Front page, Motorsport News... Porsche to return to Le Mans in 2006 with a works team and an all new prototype.
Fantastic stuff

Sounds very promising!!
At least there will be two manufacturers with front running prototypes, I wonder if Audi are gonna go with a diesel engine in the R9 now??
But I guess with an LMP2 as well it'll turn round to being a Porsche race again
Last weeks Autosport had a bit about Peugeot getting back into sportscars & Mazda were talking about coming back not so long ago
This is what happens when F1 goes bad!! ;D
-
I'd be a lot happier if the would 'could' wasn't in the headline...
Anyway hope if Porsche do get back to LM they have a quiet running engine, we don't want you putting sugar in there as well now do we ::)
-
The reason they pulled out of racing, was to free up the budget to develop the Cayenne. Now that that is done and its selling well, then there no reason they can't come back to racing again !
-
So Porsche are back next year.
And so would BMW according to rumors.
And so should Maserati if they sort their problem out.
And I still believe and hope Ford should put their GT43 in there aswell, as the AM is more a ProDrive-project.
Hmm, nice ingredients for the '06-race ;D

When I see a Cayenne I'm usually tempted to put brown sugar in the fuel tank....
I wouldn't hold my breath on Porsche returning as a factory team.

My kids have lernt that the only thing to do when they see a Cayenne is point and laugh. ;D Thank god I dont live around Wilmslow Cheshire, I think we could not cope! ::)

Yes I live in cheshire and they do seem to be in abundence with X5's and the like

According to reports, Audi are going to pull out but return in the guise of Skoda!
And the dragons shall return and all the earth shall be thrown into darkness!!! ;D

I think any self respecting manufacturer would

Guys,
I hate to sound like mr. doom & gloom but we've heard stories of Porsche coming back to Le Mans about every eight month's or so since 1998. When I see something pounding around Weissach I'll believe it.
Until then, just wishful thinking.

There is a big 'if' on the Porsche LMP1 story.
However I do think something is going on as there has not been a statement denying in from them.
Rumours are getting stronger in France that PSA is going to come back next with a deisel.
As you say fax all rumours for the moment.

Hey Fax,
Can't let the dreamers dream a little dream then ;D Roll on Sebring. How far are you from teh airforce museum in Dayton?

Hi Phil,
They can keep dreaming but I just don't see it happening.
But as you said...Roll on Sebring! Wohoo! One month away.
It takes me about an hour to get up to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base (where the US Air Force museum is located) from my home. Wright-Patt is out on the east side of Dayton. I was up there back in the autumn. A buddy of mine here in town who is employed as an engineer for GE aircraft engines here in Cincy had his father-in-law in town from Ireland and we went up for the day. Its a staggering collection, they just opened another new hanger (the fifth or six, can't remember) and included in the aircraft on display is a SR-71 Blackbird. Pretty amazing to see one of those fast birds up close.
