Can someone inform me what the Hippodrome in the middle of the circuit is all about/used for ??? ???

It's a bit like the Pleasuredrome  But only the 'Hip' people go there.
On the outside of the circuit is the Aerodrome where you can get Aero should you get a Choc-on.  Hence you often hear the them call "Chocks Away".

It was also the place where the first flight took place in europe, by the Wright brothers. Looked for the memorial last year but couldn't find it, must have been the beer vision!

I remember stubling into it about midnight, and wondering what on earth it was.  Its then a short walk to the Mulsanne, so I'm told.

Trotting (with a cart on the back) is very popular in that part of France - you'll see horse boxes with the cart stapped to the back door.  But the Hippodrome has large privet bushes to jump, and I wouldn't have thought this would work well with a cart.

I've heard of toasting the winner, but not on a barbeque

Ah that would explain why I thought it was a toilet, I always believed it had something to do with  a Pony and Trap.  :-\ :-*
