Title: Re: Airfare Post by: rcutler on November 09, 2005, 10:23:28 pm Thats sound right about the prices for the June week being that much higher. You only have to see how much more we pay for the ferry in the said week.
Try the tour operators? Lufthansa via Germany, Virgin via Gatwick? Air France/KLM (same company). Title: Re: Airfare Post by: Canada Phil on November 10, 2005, 04:48:48 am Hi Randy,
In my experience prices come down in the late Spring. As already suggested try different days of the week and also different departure cities in US. Atlanta and Philly 2 examples but even Chicago can have good deals. Canada Phil Title: Re: Airfare Post by: Jonnyspa27 on November 10, 2005, 06:00:14 am got a price quote from Aer Lingus (ireland) for about $950 and that is the cheapest I've found thus far
Title: Re: Airfare Post by: Fax on November 10, 2005, 02:17:52 pm Randy & Phil,
I'm looking at $1099 for a Tuesday-Monday roundtrip on Delta direct from CVG to CDG. Thats about usual compared to recent years. The advantage I have is that within an hour of hitting the tarmac at CVG I can be sitting on my couch beginning the recouperation process. I do like British Air the best of all. really classy operation. but the best looking flight attendants I have ever seen EVER, were with Berlin Air from Vienna to Paris last year. I was absolutely speechless with the beauty of those ladies taking care of us.
Also, I see on Yahoo adds for cheap airfare to Paris from NY. you might want to check in there on that. Right now it's about $240 round trip but add on from Tampa/Orlando area. I have heard that direct flights from Orlando maybe cheaper than even Miama to Europe. You really just have to check lots of airports/airlines/and days of the week. Good luck and remember it just like a crap shoot. Hold your breath and hang on. Title: Re: Airfare Post by: rcutler on November 10, 2005, 05:55:40 pm United are not likely to go bust by then, Insider information from Dad (who works for them is good). I flew united to Sebring as a standby passenger and was treated well in most cases. Standby passengers usually cause a lot of grief for the Flight Attendants.
They do not fly to Orlando or Paris but their partner airlines do. United use Ted in the US and BMI and Lufhansha in the UK. If you fly to London it might be easier to come over with one of us then transfer to Paris though. Title: Re: Airfare Post by: rcutler on November 10, 2005, 05:59:16 pm Just looked at flights to Sebring, Sat 11th out Mon 20th Back, Direct flight with British Airways or Virgin for just £300!!!
Looks like I might be going to Sebring again then lads! ;D Title: Re: Airfare Post by: amazing 1 on November 10, 2005, 08:08:33 pm Just looked at flights to Sebring, Sat 11th out Mon 20th Back, Direct flight with British Airways or Virgin for just £300!!! Title: Re: Airfare Post by: gab on November 11, 2005, 06:28:12 am Found me a Munich-Atlanta-Miami flight with return over Philadelphia with Delta for €316.00 ??? Couldn`t resist it so I booked it, will be returning also to Sebring in 2006 ;D
Title: Re: Airfare Post by: Chris24 on November 11, 2005, 01:15:11 pm Ricks deal sounds about right. I have booked to fly direct from Manchester to Orlando with Virgin for £312.40p
Flying Tues 14th - Tues 21st Title: Re: Airfare Post by: rcutler on November 11, 2005, 01:54:24 pm The flight I punched in was LHR to ORD, Flying out on the 11th Saturday Before and Flying back on the Monday after. I only have 6 days leave left so I cannot extend it much more.
Will look at options like flying to Germany first and then on from there. Paying E300 about £200 plus easyjet to Munich should save about £50! Title: Re: Airfare Post by: Fax on November 11, 2005, 02:52:25 pm Most excellent news that you guys will be coming back.
Now all we need to do is get Mark, Steve, and Andy back onboard. Fax Title: Re: Airfare Post by: chop456 on December 19, 2005, 01:30:29 pm I seem to have overlooked this thread for the last 5+ weeks. ;D
Fares from ORD-CDG have been hovering around $1,150. That's for a nonstop on AA. It's $75 cheaper to fly from Ohio to Chicago, then on to Paris on the same plane. Go figure. ::) I'm about 9,000 FF miles short of doing this one for free, but I wouldn't get a nonstop on the way over. Of course once I complete my trip, I'll have enough miles to do it. Airfares are a weird thing, at least from my point of view. Example my Delta booking for my 2006 Sebring visit, Munich to Atlanta then Atlanta to Miami with return from Philadelphia to Atlanta then Atlanta to Munich, this all for €316.00 (Euro). If I was to book only the Munich to Atlanta and return Atlanta to Munich flights the price was €368.00...same days, same flight numbers...figure that out ??? My only advice when looking for cheaper airfares, have patience and do lot`s of internet price searching before you book. Good luck and see you in Sebring 2006, LeMans 2006 and as JP suggests a return to LeMans in 2007. |
