Title: Brake discs

I need to replace the discs on my Audi RS6, the local dealer has quoted silly money to replace them.  Does anyone know of an alternative please.

Is the parts costs or labour costs you are worried about?

If labour I know of a good mobile SAAB & VAG mechanic in the Woking area.

www.eurocarparts.com or www.gsfcarparts.com are usually pretty competitive and well thought of for German cars.

Thanks smokie, just had a quick look at the GSF site and found the Heater motor I need for the Panzer (Passat TDI) VW garage wanted £274.67 for the part, and £518 fitted.
GSF price £145, so I know what I will be doing next weeked :-\

Brake fade is a fact of life round these parts. Last year I fitted some Greenstuff pads after a recomendation from a man who raced a road going 911 Turbo. So far so good, with the added bonus of very little brake dust.

If you buy replacement pads as well as discs please be aware that Audi fit pads with sensors as standard equipment. It is hard to find OEM pads with the right connections as I found to my cost when replacing pads on my A4.

Note that the rear discs don't just pry off, they need to be turned at the same time.

I've been using Greenstuff pads for some years on the Omega. They are superb - no getting down on hands and knees scrubbing off brake dust. Would recommend them...I think they are available in most popular sizes...


I'm sure Phil wil remember me searching motor shops in Daytona last year as I thought I'd buy them cheaper in the US - but they are German.

                I certainly do remember. got us off the bar stools for a while that did ;D Then there was the Girl watching 8) to say nothing of the cultural visits to Boot Hill and the Space Station ::)

Put green stuff pads in the MG, certanly alot cleaner, and less grabby - without fade, usfull without ABS, saves scareing old ladies and big tyre smoke when the fronts lock up, also 90quid rather than 115 for official MG / AP pads.
