Flag poles?  What do you use, how much? Is there a cheap option?!

-
We have pikied all the abandoned gazzebo, poles that have been left over the years, a bit of stout tape around the joints, how high do you want to go.
Become a pikie not a llama.
-
Used the gazebo poles my seif at  LM last year and Sebring last year too, but they are a bit difficult to lug around the circuit. So as you know from Sebring this year, I now use a telescopic fishing rod for my mobile flag pole.

-
I've borrowed a telescopic fishing rod too this year.

-
the T.W.A.T.S. use a mixture of '7m roach poles', 4.5m decorator poles and 4.5m golf ball retreivers!!! you can even jubilee clip some of tese together to reach the mir space station.

I have a 7 meter flag pole that I bought at a motorhome show. They do all lenghts that are telescopic upto about 10 meters. 7 meter was about 30GBP. There is another show at Stratford Race Course this weekend the 7-8 June. There are usually a few stalls selling camping acc. aswell. About 5GBP to get in if I remember rightly.

Here is a picture of my van at the Classic last year.

Nice camouflage paint job on the van rcutler... :)

-
We have a 10m ally job. But it's not very portable as it weighs a ton, very stable though.
Available mail order through Portfolio Displays at http://www.portfolio-display.co.uk/

-
				Who mentioned money??? ;D

-
If thinking of buying try http://www.flagstaffs.co.uk. They do every type from portable to massive.

I tried several times uploading the image as a JPEG gif and in several different sizes but ended up thinking that maybe every one else can see but no me!! try again.

That's great. I can get me a wall mounted pole for my house to really piss off the neighbours.
I'll also get one of those windsock jobbies so that Trayboy can air his wanking sock before he leaves for home.

rcutler - want to mail me the imnage and I will try to fix it? smokie@stones.com

Do they sell flagpoles at the Supermarket?  ;D

Still pondering this one, need to revise last years design, whilst it worked it did suffer design flaws as well as being bulky to get in the car!
-
Do they sell flagpoles at the Supermarket? Try 10 metres of salami sausages and squewers from the carrefour,
compact enough to carry around until you need to erect it, and you can eat it afterwards  ;D

As detailed above various attempts of poles have been used but a cunning plan in place this year.  This involves cultivating the bamboo from mother in laws garden and attaching to the roof of the disco for the journey.  Once on site with the clever use of ties and jubilee clips plus a bit of gaffer tape and Bob's your uncle.

It will also come in useful for thatching the gazeebo and building the shower screen.................

I like the sound of the Daiwa Spectron Roach pole - 16m long(!) and weighs only 1.3 kg.

Only problem - retail price £1999.00.............
-
6M telescopic fishing rod purchased 2nd hand from a fishing tackle shop the other day for a fiver!

Take the very last thin piece out to avoid too much bending and cable tie to the gazebo legs.

Alright, I know that 6m is an amateur effort but we do have four of them if that makes up for it?

				Gents
Tres Hombres have 3 x 2metre stainless steel sections with threaded joints complete with cunning perpendicular boom section to support the flag.
Thing is, we ain't got a flag!
I could just hang last year's Bretheren t shirt on it I suppose.......

Yeah, some of them are really starting to kick up. You're welcome to them. String 'em from your yardarm with pleasure m'lud.

an' i never got one... >:(

Just remember troops that the union flag should be flown the right way up ,see rcutler postings, his graphic shows the broad white stripe to the top which is correct Sorry to be a bore but if were proud lets be right..

-
Very correct posting I must agree and as you correctly put UNION FLAG. No one at Le Mans can fly a UNION JACK as is only a union jack when flown on a government building or military post.

If the flag is upside down it is an old distress signal used in the old sailing days.
Very amusing when watching England Hooligans waving it upside down with no idea what the are saying the rest of the world.

If your flag can stay attached to your Disco, your not driving hard enough!

Localised experiments have shown that the flag becomes dangerous at speeds above 100 mph
-
so, what is the French for "Flag Pole"...  but it may be a very obvious thing to spot at the supermarket tho...

-
				Poteau de drapeau

According to the online translator. I wish I could take it on holiday.

A good one is to get your mates to order the french delicacy

 le boeuf  rideaus

 Always good for a laugh.
For a translation cut and paste here. (http://www.freetranslation.com/) Make sure its on French to English of course.

If I can get the disco to speeds approaching that with the amount of clobber we have it will be a miracle.  Flags should be safe, we will in addition to the normal St Georges flag and Union Jack be flying The Royal Ensign and The Queens Colours.  Also probably Mr Sharpes shreddies and the toilet seat lifted from the Camomile Hotel in Dieppe last year....................

We are only looking to fly a British and Danish flags, and will see what we can do!

 Nice to see  ;)

Our flag pole is usually approaching 55+ ft, takes a lot of effort to drag it from the woods
Are you suggesting that you use a nicked tree as a flagpole?

I suggest that you just did  ;)
-
Don't talk to me about the words "flagpoles" and "nicked" in the same sentence.

In fact dont mention "sentence" either, cos that is what I nearly got from the police. Fortunately they let me off with a good roughing up in the cells. Quite fair I thought, as I was innocent as charged.
