This year my son has his GCSE's which finish on the Friday before the race.
With me being completely selfish .....I am going on Tuesday!!!!!!
Can anybody possible offer a space for the trip down on Friday...I am quite happy to contribute for the pleasure of my son's company....and after all it will be his 4th visit to Le Sarthe.........which he really does'nt want to miss as he has become totally hooked....thanks to Dad!!!!
Yours hopefully
-
Wishy, that's selfish !!! Sorry mate, can't help because I'll by coming from Germany. Otherwise you could consider your little problem sorted. I'm sure there're some who are able to step in though.
-
If all else fails, put him on Eurostar, and a cab from the station. Does anyone still go Friday/Saturday?
I used to take my son to school. He was on the bus that week, exams or not.
Sorry. I lost this
-
If I were to put him on eurostar .....I guess he would end up in Monaco and not Le Mans
So it would be safer to have a chaperone for the journey out .....after all he has led a sheltered life........so far!!!!!!!!

Wishy,
My Son is in the same boat, and I don't mean a ferry! He (and I) desperately want to go, but with exams, his racing etc. etc. its near impossible, but I know that I'm going to have to give in and maybe do a flying visit like we did a few years ago, over night Friday, back Sunday night.
Three things occur to me. 1. Roughly whereabouts are you based, for a quick collection/meet en-route., 2. What campsite are you on, and 3. What are the chances of getting another camping pass?
There is a small, and I mean small, chance that I can finally persuade a mate of mine to take his plane, but that really is a long shot!!
If I can help, I'll be delighted.

Hi tmk
We live in north east hampshire if that is not too far out of your way.
We will hopefully be on Maison Blanche.I am on the shortlist for tickets, same as last year.
With campsite passes have a look on here in the "sell or swap" forum.you will usually find some passes available or just put a posting that you are looking for a ticket and you will probably get a reply.

Both Rick C and Dark Warrior have bought my 2 spare MB tickets, but as yet no money arrived. If they mess me about, i'll drop you a line.

Cheers Robbo
I will deffo take you up on the offer,if it arises.
After all if the others appear from the ACO,I can sell them on here

Given the "sheds" reliability of late, will you be using Eurostar yourself!! ::) ;D
-
Send him to Broadchalke instead if all esle fails ;D
Are you at La Sarthe or Gurston this year Burgundy Beast Black Widow?
-
Well he's at Gurston this Sunday. What's the beast like on wet chalk dust?
-
Lorry
It will be interesting to see how the"Black Widow " performs due to the complete rebuild during the closed season.
Ian hasn't had achance to test the new sequential gearbox....so he has a complete learning curve to go through in the 2 practice runs.
BTW the"shed" is now fine and dandy and will make it down on Sunday!!!!

So does this mean a Black respray?
The idea of a sequential Cortina gearbox still makes be giggle, but they do seem popular
-
Lorry
It is not a respray. We went upto the Westfield factory and collected a complete new body in my espace.
Mind you Ian had to sit on the floor all the way back,as I had to turn round the passengers seat ti fit the panels in.
A far as Cortinas are concerned. The box is a Quaife model, and in any case you also driver a Cortina!!!!!
-
The sheds do have their uses.
And my gearbox is real Sierra. Well, it is a road car. I don't know how it takes the punishment. Quaife also manage to get a sixth cog in there. Its a straight swap (but does it have a speedo drive?)
-
Hang on, its not one of the lightweight racing bodies that you can read a newspaper through. Or is it stilll an Aero Kit body

Apparently it was until it was painted, but I'm told that carbonfibre is a bit difficult to paint so you may still be able to read the headlines ;)
BTW good luck Burgundy Beast - sorry, Black Widow. Can't make it this weekend, but will see you on the hills later in the season. Let us know how the revised car performs.

Lorry
What constitutes an Aero body kit?
-
The aero body kit is a front wing thing, more of a full width chin spoiler, two sidepods, and a rear spoiler to go round the bootlid. And it all looks very good in black with gold lining.
A bit slippery today, the shed nearly got another trip to Kingswinford.
-
In that case that is the one Ian has

Are you sure that the bits are made by Westfield and not Mountfield.
A large part of it was seen coming back in an Alfasud. There but for the grace of god.

I will be at Gurston during Le Mans weekend. Rather be doing racin' rather than watchin!! :D
Nerly got a personal best wet time on first run. Once the rain stopped conditions were crap at best, very greasy! :o Car understeering moist of the time, as were most others. Those that weren't, were not trying!! ???
Spoiler repaired, just needs spraying.
At Colerne sprint on BH Monday (as is Mark D.R.). My target, achieve Class record and show up the 2ltr boyz ;D
Anyway while we're talking about Gurston, here's "Widow" in all its glory :)

I've just remembered, someone I know didn't make Gurston >:(. Why? Well' the excuse was they didn't get up until late :o ::) A likely story ;)
-
It's true I overslept.........then looked out of the wondow and thought bo**ox it going to rain .So I thought I would stay at home after being frozen at Castle Coombe the previous weekend......so there!!!!!!
