Due to someones lack of holiday we are currently planning to arrive on the friday at about 2pm, staying on BSJ.
Is this madness? Will there be any space left or should I ignore the holidayless idiot and change my sailing to the thursday?

For the sake of being in LM one day earlier, I would go with the latter rather than the former.
-
Alternatively, (and depending on how much space u need) you might prevail on the generosity for some other kind CA posters who are on BSJ to bags u a space!
I, on the other hand (having been advised that my holiday challenged friend cant make it AT ALL this year) am considering stretching to over 3 weeks and taking in the pre qual for the first time! ;D
Good luck!

Hi Rob,
Why not go on Wednesday instead bonus of night practice nad extra drinking time ::) and pick the daft bastard up at the Gare in time for the Driver Parade. I doubt you will have a problem on BSJ on Friday though.

Thanks for the advice but after a few beatings he's seen sense and so we are now going overnight on wednesday to arrive in plenty of time on thursday morning. Is anyone else going overnight from Poole to Cherbourg?
-
Glad to see your mate has seen sense! And I bet next year he'll be telling you that you need to leave even earlier!!!! :D
We're not on that route this year robspot, but we have previously.
There will be a few Le Mans'ers on board, but not as many as the Pompey crossings!. Generally we've found the Poole crossing to be much quieter. The guys at the port are very relaxed, and are quite happy to let you check in, park your car to the side, and walk back to the "The Ferryman" for a few swift ones, as long as you let them know what you are doing, and you get back at a sensible time to board.
If you're not planning on getting there early for a beer, make sure you give yourself an extra 15 minutes before last check-in case the bridge is lifted!
Glad it's all worked out well for you, and we'll see you down there!!!! Make sure you ae at the 'poo bar at 21:00 on Saturday night and make yourself known to someone else in a CA t-shirt!! :D

Without wishing to be blasphemous and showing my complete lack of knowledge and breeding - where exactly is said shampoo bar?
-
Not sure if it is blasphemy but if you wander up the road at the back of the pits (UP = uphill!) and walk past the entrance to the ACO Welcome area, I believe the Champagne Bar is a little higher near the funfair on the right. If it isn't, join me hobbling around on my bloody bad knees and we will find it together. The wearing of the CA tee shirt is advised as a recignition factor though. Even worked in Carrefour last year when I bumped into JPChenet, right by the stacks of wine of the same name....

OK, directions to Poo bar.
Taken from another thread here at CA, here is a map
(http://www.swr2002.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/maps/Shampoo.jpg)
Basically, cross under the circuit using the tunnel at the end of the start/finish straight to the INNER side of the the track, and the Poo bar is on the corner to the left as you exit the tunnel.
After 18 years of Le Mans, I plan to enjoy the delights of the Poo bar for the first time this year ;D

I believe you'll have to drink Cava!

Steve, you weren't planning to let me miss this again this year were you.....?
A reminder would be welcome as I might just be "afloat" by nine o clock! Wouldn't want to be "adrift" as well!

Smokie looks really familiar. Is he from Coventry or Bournemouth? (or if you're reading this Smokie are you from Coventry or Bournemouth?)

Looking at this, looks like Friday arriveal is a no no. However, due to work, women and late bookings, will be coming down on Friday Afternoon heading for MB. As this is a stag weekend not too bothered about a brillant pitch, and I know to pitch away from the woods, but will there be space for a 5 man tent, 1 gazebo and 1 car. If not anyone fancy a crate of beer to keep a good(ish) pitch for us? 8)
-
There will be space for a small set-up like your Neil, it will just be towards the back of the site and so slightly further away from the village and grandstands.
-
Cheers.
If anyone fancy joining us in the beer race, we'll be at the back.
