Seems a silly question - I know. I wouldn't ask except for the fact that people I know were stopped from entering Road Atlanta for this reason.
Friends of ours are arriving at LM on Saturday afternoon and will be on foot. They need to know if it will be a problem entering the circuit with a few cases of beer under their arms.
I'd hate for them to have to stand at the gate and drink it all without my assistance. ;D

I think they are more likely to get searched if they didn't have beer... :D
I am sure it will not be a problem. This is France, remember?? ::)
-
The only time we've had problems is when trying to openly carry packs of beer in (although this does depend on the person on the gate). Coolbox/bags full of beer seem to be okay.

Carried in Beer and Champagne in cold boxes for the last 3 years no questions asked.

The problem is that they will have no cool boxes - grocery bags at the very best.
-
Biggest problem if carrying it on foot is more likely to be the ability to carry sufficient ;)
-
I'd envisage a few problems for guys armed with crates of the stuff. They don't really want our sort there remember - we're not corporate. They want us to spend all our mickey mouse money on their in-circuit refreshments. Anyway give me a ring if they get stopped and I'll rally the troops for mass drink off ;)

You could always diffuse any uncomfortable gate situation by taking the beer in already inside you
-
I think there is a "No taking in Alchohol" rule but I've never heard of them enforceing it.

the only problem ive experienced with beer confuscation was when we went to watch the free jamiraquai gig a few years ago, so we ended up downing about 4 or 5 bottles each :-X

Interesting point made here, as there may be a no alcohol thing on the back of the tickets?? (there usually is for these things)
Every year we carry at least a couple of crates (the Kronenbourg's have an easy carry handle I seem to remember...) with us to drink trackside, we've never had anyone so much as question us.
Last year we actually took a small trolley stacked up as well & wheeled it past "ticket inspectors" Thurs/Sat & Sun through different gates with no problems. ;D
Though if you're staying on MB isn't this a moot point as you're already inside the circuit?? ???

The only problem I have had was when the strap on my back pack snapped cos it had to much beer in. Nightmare.

If there are problems they can be resolved by offering the tickets inspector one of two of the said beers!

I hear sometimes that very same trick helps lower the approximation of your taxable income.. ::)
-
If you are camped on Maison Blanche or Mussee then you are inside the circuit permenantly so the booze is already there with you.
Last year on Sunday morning 2 of us walked into the Tetre Rouge entrance with a crate of beer each and no-one bothered.

There can be problems taking glass bottles onto the circuit (although the ACO are happy to sell poo in them) but cans are fine. I agree with the above, put stuff in a bag and I haven't been challenged.

Quite probably!!!

We've never been stopped and we have a wheelie bin full of the stuff with us.

that's gone and dunit now!

We brought more then 25 keggs and dozens of crates(empty crates tough but not a problem, where for the pool) in by lorry this year. No problem at all. And we took a trolley from MB to the grandstand for the start and that was filled with cans. Not problem either. So I wouldn't worrie to much about it.
