Title: 1 Camping Ticket Wanted
Post by: Fran on March 01, 2005, 11:51:43 pm
Ok - i have signed the guestbook, i have my £70 ferry booked and i have even put out a call for the perfect tent sharing companion..... all i need now is a camping ticket!

Or am i still a bit too early to be worrying?

Would love to get back to Houx Annexe again this year but that might be too much to hope for....  :'(

Lol - I thought I would just keep my options open with my own ticket!!

 ;D

To be honest Fran, there don't seem to be that many tickets floating around at this time. Several on "that site" seem to be going for huge amounts over face value (more fool the bidders)

Last year there were dozens, nay hundreds, of spare tickets for sale in this section of the forum in the last month. And at that stage many tickets on "that site" were selling for less than face value.

I wouldn't panic.................YET!!  ;)

Could be quite spacious on MB this year then??

I don't really mind as we've finally got our act together this year and got the advance party arriving on Monday morning so we'll have our acre staked and claimed!!  ;D  What time shall we be there for breakfast??  ;D

We'll have plenty of sausages and bacon with us, but in all seriousness a warm bbq to knock up a quick brekkie before we unpack the van and start making up the camp could be quite handy!!

What boat are you on this year Brian??

Sir, the use of our gas barbie is all yours if you would like to use it. We are out on the vomit comet 0730 Sunday morning and back on the 2300 Monday night.
Should be on MB Sunday afternoon.
Brian. ;D

Brian,
I may be asking if you would allow me to put my kippers under your grill.
It's looking like a 'back to basics' year for us, with no vans or mothership going down. So it's going to be tales from a small tent, which I predict will mean, amongst other things, warm beer, green sausages and dysentry. It's going to be a real deja-vu experience all over again, we've spoilt ourselves over the years with increasing levels of comfort and inebriation. Maybe Jaguar will win, as well.
Mysteriously, Uncle Albert is taking his van, but insists it will be full. I can't imagine with what, a man can only use so much 3-in-1 oil. Maybe he's planning on bringing back some eastern europeans.
Talking of Jaguar, I found this on the web the other day, I'm sure fax will enjoy it...

On  aserious note H, if we do get the van/mini bus type vehicle we are thinking of then if you have a fridge you want us to take down it may be possible. (all depends on what vehicle we end up with if course)

We're looking for something fairly big as there'll be 6 of us in the advance party with all 23 peoples camping gear, two fridges, a freezer, tables, chairs, bbq's etc.

Come on Fran, you should know that any thread likes to weave it's merry way back and forth from the original subject, to the far side of Mars and back again.

At least there's not been any mention of the Commer yet!  ;)

Commer we have enough trouble keeping up with adventures of the Commer on the Commer thread so no more mentioning the Commer ::)

What would you wnat taking down H (ooh-er missus)

To be honest, our plan is to buy a van from BCA, use it for Le Mans, then sell it on privately and hope to get our money back so it doesn't really matter if we go for a bigger van (subject to it fitting within the dimensions of the ferry ticket of course!) When are you travelling down H?

Post by: BigH on March 03, 2005, 10:48:48 am
As usual JP I'm willing to take everything down.
On the hardware front though, I'm trying to get an inventory from the lads and see what we'll be needing. Ideally, room for a fridge and genny would be great, but let me wait and see what they come back with.

Team Cannonball potentially have a Beausjour ticket going spare. Not that attractive an option but i'll give you face value plus p+p.

One of our lot has used all his leave up in Portugal with the missus. I tell you he took some pelters.

Its not in our possession obviously but i have the invoice from the ACO

I think as soon as HA tickets get out on here there's gonna be a mass brawl for them,

That said at least the thread is back on track & you know how people get so many postings, something to do with a Commer apparently?? ;)

I am sorted with a nice lil Camping Bleu ticket now (although there is always that nagging doubt till its actually gripped in ya sticky mitt isnt there!!) - so thanks for all the advice and offers - espectially the ones that were relevant to getting hold of a ticket!  ;)

Who else is gonna be on Bleu then?  It is the campsite i was in on my very first visit to Le Mans and seem to recall it was a nice sociable place.

I believe the Caterham crowd will be on there as usual. Not sure if they will be on such  a big scale now as Arnie has stepped down from being thier organiser.

I believe The Twaats will be there too, as will Barry, Andy, and I'm sure a few others from here.

If you get an offer later on for an MB ticket Fran then you can always take it and resell the Bleu ticket on here!! Otherwise call over to MB for a drink anyway, and don't forget the 'poo bar on Saturday night!!

Hi Fran

We'll be there and I believe the Wilfman is bringing a mob down with him this year.
Usually in the 2nd field as by the time we arrive on Wednesday am all pitchs in the shade under trees have gone in the 1st. Also you avoid the dust kicked up by the perimeter track. 2nd field is grass.
As long as you arrive before Friday you can stake out a huge area if you need it.

Still a nice socialable site with room to swing a cat

In the run up to the race there is usually a thread with peoples travel plans/ vehicles/ camp sites on, so you can play spot the fellow Club Arnager from a distance, don't forget to get one of Robbo's excellent t shirts, good way to meet others from the site.
