What CDs will be in YOUR autochanger for the journey?
-
AFI - Sing The Sorrow
Ramones Tribute Album
Incubus - Morning View
White Stripes - Elephant
Plus a compilation or two - thanks to the chap who invented CDRW
-
Well as none of us have bought any new CDs lately,I expect it'll be various rock compilations and Dire Straits Telegraph Road/Private Investigations when leaving LeMans.
Luckily Canada Phil's mate wont be there with his appalling Cajun Musik this year.

Should this topic have been "what cartridges are you taking for your 8 track?" ;D
-
No pan pipes then?
-
Bat out of Hell - Meatloaf.
Blues Brothers Soundtrack
Dylan at At Budokan and Nashville Skyline
and .... lots of Springsteen.
;)

Nothing probably. The Commer has one of those old gas powered radios but the pilot light keeps going out.
-
Andy, in that case make sure you take, Come on baby light my fire.
-
Mister Z,
Have you sorted out your wheel bearing problems yet? As opposed to your general bearings which seemed a 'tad on the giddy side' the other night. A fine post by the way, courage under fire, a dedication to duty etc. Or maybe just completely c*nted.
It brought to mind my 'second most embarassing post pub moment', first spot being occupied by the surprise lavatory tale, but as it's not really LM stuff, maybe I'll keep it to myself...
Finally got my motor back on the road this weekend, also complete with a brand new MOT. This is the first year I've taken out AA cover, so christ knows what I'll actually arrive in. Whatever it is, music, although a great love of mine, will be entirely superfluous. That's usually the first part of the cortex to go. Maybe a little Andy Williams.
And about the wheel bearings, don't f*ck around, replace the wheels with skis and take plenty of vaseline.

H, my wheel bearing are fine now (touches wood), unlike the bearing in my head. The hot starting problem persists though, it's the Evil Curse of Malcolm and Janet. So upon leaving the pub this evening I went to see the local Vicar to ask his help to get it excorcised. Having explained the problem, he told me I had meddled with powers beyond my imagination and best to f**k off son. He had been at the communion wine again.
Hope the Jagwarr behaves this year, unlike it's owner. Oh, will you be bringing Little H this time or have you thought better of it?
PS Why will you have a Little Andy Williams in the car? Will Raoul not be jealous?
-
I've been making compilations on minidiscs so on the way to LM I will mostly be listening to classic rock, such delights as Deep Purple's Highway Star ("8 cylenders, all mine..." I wish....)
Oh, and a bit of folk-rock for those, er, folk-rock moments....
-
i have the walkman plugged into the intercom pumping the helmet with AC/DC, led zep, purple, floyd, and more compilation to drive me there and back.
-
No CD, no cassette, no radio - just the engine, induction and exhaust to harmonise and play tunes with. But if I did, then it would probably be a mix of Blues Brothers, Queen, U2 etc
-
Ahh yes, perhaps I will give Alfa FM a few hours listening too...!
-
Alfa engine is all I've got or froggy radio until we get wih RLM distance of the circuit....
-
The best of Burt Bacharah...
... because soap songs are the best way to appreciate motoring songs ! :o
-
This is a big subject Smokie, Up North crew are steeped in LM music tradition...such as..
Once we are congregated the first song we always listen to is Thunder by AC/DC, live version. As we enter Le Mans we always play Van Halen - Jump.
In between its a mixture of Doors, Floyd, Zep, Rush, Joe Satriani, Ministry, Marilyn Manson will make a debute this year on account of him being good at Donnington, Def Leppards Hysteria album always gets a go as does most Van Halen albums. Santana works well with the bbq.
So there you have it !

After seeing all these AC DC, Van Halen, Led Zepplin, Pink Floyd stuff going down, I think I better leave my Jemini and my Fast Food Rockers albums at home. Obviously you lot are heathens when it comes to appreciating good music. Bunch of old soap dodging hippies if you ask me. Get your hair cut.

Theres nothing annoys me more than loud music. I have to say that music was my first love ( I used to think it shone like the sun), but now as I’m sitting here in my car, I have only one love….. Cars. My wife can’t see the interest. All I get of her is “ And I want and I need” etc etc. In fact all I ask for, all I pray for is a quiet private life. In the mornings when I get up, look out the window at the November rain and light my fire ( its so easy I can’t do it) I always look back at Le mans and wish I could turn back time and re-live some of the moments. Then I think all we need is just a little patience and it will be time to go next year. No one knows how much I love this race. I’m looking forward to next week as I know my friends are gonna be there to.
Right I can all see you saying, 'What the hell is he rambling on about'. Well included in the piece of crap are 15 songs. either by title or some lyrics from a song. Nearly all of them are by groups mentioned in this thread. Answers please pop-pickers

From the songs I selected and including both Cars as 1 you have 8. I actually missed Its So Easy by GnR so give yourself a bonus point. Therefore 9 / 16. Great attempt. I'll leave it a few more days then cough the answers. A couple are quite subtle.

Easy listening not included. All are rock groups not pap (sorry pop) music. Oh and while I'm on Mark, leave your records at home.
Cheers Stu.

It seems we are all "ROCK MONSTERS".
I guess the scoob could be rocking to:
Feeder (GT3 anyone)
Pink Floyd (goes without saying, which album is the question, "Wish You Were Here", for me)
ZZ Top (just rediscoverd "Deguello" pefect, fast cars fast women.......)
Sterophonics (scoobs owners fav)
Avril Lavine (as above)
Ian Dury and the Blockheads(why not totaly bonkers)
Led Zep(The masters)
Turin Breakes (just a great sound)
Hell I hope the CD changers big enough!

cant hear knack all at 6500 in the Se7en but if I could then it would be Two Unlimited, dont understand the music but its great to drive to.
-
Don't worry Stu, I'm not saying that they are my taste in music!!
We will be pumping out a few tunes, but I am sure they will be (mostly) to your liking. I think I've convinced our two that were going to bring their electric guitars with them to leave them at home though!! Otherwise the music drowns out the sound from the "Videos!!!" :o
-
Do radio Le Mans still play "when the going gets tougth the tougth get going" for the most deserving pit crew?
They played it the first few years, can't remember since
-
Yee Haaaa
thanks to Jem's earlier post, i hoofed out my Joe Satriani, surfing with the alien. bloody brill riding riffs.
-
Do RLM still play "Self Preservation Society" from the Italian Job every bleeding possibilty.
Cos it got right on my tits last time I was out, almost ruined the film for me.

Which brings me on to the story about Michael Caines party in the 60's with every one there including the Beatles and Jim Morrison and co. Jim got a bit bored and said to Michael that he was away. Fearing the party would dive, he told Jim and his mates to go upstairs and there was a girl with the best mouth action in the country (trying to kep it clean Smokie). So of they went and she did the lot fantastically. Just as Jim was finished in walked Ringo Starr. Whats going on he says. Here Ringo try this, says Jim its fantastic. So the girl sets to work on Ringo and in walks Micahael Caine. What the F***s going on he shouts. The girl terrified explains that she was just sorting out Ringo. I can see
that says Michael, but I told you... You were only supposed to blow the bloody doors off.
Sorry for that, couldn't help myself

;D
Brilliant!!
