Hi all,
This is my first post on the forum. Its my first Le Mans.
I've wanted to go for a long time, thanks to the Beermountain
team for their great site for inspiring us to do it this year.
And for answering those questions on how to keep our
beer cold!
We are Team DMC and have just been confirmed for
Beausejour.
Does anyone know what sort of facilities this site has?
Best Regards
Nick H

Hi Nick, welcome to this forum. Hope you get enough info from this site to go to LeMans prepared enough.
I was at Le Mans last Sunday (long story, never mind), most recent picture of the site is in this topic>>
http://www.clubarnage.com/yabbse/index.php?board=1;action=display;threadid=3025;start=15
For the rest, Beausejour is a friendly, multi lingual crowd. Great facilities as for toilets and showers, but the chippy van is too expensive (like all over the circuit).
-
Cos your new Nick I've split your post from the other one and given you you very own thread ;)
-
Smokie, your generosity knows no bounds!
-
Thanks Guys,
Sounds ok. can't wait!
Best Regards
Nick H :)

-
Hi Bobblehat,
You won't miss us! Just look for the Gullwings and stainless steel.
Look forward to seeing you there.
Best Regards
Nick H
-
Nick, by the 'dmc' in your name and the mention of stainless steel, am I right in deducing this means 'DeLorean'?
-
Hi Steve,
Yes, including mine we should have about 4 DeLorean's from the UK.

Great news can we bring anything for the mircowave?

I look forward to seeing everyone at BSJ, our first year there. Especially looking forward to seeing these microwave stunts. Is there any particular chemical compounds you are interested in microwaving. Team Cannonball has particular access to these kind of things.
Anyhoo. I have ordered my CA shirt for me and the missus so if you spot us come say hello.
Look forward to seeing the DMC's. Are any of you called McFly.
J
-
Hi Jay,
I thought blowing things up in microwaves was
just somthing that Cavers did! A mispent youth caving
and climbing... we found that hilti cartridges work really well
in wood burning stoves!
Cans of de-icer droped down a piece of pipe wedged in a
fire work well as mortors.
For any younger readers please don't try these.
No Mcfly's :-) and the Flux capacitor is a optional extra!
Regards
Nick H

Cool looks as if we could all be making a bit of a mess on BSJ (personaly tend to get in a bit of a mess anyway!) What with microwaves blowing things up and time travel.
Jay what chemical compounds were you thinking of?
Tom D-G are you bringing the laser?
-
If you search around on the site there were some intresting discussions last yearabout the use of liquid oxygen to light bbq's and some very good pictures will see if i can find them
-
Chris I rember those post, got me very scared as it was Tom D-G who started it and was camping next door to him, please dont give him any ideas :)
-
Someone told me that microwaving ammonium nitrate would blow the microwave up completely. I believe it is one of the main constituents in fertilizers.
-
To answer a few questions.
The link you were loooking for Chris is The George Goble Page (http://web.archive.org/20021003203611/ghg.ecn.purdue.edu/~ghg/) or did you mean My sample page (http://tmdg.co.uk/movies/)
BobbleHat I will be taking the Laser Crab. ;)
Jay if you provde the Nitrate we can try to Blow the bloddy door off!! ;D
I'll have to see If I can find the Pic of my lap top being used as a Chock by a wrecker truck on the Sunday Evening.

Hmmmm,
I'll have a wander round the lab and see what interesting things i can find. However, I'm not sure i should be encouraging you after all, i am camping on Beausjour this year too. Wouldn't like to be at the centre of the mushroom cloud so to speak.
A laser crab? Or is this something that i should even bother asking.

I tryed a few things last year that were very disapointing. I tried a lap top but nothing happened. Light bulbs seem to be the best. Though you only seem to be able to Microwave them once. The second time they don't glow.
CDs are good but I think the smoke may be a bit toxic if you cook them for too long..
I think Magnesium can prove intresting but I've never had any to try.

Hey Tom,
Something for you to try in the microwave. Xmas Tree Baubles.
If you fancy destroying the microwave i read that putting a freezer pack in the microwave will lead to total destruction.
Magnesium would probably work quite well.

Look forward to meating up again, have you got the same crowd with you this year?
-
No Just four of us. Doris, Brick and Swisstony and myself.
How much space do you want?
t.
-
Tom it looks like we are going to need more space than you!
We have the camper (but no Moke, boo hiss!!) a Scoob/Bora/Tiger Robins not sure wich, and two other cars and 10 people, plus Norbert!
So most of that bottem corner........................................

If it's still the same Scooby from The Classic I'd vote for that!! :)
And please try to kepe Norbert away from Bear Zarse this time!!!! ;)
-
Norbert will be on a tight leash, but he likes it like that!!!! If Robin brings the Scoob it will the same at the one as at Classic. BTW the Tiger is faster..........
-

And rarer, Robin was regreting not bringing the Tiger to the Classic. Oh to be so lucky to have a choice between these 3 motors :)
-

Have to be honest and say I have no idea what a Tiger is, apart from the one on my Frosties packet! :) How many people can you get in it?
-
Sunbeam Tiger, 1964 to 1967
Sunbeam Alpine with an american V8 in it. 4260cc or 260cu in.
Vroom Vroom ;D
There was at least one at the Classic, as they used to be raced at Le Mans.

Hi there all,
Nearly Barry - you are correct with the specs for a Mk1
MEL as she is known to her friends is a rare RHD Mk2
Which equals 4.7 or 289 cu in in standard form (ie same block as a 289 Cobra) or in MEL's case 5.0 or 302 cu in, was on a rolling road earlier in the year to sort a fuelling problem, the RR read up to 350bhp and once the fualling was sorted she sent the dial off the top of the scale as it were ;D
I am sure Gibberish will be 1st in the cue for a ride after his ride in the Scooby at the classic ;)
Will try and find a pic of the Tiger to post, looks now as it it will almost certainly be Tiger or Scoob now as I picked the Bora up on Monday and suspension issue it is suffering from doesn't seem to be sorted.
See you all there
Robin

Hi Robin,
Where did you get a RHD Mk 2 from?
I thought that they were not sold in UK, so presumed Mk 2's were LHD only.
See you in LM, have a safe trip.
-
Hi Robin, youv been lurcking again!!!! ;)
Whats up with Boris? It's flip a coin time between Mel and Scoob
BTW Norbert will be at Kieths on Friday to be tucked up in the camper.
-
I hope that Norbert the Gnome is going to behave himself on the 07:45 Weds SpeedFerries ::)
-
Bear Z is getting worried already.

Do you know, I some how doubt it :o
I was woundring if the ofspring of the Bear Z and Norbert are coming allong, it would be so nice to have a family reunion.............. Or has Bear Z got a restaining order on him!

Hi Barry,
You are basically right. There are believed to be somewhere between 12 and 14 Mk 2's which are considered to be genuine RHD, of these around 7 or 8 are thought to still exist.
Approx. 6 or 8 of these were prototype or development cars and on these the exact spec varies.
Then when Chrysler took over Rootes and more or less immediately canned the Tiger as it was Ford engined, the Rootes management had a problem in that Mk 2's had been promised to a small number of VIP customers ie major dealer principals and the like.
As a result 6 Mk 2 Tigers were retreived from the dockside where they were due to be shipped to the USA and delivered complete with all the necessary parts to be rebuilt as RHD cars to Hartwell Garages. This was duly done and these 6 cars also got a few other extras such as magnesium Minilites....
As these cars were rebuilt as RHD cars prior to initial registration they are regarded as being 'genuine' UK RHD cars, they are known as the Hartwell Tigers and MEL is one of those 6 cars. I have been her keeper since 1992.
Have a safe journey,
Robin
PS this link is to a Classic & Sportscar article in which MEL appeared in Feb 2001

Same reason we didn't take him on the MSA Euroclassic, still a bit wobbly in the suspension department, although I may take him out again over the weekend and make a final decision.
All this despite the ministrations of the fine people at Bill McGrath's :-\
