Does anyone know if there is strike action planned during the le mans period? >:(
As I fly to Paris then take the TGV to Le mans (flights & train already paid) any disruption could really **** up my plans.
The action could of course also effect ferries.
-
This gets threatened every time, but never seems to happen. It's usually only for 24 hours.

I made a similar plea during the last strike action. See thread 13/05/03. That one DID affect the ferries (i.e. hardly any sailings at all!!!).
Gilles replied that the French trades unions never did give any notice so looks like we'll have to trust to luck....
-
Could be camping at the Portsmouth ferry port and getting ratted at the Radmore Vaults
-
??? I can't promise unions will be enough reasonable to stop strikes during the LM week.
I pray as faithful as you to have a good transport service ! :'(

There we have it folks - best to pack rifles and grenades just in case we are to make it past the blockades...
-
probably your supersoakers will be efficient enough !
or throw them your spare socks !!!! :P

Chuck the L'pool boys socks at them! (it is the L'pool boys isnt it that use socks as hookers?!) ??? ;)

Two years ago, as we approached Le Mans (just before the large Auchan store) we were held up at the roundabout by a group of strikers from Alstom Power (and to top it all they are one of our customers) Wierdest site though was the Gendarme that was holding one side of a banner for one of the protesters while he got himself another beer from the cool box!!!

Hey yeah - myself and father were out shopping at Auchan and we saw that strike, too. We did wonder what it was all about.
We drove past, blipped the throttle and shouted, "Agincourt !".

probably it was you the most stupid doing this because it's not "agincourt" but "azincourt" and 'cause unions have better to do than refering to middle-age history !
:P

Hi Gilles
You are right, shouting "Agincourt" is ridiculous in this part of France. Does NBaker not know that our King Henry Plantagenet was actually born in Le Mans!!!?
Actually in historical circles I am told that it is quite acceptable to pronounce the word as either "Azincour" with a french accent or alternatively "Agincourt" in an english accent.
Your union comment is quite correct also. Worldwide, unions are far too busy buggering up the country (and maybe our travel plans) to worry about history.
Finally, to paraphrase Shakespeare " Follow your spirit, and upon this charge cry "God for Harry! England and Le Mans!"
-
Following with Shakespeare, it's not "my kingdom for an horse" but "my kingdom to a LM camping pass"! Taht's the ACO dramaturgy!
-
"Friends, Romans, countrymen. Lend me your camping pass."
-
"to be or not to be at MB this year"
-
Infamy! Infamy! They've all got it in for me!
Go on Gilles. Try some Molliere.
-
'Hubble bubble, toil and trouble' - no, not Macbeth but the (in)sanitary facilities provided by our dear friends at the ACO.
-
Much Ado About Nothing - My tickets haven't arrived yet.

The Tempest - Le Mans 2001

ACO, ACO, wherefore art thou?

(with reference to the last quote - www.weather.com currently has the start of the week at 78/26 degrees, partly cloudy. That'll do for me!)

Thought that quote had someting to do with winter sale in a camping shop.
Now is the winter of our discount tent.
I think we should be in advertising
Ah well
Beer today. gone tomorrow.

Just a line concerning post efficiency and strike...
... I receive Saturday a letter posted 3 days before from the middle of Texas...
... but I still wait for letters posted 2 weeks ago 75 kms from le Mans!
It's fun to notice that concerning public service, French strikers always use the example of British rail privatisation. As a French humourist used to say "you big fart always smell better than the little one from someone else" :P
-
Unusual to see "French" and "humourist" in the same sentence isn't it? ;) (Only teasing Gilles!)
Actually the guy has a point...
