Love the sh**tbox Renault, The General...DeGaulle! Especially like the bear pegged to the dash with a knife...very classy.  Clearly this isn't really a French car, it does have toilet paper!

Mr Smoke's, You have far to much time on your hands.

I suppose it better to make a few quid as it costs you for the scrap man to take your car away now.

The Renault 21 diesel is the best. Make sure you look at the questions and answers at the bottom. Still 2 days to go as well, you could grab a bargain and take it to Le Mans!

Title: Re: eBay finds

judging by the smell in that thing afterwards, I would guess the heat scared a badger or a skunk or some other foul animal to climb up the waste pipe, die, and decompose........

Not that the camper smelt rank or anything  :o

Beermountain.com seem to think it belongs to one of theirs - Captaintrousers.

eBay is a b@stard.  I've just spent £120 on some car bits (half list price and the vendor is a main dealer), only to find another main dealer has put 4 sets on eBay at £35, with only one taker.  Still, the spares will come in handy.

Look up cars, BMW on ebay and look for the 2006 BMW 745i, interesting choice of photo.

AQll I can say is, eBay has a lot to answer for.

Last November I bought a 1973 GT6 Mk111 'convertable' much to the wifes chagrin. I 'informed' her about two weeks of collecting it!!
It was my Christmas present to myself!

When I drive it people have commented that I have a permanent smile.  What due you expect with twin stainless straight-thru's.

The purple peril is looking forward to LM this year.

Jerry

PS.  I'd post a pic if I knew how to.

Sorry to ask,

But when did Triumph make a convertable GT6? ???

They did make TR, Vitesse,Spitfire, Bergerac one (+ pre war ones) and the good old HERALD (mines a 13/60 with damaged bootlid)

Title: Re: eBay finds
Post by: Rhino on May 18, 2007, 11:30:41 pm
It's a Spitfire body on a GT6 chassis. Always called a GT6 convertible rather than a Spitfire 6cylinder. Probably because the GT6 is the more valuble car!

Title: Re: eBay finds
Post by: Leftie on May 19, 2007, 02:09:25 am
Rhino,

You are allmost 100% on that.

About 16yrs ago it had a major rebuild and I presume the guy thought that is was gonna be a good summer.

Only things not GT6 are rear deck/boot and obviously the softtop.

You can always tell a car that has had this done by looking at the doors, GT6's had quarterlights.

I'm still having problems posting photos, any ideas?

Jerry

Jerry

You have to host the pics on a web site somewhere.  I use muchos.co.uk and/or photobucket.com.  These are freebie pic-hosting sites and both easy to use.  I prefer the latter as it automatically resizes pics that are too big.  Once uploaded, just click on the '[img]' box under the pic, and paste it into your post.

£2000? :o

Ferry Crossing ---- 2 x GA --- 2 x Tribune --- 1 x Carpark --- 3 nights hotel 50 minutes away room only.

Pay for your own fuel --- Pay for your own food. One of the hotel nights you have paid for will probably be spent at the circuit.

Jesus, I'm in the wrong job. I could sell packages like this to any mug that will pay for it

yeah, surely the cost of all that is about a grand????  Even allowing for the most expensive grandstand and car parking.  Now I'm not against making money, but that is taking the biscuit, mind you when agencies are selling their cheapest grandstand tickets for more than the most expensive one direct from the ACO, it would seam that there are plenty of mug punters out there!

Mind you - the Commodore Class cabins are fabulous!! I was in one once (when travelling with a rather more wealthy "friend"!  ;) ) - most welcome after a week in a sweaty/muddy tent - mind you that was the year that HA sank in the rainstorm.

Doesnt really seem too outrageous all things considered - assuming it really is a nice hotel!

Interesting that the other package (which looks identical) is £200 cheaper as a buy now.

A hotel 50 minutes from the circuit? f**k off! That's got to be at least 40 miles away.

Mind you they do include a route map in the deal and that's nearly swung it for me.

I priced the crossing and although they only have outside cabins left, not commodore, it was just over £500, it would have to be a great hotel to be more than (say) £100 a night that far away from the circuit, so there's a grand say for ferry and hotel, so tickets at £300 being generous, that means there's still £700 profit in a £2000 deal!
Plus if it's a ticket agent then they won't be paying full wack for anything.....

Send me a cheque for £2000 and I'll sort your trip out for you,  hey if I could find someone else to give me £2000 I'll have a free trip for myself....

When I was a lad, you'd just take what yer found in the back lane!

That still happens - you just have to go on a night out in Reading to see :)

Is it really worth $226,000 with 71 bidders, for an empty shell.  You could get a Cobra for that price

Have I missed something

That was cool as.... did it sell? So nice to see old muscle emerge from storage and go to a good home.
I have a copy of Aussie Muscle  Car with a story about an XB Falcon shell found in a dump that was one of the ex Bathurst cars... it got buried...  I want one.. GT. in Purple with white Vinyl roof and white interior, 5.7 V8 with one of the dealer packs offered at the time and a strait thru exhaust.
Heaven ;D

Depends on what you call cheap.  The bid was £99,999 when I looked, and IMHO that is not cheap for a w**k*r looser.
