Title: HELP
Post by: Penelope Pitstop on April 13, 2005, 01:55:20 pm
Now lets start with what I do have - one press pass to LM 24 and one VIP pass, a tent, a good looking young man to come with me and a car to get there.

What I don't have is somewhere to pitch the bloody tent!!

Considering how many events I attend I can't believe how difficult Le Mans is to sort out.

Can anyone help with Camp site passes, phone numbers or such?

Any ideas welcome... a very humble and probably unrealistic idiot.. :-[

Thanks

I would have thought either the press pass or VIP pass will get you on a campsite somewhere ???

If there is nothing on either pass about being able to camp somewhere, you'll be able to pick up one on this Sell or Swap board here a CA, although it's not too likely to be the one you would choose, you will most likely get something!! :)

Maybe one of the LM locals knows a bit more?? I think one of the regular posters used to get press access as well. Just keep your eyes peeled!!

Welcome by the way!! ;D

Rick Wilson (Rickmeister / Mr Rick) of the Maisonblanche website used to have a press pass.  Hopefully he'll drop by to add his words of wisdom.

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiccckkkkkk................

Thanks - don't have either pass yet as being organised by a driver - will sort out the press stuff this weekend at Spa so may be a little presumptious that I won't get anywhere to camp but need to be prepared (well as prepared as I can be) - just spent the afternoon looking for my passport.

Anyway good to be here and hope to see some of you at the track someday.

Cheers for the help...thanks Steve too - come on Rick where are you...;-)

I believe the ACO still have some tickets available for Beausejour. Not ideal as it's a bit of a distance from the main village but handy for the Porsche Curves.

Also, keep an eye on the Sell or Swap section as tickets always crop up on there (at face value).

Good luck

Brilliant - I will keep a look out for anything that comes on here tonight but then I'll be marooned in Spa for the weekend. I will have the lap top though so may have time to keep dipping into the forum.

Anyone going?

Hi PP

Happy Snapper will be hanging around the media room and more likely the bar in Spa from Friday.  He'll be the big bloke with the camera!   ;D

There is no camp site provided with Le Mans media accreditation so you'll need to sort something out.  I've just sold my BSJ tickets, but they'll be tickets around over the next few weeks I'm sure.

I can't go to Spa - double booked myself with Pembrey ::)

The hot money is on Hedgehunter, mark my words.

Whoops, wrong weekend, that was last Friday's intended post, sorry.

A car will probably win.

Who cares anyway? I'm after the fat b*stard with the camera & press passes... :)

What's Pembrey?

::) ::)  I know, I know oooh tough choice, Pembrey or Spa??!!  So where do I end up whilst everyone else is going to Spa.  It's only 'cos I'm conscientious or is it because of the money!  Bit of a problem with the calendar planning at the beginning of the year.....

That sounds like fun, hope your boy does OK - I'm not sure my money would be on him.  I'd like to see Shorty, Rob and Vanina do well.

Ah well, I shan't be too jealous when it's raining in Pembrey and you're all in Spa - still at least it'll probably be raining there too!!

Enjoy all!

Just so that you feel a little better we got absolutely drenched yesterday at Spa and it was freezing cold to boot!!

Minassian on the front row though and your guys 6th...but anything can happen it's a long race.

Have a good time in Pembrey!!

I've had regular updates on the Spa weather and it sounds like it's been pretty bad.  Having said that it's been freezing cold and raining for two days in Pembrey AND to cap it all they've had football semi-finals at the Millenium Stadium so getting out of Wales has been chaos!

BUT REALLY to cap it all - it appears that our Sky box died sometime after I left on Friday and I have six hours of long play video of a frozen frame of the view from an onboard camera out of the back of a car window!  I am SO not happy it's untrue...... So if anyone has LMES (and perhaps ALMS which followed it) on video and would be prepared to send it to me (for beer tokens, naturally) I'd be very happy.

But on the upside I understand that Martin, Rob and Vanina finished third in class so I suppose it's not all bad ;D

Did I feel a plonker in Spa? There was someone answering your description and accompanying a Ferrari driver at the LM autograph session so I said Hi, are you Penelope Pitsop?

She wasn't.  :-\

Smokie, I would have paid good money to see you do that!

If we have LMES on tape you can have a copy with pleasure - just got back from Spa so not had chance to check the obedience of my video yet.

Was the woman you approached blonde - because she works for the Ferrari drivers - I just work with Nicolas Minassian and we weren't so lucky Sunday either...shame cos the guys drove the wheels off the thing. (I'm brunette by the way)

Yeah good point - the pic I put up was brunette - I might be called Penelope Pitstop because I drive like her but I don't look like her (unfortunately)... ;)

I used to write Penelope's Pitstop (about F1) hence the name!!

Errrrm....my recollection was a 39 yo female, though I don't know why. I'm usually pretty reliable at identifying the latter but the former sometimes is bit more random - often +/- 10 years!  ::)

That's not fair Smokie - going and looking at my profile...but how many 39 yr olds were there at the weekend - I was the one with the bright orange t-shirt on and or a bright red puffa jacket weather dependant!!

I like to be noticed....  8) Obviously didn't work though!!
