Hi Gilles, what are the chances of getting insurance for a 14 year old to ride a 49cc moped in France? I expect the lack of a French address and French ID will be a major problem? I am just trying to do it the right way, (for a change) thanks, Pat

I was just thinking moped boy had gone a bit quiet! :-[

yes sorry about moped boy, he is 14 on the 14th June and very excited about this trip to LM, his third, he usually has his birthday when I am there, nearly his birth, I think the race was late that year! has been the cause of a few discusions over the years, his birthday being the race week, anyone care to guess the date for next years race? I have been invited to a wedding on the 17th June 2006!!!!!!! bugger,
Pat

Aha... I wondered if we knew his dad...
I have one whose birthday is 18th June. When I capable of remembering, I raise a glass (well, usually a bottle) to her.
Hasn't happened often ::)

We forgive you Matchlesspat, But I wonder if the race next year might not slip back into it's usual slot.
It is a week later this year than we (and the ACO) expected after all, so may be it'll be earlier, but 10th/11th June
seems a bit early dunnit?
Fingers crossed!
:)

Are you denying dressing up like that then?? Best thing is to keep quiet :-X :-X then the thread (and your shame) will eventually slip to page 2 and beyond...

But has anyone got any info on French insurance for Moped Boy? can it be bought? how much? where? I would rather not have him riding pillion, might shave my eyebrows whilst I am riding the old army Matchless,
Pat ???
-
This might be something only a genuine french person can answer - and i havent seen Gilles online so much recently.
Have you tried enquiring of someone like the AA or RAC - they may possibly have some info thats of some use to you - i know they deal with some sorts of european travel advice etc?
Cant really think of any other usefull suggestions.

As far as I am aware, you need a license to get insurance, and be resident in the country you wish to be insured in!
-
Fran, you seem like a nice lady. Do you like men in (or out of) uniforms?
-
Either way PC in or out - do you have a flak jacket by any chance? :P
-
I get quite a bit of Flak at the station because of my model looks, but I don't need any extra form of protection! ;)
-
Well you do look like a model PC thats true! but surely these days everyone needs protection :o
F

But I'm a 70's kind of guy. I even ride round without a helmet :o

Watch out for that dodgy copper. He tried to close down my chip oil recycling facility. The chip van runs okay on it but the exhaust is a bit smokey.
Anyway, I've got a traders policy for the chip van and the trailer, and I occasionly strap the boat to the roof so that I can toss my hook and try for a battered sausage or two. The Irish Sea is very pleasant at this time of the year.
I've considered fitting out a moped with a sidecar with a chip fryer in it so that I can tour around the campsites to bring my fine marine produce to the happy campers.

So Smokie, are you saying if we post on this tread it will keep going to the top(ish) of page one? My word, that must get right up Moped Boys nose if we keep adding a comment ;D ;D ;D

Trust me, moderators can do just what they like ;)
Don't take it to heart, it's only a bit of friendly teasing... :-* :-*

If you can answer the question of who moderates the moderators, then a degree in philosophy is yours for the taking.
-
Everything in moderation, that's what I say (oh, and boiiiinnng)
-
No what ???

was there a question about moderating, all so long ago now.... I personally think the moderator does an exemplary job :D
