As the village is currently a large pile of earth!!!!!
Who is going to lay bets as to where the "NEW" Poo Bar may be in June

I wouldn't panic yet, even the French will have scedules and date targets.
I cannot imagine the circuit hosting a race for 300K+ without proper catering, they'll figure out something.
And the PB will be replaced by something, they know we're thirsty! :P
Maybe Gilles or someone more local can have a peek about a month ahead and tell us all about it :)
-
Whomever the poor saps attending the PQ weekend are should make a photographic report. Oh, that might be me ???
-
FS,
I'm not sure what you can really expect at qualifying, not after looking at those recent earthworks pictures and hearing of UXB's.
I would imagine there'll be a sweeping plain of mud, a permanent drizzle with drifting clouds of mustard gas and cries of "gotten himmell, aaaargh!!".

H, we've all be involved in large scale projects before? Surely the fabric of the new buildings would be in place by PQ's? At least that might tell us a few truths?
What do ya think?

I.........think....we need an aerial photo......and play pin the tail on the Poo Bar!!!!
Has anybody any other ideas????

Have been to the Po bar, many times, unfortunately never met any of you guys and girls as my timing has always been, Er, can we say somewhat unreliable :-\ .
However, should there be no Po bar there this year, i know from this site that one will be created from the dust and magicaly appear from nowhere, judjing from the creativity this club produces, this is surly a minor problem, and one that will be easily resolved.
-
Well my money (and it's not a lot of money!) is on somewhere downhill from the old Village near where the big wheel ended up last year. Maybe even a lot closer to the pits area. Handier for Beausejour after Houx Annexe becomes a football ground car park. Dammit! :(

Like this. Where was it anyway?
-
Somewhere up beyond the top of that pic is where it used to be!
-
I can't see the tunnel, Lorry. The Poo Bar was in front of the tunnel before Dunlop :-\
-
Oh go on Lorry, get back in that aeroplane and take another picture :P
-
Chocks away, contact, ignition
-
That was then, this is now :-\
-
Switching to Infra red. This is the new corporate hospitality area
-
We're a resourceful lot. Whether the ACO have finished cannibalising the circuit or not we'll find somewhere to gather!!
-
just great! ::) ;D (http://dfh.vandijkonline.net/images/smiles/icon_lol.gif)

Ohh Gary... another photo from that website shows the EXACT spot of the old poo bar! In fact, I think that you can still see Paddy's old beerglass tower from 2000 feet!!! :o
Looks odd seeing the place so empty tho!

Wotcher FS,
For what it's worth I think it'll be finished, simply because unlike us, the French don't mess around when it comes to construction projects - and I would bet the contractor penalty clauses are frightening. I mean, they've had years to plan this after all.
As for the poo bar, I'm afraid I cannot see the great ACO vision including building bars for grubby boozy punters (with or without gimp masks) in their new squeaky clean village. I reckon it will be all corporate with a heavy emphasis on marketing and brand awareness. No, I think they'll leave us to our own devices, hoping we'll either use the (limited number of) bars behind the grandstands, or keep out of everyones way and drink/party on the campsites.
Which raises another question...
They now seem to have succeeded in turning the circuit into one where it's not actually possible to have an involving spectating experience watching the cars, and as I speculate above, they have also removed the "Party Atmosphere" element of the event. So who the hell are they targeting as customers?? The Corporate and Agency coachloads I reckon, which would explain why there seems to be so few tickets available to the general fan.
H
PS I hope you're on the mend Peter, and I wish you the speediest of recoveries, after all you'll need a fully functioning immune system in place before you tackle the Merguez...

If I'm not mistaken, this one shows (from foreground) Karting Nord, Maison Blanche and Bleu campsites (with the airfield in the background)

What a shame it wasn't taken race weekend, the DfH banner would have been perfectly visible!
-
I think I should just point out, that the photos from the francefromtheair site, all claim to have been taken in 2004, so they are actually quite old.
Still, they are good pics though, and bring back happy memories :D
-
Looking at these photos, and comparing it to the ACO map, the camping bleu nord site is right next to the runway :o
-
If you have a copy of the Duke 2005 dvd you can see"Paddy's Flags" clearly on the Loeb and Corvette drive round the circuit on the extra's section.

thanks wishywashyman, appreciated, I see you've paid attention ;)

sorry guys, wrong topic - this one is for JPC ::) :-\
-
You can also see the remains of our annual bonfires in Houx Annexe ;D
-
Is that the roundabout (just above the small lake) where we see the boys burn out their clutches every year?
-
just behind the whit marshalls' cabin
I thought that was the refrigerator sculpture! 8)
-
by the looks of it the pikies took it fran ;)

I dont think so Gary. I think that roundybout is on the other side of the fenced off Antares Complex area where Nick and I camped in the car park our first year. Looks as if it is almost on top of the Mulsanne Straight. Any clues here folks am I right or wrong?
And Steve, which picture shows your bonfire and thus our "home"?
???

Gary, now I have finally got me 'ead around the pictures, yes mate, THAT IS the said roundabout...
I thought you were referring to the one on the Antares picture :(
I'll just go and pick up my sack cloth and some of the toxic ashes from Steve's tyre fire...
