Title: Viewing Start At Arnage or Mulsanne Corners Post by: jpchenet on January 22, 2006, 02:01:39 pm Has anyone watched the start from the corenrs at Arnage or Mulsanne?
Just wondered about doing something different maybe, and thought seeing the cars come through all grouped together might be interesting? Title: Re: Viewing Start At Arnage or Mulsanne Corners Post by: DelBoy on January 22, 2006, 02:16:27 pm You going to move Lagache up to Arnage then, Mark??
Del Title: Re: Viewing Start At Arnage or Mulsanne Corners Post by: rcutler on January 22, 2006, 06:00:40 pm Tink, Dan and Rob went to Arnage last year mainly as there was plenty of shade from the sun. They rated it very good. I shall see if I can get Tink to post his thoughts up here. He only occasionally logs on.

Del Now there's an idea Del!!! ;D We buy enough Grandstand seats to have one between two people so everyine gets to watch either the start or the finish from the Stand. I had the start last year so I'm guessing I'll miss out this year! It's a toss up at the moment between going down to Arnage, or joining The Tw@ts on the terraces! Title: Re: Viewing Start At Arnage or Mulsanne Corners Post by: knetter on January 22, 2006, 09:29:30 pm If that doesn't work out either, you can join us Mark. We will bring plenty of refreshments in two big roller bins and lots of orange smoke!!! I will watch the finish from the stands.

Unless the fleshpots of Deauville have a stronger pull :o Title: Re: Viewing Start At Arnage or Mulsanne Corners Post by: Rhino on January 22, 2006, 10:31:20 pm Always watch the start from Mulsanne corner. Plenty of space and shade further along from the corner, we sit their and walk up to the corner when you want.
We also meet up with some Dutch guys every year. We camp at BS and cycle, taking the dirt track through the woods to cut out the long road loop they detour you from Arnage the Mulsanne. Good to watch from and you can pop into Arnage on the way back. Although we missed Arnage last year as we weaved back to camp last year, never made the shampoo bar either after a delayed curry due to half our lot riding into a ditch and taking an extra hour and a half to get back. Title: Re: Viewing Start At Arnage or Mulsanne Corners Post by: sceetum on January 22, 2006, 10:47:54 pm We took a cricket set one year and whilst waiting for the race to start, tried to teach some Dutch guys how to play cricket. We had a large audience of bemused French spectators wondering what the hell we were doing ;D.
Mind you, watching Rhino try to explain (in a very drunken way) the rules of cricket to our foreign friends was worth the trip itself!! Always a good atmosphere at mulsanne and a good view of the cars. The cricket pitch isn't up to much though! Lucky for us, the americans turned it in to baseball, easier to understand, just as boring to watch. ;D Title: Re: Viewing Start At Arnage or Mulsanne Corners Post by: rcutler on January 23, 2006, 12:30:40 pm Cricket??? We did what?, can't be!, unless these Dutchies were stoned while inventing it!!! Title: Re: Viewing Start At Arnage or Mulsanne Corners Post by: Andy on January 23, 2006, 05:42:02 pm Toss a coin for either as they have their good view points, I prefer Mulsanne half way or more to Indianapolis, but dont expect a good spot at either after midday. And take plenty to drink, sunstroke aint pleasant.....
Oh the luxury of the stands, cool air, reserved space. what a buzz of thunder as all the cars start!! (Orgasm!) time for another beer! Title: Re: Viewing Start At Arnage or Mulsanne Corners Post by: smokie on January 23, 2006, 11:43:05 pm I was lucky enough to be in the stands for the start last year - gab blagged us a borrow of someones tickets.
Yes it was exciting. Yes it was noisy. I think I stayed awake for at least 5 laps... ;D Title: Re: Viewing Start At Arnage or Mulsanne Corners Post by: Brad Zarse on January 23, 2006, 11:50:45 pm would you mind teaching rhino snr that trick Smokie?
Following our arrival at Karting Nord a couple of years ago he proclaimed "blimey this is close to the track, I don't think we'll get much sleep" 2 laps into the race, I kid you not - out like a Light........ zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Title: Re: Viewing Start At Arnage or Mulsanne Corners Post by: monkey on January 24, 2006, 03:13:10 pm I have watched the start and finish at Mulsanne for the last 6 years and would not recommend it at all. There are hardly any people there, so getting a drink at the bar is too easy, parking is too easy and it is too easy to enjoy a comfortable pre race picnic in the shade of the car park prior to a short walk (slash in the woods on the way) to the corner where you get a tediously uninterrupted view of the race without having to stand up. Take my advice, it’s for old men and wimps like me don't go there. Please. ;)
