really know Three Mile cross - i'll have a look on my way home tonight though.
The one that was suggested looks a bit grubby from where I drive past it.....
-
Can I please put in a request for Not Bug Jam weekend? fanks.
;D

;D
That's also the weekend of the Le Mans Clasisc so I think you're safe there!!
-
So when does everyone want to aim for??
Smokie is soon away for two weeks. That takes us to the Classic weekend which is no good, then we are at the end of July and into the main holiday period.
-
That means then friday night or TONIGHT.
I can't make Friday night and Smokie can't make anything after Saturday.
Could meet TONIGHT but damn short notice for all if we do!!!!

What do you mean the main holiday period, from what I can gather your life is one long holiday ;)
Reckon is should be the weekend after the classic as we can then hear the tales from that as well.
-
What about
Friday 30th July 2004
Or
Friday 13th August 2004 ?

;D ;D ;D ;D
OK, maybe I should have said "Family Holiday" period.
As it happens, the first date Robbo has suggested I am away with the missus. Second date we'll be in Crete! Don't let that stop those as possible dates. I reckon it's going to be near on impossible to get a date that everyone can make before September!!
-
How about a long weekend in June 2005 ?
-
Friday 10th September 2004
-
Good for me
-
Wokingham then? :)
(Isn't that the Spa weekend which Powermote is going to?)
-
Wokingham then? :)
(Isn't that the Spa weekend which Powermote is going to?)
Spa Weekend = Yes.
I personally wont be able to go to Spa, The Spa thread semed a little short on numbers, but maybe.....
Friday 24th September 2004 ?
-
September is totally free for me at the moment!
-
the next february 29th looks promising
-
Friday 24th September then.
1900hrs / 7pm at a pub to be found by the Wokingham / reading Boys
That way everyone get in training for it, and prepare the excuses for the ladies at home.
-
Blimmy Sept 24th will have totally dyhydrated by then!
Anyhow The Plough or the Three froggs ( both do food) should be easy to find for the guys coming from aways, just head into Wokingham from the Wokingham/ Binfeild/ Bracknell jct of the A329M.
-
Is there a train station nearby or can someone give us a lift from a nearby station. I can't bear go to a pub and not drink!!!
-
I'll be coming North from Portsmouth, through Basingstoke, so can help the B'stoke people with a lift i suppose.
-
We are going to have our own little get together.
Anyone fancy a ride through France leaving on the 18th August taking in Le Mans, then onto the south to stay with our pal Tone, turn left to Italy. 7 days in Levanto (nice) and a 3 day journey back.
4500 miles total journey including daily rides all on motorcicles.
It'll be a gas.
Sign up here suckers, and bring your arse cream. You don't need a septic pile like Steve had. He developed an abcess the size of an orange up his butt. Yummy.

Neither are good for the station - wrong side of town. Long way off yet, but there are a couple of Pubs near Winnersh station (next stop towardS Reading) which we could use.

Now, I've never met Steve, but he's already my hero.
I can only guess that he must have enjoyed the experience, surely he could have got an Easyjet back, but no, he hung on like grim death and finished the job. At what price I can only imagine, but I bet he keeps an eye on how much roughage he gets through now. I once had a true friend described to me as "someone who'll give you his *rsehole and sh*t through his winkle", somehow I think Steve now knows how that feels. The Catch-22 of course, is that anti-biotics constipate you, and that's all the proof Atheists need if you ask me, it would have to be a very cruel God indeed to pull that one, and I bet Steve can't be found round the vicars on a Sunday.
Count me in.

I'm sure this guy will keep an eye on what he eats as well now :-X :-X

Brad
The latest hurricane will have wiped FL off the earth's surface, by the time you arrive.
Your timing is perfect. The ALMS round at Road Atlanta runs on 25th Sept. I'm driving up to Atlanta from Orlando on 24th and meeting with Dave H, Fax and possibly Canada Phil. If you can skive off theme park duties, you and the old fella should join us - The Petit Le Mans is one of the best sportscar races in the ALMS calendar and Road Atlanta is the most fan friendly circuit I've visited in the US.
Any news on your US itin, Big H?
-
I was last in the Plough about 6 weeks ago - when was it refurb'd? It's certainly an easy pub to find, and accessible from all sides (and within walking distance for me!)
I seem to recall it has a fairly narrow bar area but a large conservatory. I will go on a recce soon.
The Three Frogs is in new hands (well, I didn't recognise the staff tonight anyway!). They now have a rather crowded smoking side, but the non smoking side was empty.
How many will turn up - about 20?
-
Friday 1st Oct is fine with me.
Do I need my falling over trousers?

Looks like I might have to duck out as I am in Manchester in the afternoon so not sure when I'll get back...
Is it definitely going to be the 1st, and has anyone agreed on location as yet?
-
Seems to have died a death.
Maybe we can get a reading person to arrange and sort out.
-
Certainly a bit quiet, thought we'd decided on the 1st Oct at the Plough, Wokingham, cos its easy - just off the A329 (RG40 1RG) i.e coming from the M4, head towards Bracknell and at the first exit (has signs for Ski / Ice Rink, but when you get to the roundabout head away from them and effectivly, turn right and head towards Wokingham, from Bracknell direction - take the Wokingham slip and bear left) and the Plough is on the Right after 500 yards.
So who's coming then?
-
Me
-
I've still got it in my diary!
Robbo, is the offer of calling in at Basingstoke en route still available? :)
Abs, just go straight there on your way back if you are running late (assuming you are driving to Manchester??)
-

Being thrown out of the 3 Frogs for underage drinking used to be one of those rites of passage that everybody went through :)
-
Did anyone going on Friday tape the LMES on C4 last Sunday?
If so could I borrow the tape please?
Have to get the 3 year old to program the tape next Sunday, he'll probably do a better job than I did :)
-
And can I borrow it after Barry as my kids weren't available to program the video either!! :-\

JP (and Barry),
I'm not going to Wokingham (a bit far from Cardiff) but I may still have my recording on hard disk. If I have then I could burn it on to a DVD and post it on. I'll check tonight and post here to let you know.

Gents,
DVD sent to Barry by post today. Should arrive with him tomorrow.
JP - If nobody else expresses an interest in seeing it, if you could return it to me when you've finished, I can then record and copy the remaining programmes on to it.
It could then be circulated to anyone else who wants to see the other episodes but is unable to do so at the time of transmission, or unable to record it for whatever reason.
I will PM my address details.

PM received and the DVD will be winging it's way back to you shortly once I've had it from Barry.
