Hello all,

Please give me any tips that you can I dont want to be the FNG!!
There will be about 14 of us travelling from Stoke on Trent in quite a few Caterams and my mates Westie to the eurotunnel hope to see some of you on the way and if you see a mad bloke screamin in a yellow westie it will be me just laugh and give us a wave
-
Travelling in a Caterham ! Ok tips, Don't forget your toothbrush and a roll of toilet paper as thats about all you will fit in ! LOL.

Hi Shaun - and welcome to CA.
The first thing to say to you is that it may be your first trip, but it won't be your last!!
Surf around the site - especially the 'Help' board, and you will pick up a great deal of info.
Which camp site are you on?

Hi Shaunv156
Welcome. Like me you've missed the good years ;D I really wish I started going in the 70's ;D
You'll have a great time.

Thanks for the replies all and I hope that I can get more than me tooth brush in my mates westie!!
As for the camp site I am not sure as its been booked by the party organiser but its a eurocamp about 60 click or so away as for the site I've found it very informative and have passed it on to all concerned
-
Hi Shaun
60k - that's a bit of a haul from the action - but I suppose you are going in a group that contains someone who has been before.
For future reference, or even for this year, a lot of the action takes place on the campsites around the circuit during the week leading up to the race itself - especially on the Friday. The circuit campsites are, shall we say, a bit rudimentary, but all facilities are there, and for me (and many many others), half the fun is the continual party atmosphere on any of the sites.
Should you want to change, you could probably still get enough tickets for Beausejour site which is, to all intents and pruposes, as good as any other, albeit the furthest away from the village (but a lot closer than 60k!!).
You don't say when you are travelling. And don't forget to join a lot of us at the 'poo bar, 9pm on Sat night.

yeh nick's been for the last 8 years or so and they allways stay at the site and drive to the circuit for the action but as for me well 1st time it's nice and easy to follow if I sorry when I go again!! perhaps I will look at closer and take a few extra days after the race. We are travelling on the tuesday before and making a week of it so 60k away gives us more options for travel/beach ect. thanks for the invite for a sherbert or two I will endevor so make it

Beach ??

Nice idea Euro Camp, they put up tents for you and they are huge, then you just pack your small bag and leave.
Enjoy the roads, food, wine, atmosphere and et al
MB is best, less riff raff

I worked for them for a couple of months as a montager and campsite courier in the Jura region of France - lovely location, but all sorts of problems with the site and the set up .....eventually I ran away from the site hidden in the back of a van!!!!
Got home just in time to turn around and get to Le Mans!!

Well done Shaun.
You have just learned one of the cardinal rules of this site - that threads nearly always get hijacked, and you have to drag them back on target. :D :D :D

It's taken me a while to work this out but I believe IRW has played a subtle thread hijack. So subtle in fact that it took me five hours to notice. I can be slow sometimes ::)

I saw the story of that fellow with dragon on the news.Did he ever finish?
Worthy cause and my hat is off to him.
They reported he was really struggling with the anti-skid surfeces.

Same bloke did the marathon the other year in a diving suit with lead shoes and brass helmet took him a month I think. THis time he thought it would take a week!! :o

Had a quick Google and found this:

The amount they raised for charity is humbling.
Looks like his next fundraiser will be a challenge - driving from Lands End to John O'Groats in a Mini with flat tyres......
