Title: Coolboxes
Post by: nickliv on May 18, 2006, 03:25:10 pm
Would I be right in thinking that I'll be able to pick up an inexpensive coolbox in Carrefour?

Probably 'chill' it with cheap frozen veg and / or ice. (Is there an ice van / man that does the rounds, that isn't TOO expensive?

Cheers

We have bought a three way fridge (ie. 12v, Gas or 230v) for £150. It stated that it cools 28degC below ambient which it seemed to do.

We got the Weaco 40l fridge from www.mobilecoolbox.co.uk (http://www.mobilecoolbox.co.uk) for £150 including delivery.

I would suggest chilling before you head down and if possible have a few blocks of ice in for the journey down to help keep it cold.

Rick I've got last years model of this fridge and it's great.  There is no need to chill it on the way down though, it will work fine plugged in or powered on gas once you get to France.  It's so big that we find it easier to fill it up with other stuff and then power it on when we get there.

We always pick up a new "cheap" cool box & take it to the fish counter for some free fresh ice from the industrial ice making machine. It keeps us going until the weekend ;D

I can stronly recommend those 12V/230V boxes.
Bought one for 40€ at a german discounter.
It's get's very cool inside, doesn't eat much of your genny power and can be plugged in during your ride to the track
Mine has 30 litres volume and is high enough for 2 litre bottles. Nice to know, "0,5 bombs" fit as well then ;D
