Just getting things rolling here in sunny and very hot Florida.Just wanted to say hi to everyone in CA land.So let me here whats up out there today! ???
-
Randy, by co-incidence, I've just got into the office having been at a lunchtime wedding of an old friend and sometime Le Manner. No Cowmen or gorillas though! (For those who don't know, I first met Randy at a wedding in Sebring.)
And later on tomorrow afternoon, I'll be going down to Cowes on the Isle of Wight with Paul Zarse for the world famous international yachting regatta. It has the biggest bar in the world in the yacht haven, live bands and a humongous firework display to round it off. David Coulthard is racing for the first time. I reckon he'll finish in the midfield as usual. ;)
-
Good lord Mr Zarse - i never realised you were a fellow yachtie!!!
-
Probably only in the same way that I am a race fan... ::) ::)

Precisely Smokie! I have the vaguest interest and I've done a bit of sailing in the caribbean but my nautical prowess really extends no further than the ability to drive the van onto Brittany Fisheries once a year.

At least you can tell port from starboard - unlike some unmentionables!

Did you enjoy Cowes week Andrew ?
I was there for a few days with the sailing folk too. I was hoping to buy a hobie cat racing dingy.
-
Sorry to be precise Hobie's aren't dingies

Ok ok, but they are fun and they are for racing
-
They are fun and not really for racing in UK waters, maybe the states or the carribbean. If you are after a racing cat, ie one with two hulls, try a dart or similar, very active racing fleet on the south coast.

Peter, if you have aballast in the boat, anything is possible, especially on the south coast.

Just got back from lunch.I am now pricing an engine rebuild kit on a 1976 Pontiac 400 cid.The person I am quoting for lives in West Sussex,UK.Fellow goes by the ebay name iggy0_0.Does one recognize him,or know where W.Sussex is?
Sounds like a charming place. ;D
-
West Sussex is not far if you need collection of SMALL bits! Please don't ask me if I can bring the engine over in March. I may well be drunk when you ask!
-
Rick, Randy is quoting for someone, doesn't that mean that Randy want's to sell to the guy instead of buying from him???

1976 Pontiac 400 - well it's not me but I have one of those very engines in the black beasty.
Randy, I'm investigating the practicalities of swapping the TH350 for a 4 or 5 speed manual. I've got a suitable Pontiac belhousing. I need a flywheel and clutch assembly. I know these things are heavy, I'm just trying to work out if it's not too heavy to bring back from Sebring.
Your input into cost and weight would be most appreciated.
(btw, I'm writing this whilst listening to the new CD from The Who).

Well, Who's Next it ain't, but, given it's their first studio album for 24 years, it's better than nowt.
I reckon it'll grow on me, the best track is probably 'Mirror Door'.

Randy, there's a few of us CAers who live in West Sussex. It's a pretty quiet place except for London Gatwick Airport, fourth busiest international airport in the world and also Brighton, home of bohemian folk, artists and smackheads, goths, clubbers, also the gay and lesbian capital (surprised Smokie hasn't moved down here yet ;)), AKA London on sea.
Gibberish, Nordic, myself and Chris Z are all WS based. Steve Z is currently living in Kent next door, but he's Sussex born and bred. Home of the Brighton Speed Trials and the London to Brighton Run (this weekend!), which I think are two of the oldest motor sport events in the world. Hope this helps. ;D

That Sir has got to be the deal of the century! Those parts are probably not generally or easily available in the UK. Ford and Chevvy easier to get here but Tin Indian bits, well just ask Mr Brown!

A pub? One bl**din' problem with France so it's the Saumur from Intermarche again. B*st*rds - now I'm dreaming of a pint of Spitfire. Must get to Blighty before Christmas to renew acquaintance with the only thing I miss - a decent English pint. :'(
-
Debs, whats' wrong with the french traditional farmers beer, i always like a few bottles of that and of course there are always the wine and beer outlets at the ports?

Bottled??? Beer comes from a handpump. Although, having said that, there's a quite pleasant ale-type concoction from an outfit called "Le Brewery". It just ain't the same though.

Didn't really pub (Paris is quite expensive if you're not carefull where you order your beer) but a nice looking young lady shouted 'vingt quatre' at me at Saint Michel. ???
And I wasn't even wearing anything Le Mans, CA or DfH related. Freaked me girlfriend out though, as our roomnumber in the hotel was also 24. ;D

You're not the first one who asks Steve. ;D But no, and as said having a girlfriend wouldn't lead to anything anyway.
