I hope SB will not concider this as spam, but Sander from PlanetLeMans pointed me to this site (click!) (http://www.speedchills.com/lms2006.htm) for tickets and accomodation.
It looks interesting enough to me. If all agree then let's go there. I will phone them tomorrow to see how many spaces are available, and what the discount is with 25+ ;D
This reply is just to confirm I never went camping at Donington before. If anybody has any better ideas, please feel free to make other suggestions, like Doris and Fran do.
I can bring stuff like heeps of beer and a small genny, but my campervan hasn't got the same size as last week's lorry :-\
However, I guess I could bring the large Gazebo, just in case it's the same weather as S'stone last year >:(
I got fridges gennys bbqs and should have no probs getting them there. Maybe one of our friendly moderators will get a stcky going for all this stuff
We can't take: Generators. :(I have a 1000Watts 12-220 Volts converter, and the above doesn't say we can't have the engine of a campervan running ;D
I can't commit 100% yet as still waiting to hear when the family holiday will beI know what you mean, there's only four days between returning from my family holiday and going to Donington :-\
Hi Neil from Speed Chills here.
Can someone contact via email (to swap phone numbers etc.) about Donington as there are some changes occuring that will suit everyone i.e. sort your own tickets, flexible camping etc.
We're talking with Creation about changing the event somewhat but I can explain!
I also pm'd my phone number... but as he asked for someone to email him I have probably demonstrated that I am not a very suitable liaison officer. :-\
Now be fair - I have only recently woken up on the sofa.... :-\
At least I was trying to be public spirited ;D
Right guys n gals - I have just been speaking with Neill of Speedchills - so this is the current situation:
First of all the information on the Speedchills website is going to be changed as soon as they have got themselves sorted out between returning from LM and going back out to the Classic. So watch that space.
In effect Neill says that they are proposing to break down the package completely so that we can get our own race tickets, organise our own camping direct at the Donington Farm site and Speedchills offers the membership/hospitality/bar for £20. I asked about beer prices and he said they are the standard price, not marked up and its proper quality chilled beer "not Fosters".
They also have their sponsorship deal with the Creation team and he mentioned the possibility of membership people being able to visit garages and drivers coming over to the hospitality area for chit chat.
This membership fee will include a donation to charity (I didn't try and get him to commit it to Doris' fund, but we could always work on that!).
I asked Neill if he knew how far it would be from the Donington Park Farmhouse campsite to the free circuit campsite and he said that the organisers had various areas used for camping depending on the event and he would try and find out for us where the free camping that weekend would be in relation to Speedchills hospitality area.
The website for the camping is "www.parkfarmhouse.co.uk", click on "Accommodation" then "Caravan Site" - this lists all the camping prices. It is individually priced for tents, camper-vans, electric, etc. so depending on what you bring you can work out the price! Note gazebos are charged extra!
This campsite is open Sunday night.
Anyway, that about sums it up! More info to follow next week.
Fran
can we have just ONE person speaking directly to Speedchills
This is good news concerning the camping.
I still have to arrange parts of the logistics with Kruse Motorsport. I need them to carry some of my stuff over to the UK, shouldn't be too much trouble. Then it's only flying over to the UK and getting to the circuit by rental. Easy... ;D
I have no idea yet how much space I can fill in the truck but in case anyone wants something carried over from Germany please let me know and I try to sort it.
Now we have it... chaos, panic and disorder... ;D

Which one am I in charge of? ???
If I can make it to Donnington then I will have my motorhome with fridge, a small generator as well as two Gas Cadac BBQ's (if Needed) aswell as a 40litre 3-way coolbox.
Obviously if I am in the motorhome then I have to get the van onsite.
I live close to Mark (JPC) if any of the kit will need transporting up there.

I can't drive it!! It is over 3.5 tonne the new drivers limit.
If I can persuade Dad then I can assure you it will be there.
At the moment I am trying to persuade Dad to go to Florida next March! ;D I will have to be careful what I can get away with!
You can be any age above 18.
In 1997 the law changed on driving licenses, basically when you pass your car test, you are authorised to drive any vehicle upto 3.5 tonne.
If I wish to drive any vehicle above 3.5 tonne then I will need to pass my LGV license = Very Expensive
Anyone who passed before 1997 can drive any vehicle upto 7.5 tonne that is classified as road legal. Ie. no longer than 46 foot or 100 inches wide.
Dads van weights in at 7.5 tonne! mine at 3.5 tonne! both right on the limit.

No problem!! I'm sure your dad will be happy to hand the keys over to me!! :)
I could lend him "The Beast" in case he needs transport during the weekend!
Anyone know what time the race starts on Sunday (assuming it is Sunday), the Donnington site is brief to the extreme!
What's happening with this now - any decisions on what/where CA will be camping??I spoke to Neil on Saturday (after he spoke to Fran first), and he said he was going to recalculate as it all seem too expensive and some people already bought tickets.
I'd check with the campsite if they allow Gazebos - many "normal" campsites now ban them
Del
Can you book me 1 caravan & car with hookup & 2x tent & 2x car please
Thanks
Neal
PS Let me know as soon as you need any cash
2 nights for me Sat/Sun I don't fancy the delights of the M1 or M40 after work on Friday, but be prepared for a wake up call sparrow fart on Saturday.
I don't need electric hook up, I can maybe plug a fridge in with someone who has. Does this mean that those that do need it and those that don't will be seperate?
I will send money as soon as you need it Del

Its not cheap compared to free tho is it!
Hi Guys,
Rowena, my sister and I will definately be at Donington but we're not sure about if we're camping or not as Rowena doesn't live to far away. Does anyone know if the campsite is full/will sell out prior to the event or if it will be possible to leave 'til the last minute to book up... Any ideas on the cost for one night/one tent (Saturday)?
Cheers, Vicky
but has no facilities, apart from the grass
I was told by Donington that it will definitely have toilets/water but not much else!

That's less than 3 MB tickets Paddy.3 pitches, all paid for now :-\
How many pitches did you book?
Del
Looking back over the original list of people who expressed an interest, it is Doris and Rick who need to extract their respective digits.
Del
I've booked.
They said they were going to be very busy that weekend, with several 'clubs' all trying to be kept together.
So get your booking in today if you want a pitch.

All done. Thanks Del and Pete. Not allowed on site until 10:00 on Saturday morning so just a reminder boys, I like my bacon crispy.
A not so subtle hint there Peter ::) consider yourself invited.
Would have been sparrow fart but the nice lady I spoke to said no-one new on site befoe 10am. I expect she'll be wanting to freshly mow my pitch for me. ;DAll done. Thanks Del and Pete. Not allowed on site until 10:00 on Saturday morning so just a reminder boys, I like my bacon crispy.

Is that the time you call 'Sparrow Fart'?? Even I, as a retired man of leisure, get up earlier than that!
Anyway, your brekky will probably be at my place as Peter is cooking and chilling there - I hereby formally invite you.

I've been doing that all week. Very disappointing when you finally work out it's a school day after all. :(
How are they booking pitches? i.e........is??
One Car and Two Tents = Two Pitches - YES
BTW, can't see anything about Smokie attending?? I thought he was going to every race under the stars this year??
Hmm, I have reserved space for one 'normal' tent, one 'frame' tent and one motorhome-7.

It is charged per tent plus number of adults for each night with 1 car per tent included - if you see what i mean!

No probs JPC, we can probably squeeze you in somewhere if needed. There are some DfH-members which have fond memories of sharing large bedrooms with you (Spa) (http://forum.drinkingforholland.com/images/smiles/icon_lol.gif)

That's always been my beef with a lot of UK campsites - charge for every separate thing even though you only occupy the same piece of real estate.
In comparison, stayed at a lovely site in Beaumont sur Sarthe (just N of LM)tues night. OK, only me, the car and 'van, but for €6.35 for the night including electricity it was a steal. The block sanitaire was one of the best I have evercome acrossencountered.
Worth remembering this site if you ever need need one close to LM eg if you travel down Sunday and can't get onto the circuit sites.
Del
I think you should get back to basics, never mind all this campervan/caravan business, you'll feel better for it.
H
Anyone fancy showing off their knowledge? (Apparently current top score is 27.5 out of 50 – we must be able to top that - shame we couldnt bring fax over as a "ringer"!)
I'm off out for my first decent pint (or three) for a week.Three pints? We consume that before we even consider which pub to go! ;D
Del
I know the one you mean stayed there many a time, River runs alongside if I remember rightly? The American Motorhome can't make it round the entrance gate we found out a couple of years ago.
Great site though I agree.
if you want to win the quiz, might be a good idea to fly Fax over for the weekend. The only thing this guy doesnt know is God's middle name!!

Ticket arrived today.
For Paddy's (and the rest of DfH) interest, the only car showing on the ticket is the RfH Dome.

But honestly, we are on that car too Del, next to the petrol cap ;)

Anyone know what leet means under my posts?

2 points Peter.
Do we really want Indian 2 nights on the trot (no pun intended)
Who will be sober enough to fetch it
I understood that Riert would make a large bowl of spagetti (or something) for the Friday night. It would be a matter of simply heating it up, add grouted cheese and French bread. I'll double check with him and come back. Need to know how many people would be interested in that. He does have to spend money on making it, but that can never be much pp :)bob, there is a very good indian restaurant in the next village, they do take aways but the retaurant is very good. FS

bob, I understood your curry was in fact a Chilli? which would make it Mexican.
the Indian restaurant provides TRANSPORT if we can get 8 people, easy task i would of thought. especially as the campsite will be empty and nothing to do except for us CA direhards.

About Donington: the extended weather forecast says dry and sunny! ;D
Can anyone direct me to the full programme as the Donington Park web site has nowt on it?

Do us a favour and save us a space for two cars and three tents and a gazebo will you in the Platinum Triangle!Think you'd be better off visiting the people themselves on www.parkfarmhouse.co.uk
Gentlemen
Just returned from a couple of months sabbatical from the site to get over my last minute pull out from this years LM and I notice that everyone's still here!!!!!!
Got our tickets for the Donington event but we are camping at the Donington Park Farmhouse hotel just opposite the competitors entrance. arriving sat am and leaving sunday after the main event.
we'll look out for you lot on the circuit.
Can anyone direct me to the full programme as the Donington Park web site has nowt on it?

I think you'll find its all be sorted amongst ourselves Mark
From memory, the gathering includes:What we're looking at is Sunday night. DfH will be with at least 7 people (a few of the other 4 might "miss" their plane because of unsuitable departure time - 45 minutes after the race - and hitch a ride with the camper van the following morning).

So we are probably talking of 25 people minimum, and if the weather is inclement, they will not all fit comfortably under one 6x3 gazebo.Definitely. I will bring a few light tubes, so we'll have plenty of light. One of our guys will bring a small Ghetto Blaster for supporting entertainment at night time.
I suggest that Mark also brings one to save Paddy lugging his over the water.I have enough space to bring it, thanx. But like I said, might be wise to bring at least one more - if not needed it can stay in the boot.
Can people give me more accurate numbers so that decisions can be made for the 'communal' facilities. The PlanetLeMans-guys will be 4 strong, including Stranger. They will fly in on Friday morning, and leave Sunday night.
PaddyWill bring my crate with extentions, should be long enough to get me 'round the circuit at least once ;)
What about extension leads for power.
I will have electric hook-up for the 'van which has got some UK and some European sockets??
so is that it? two gazebo's and maybe one extra, kept in a car boot?So are you bringing yours? How big is it? (looked pretty large in the picture)

I believe those three Gazeboz should be large enough to keep 20 people dry, if it rains that is.... :)
My plan would be to drive up straight from Work on Friday then probably leave Sunday after the race. Or I might do the family bit at home Friday and head up early on Saturday morning and leave early Monday morning.
Spoke to Rick C. this evening and he mentioned that most people were going to join Speed Chills and use their facilities Saturday night?
Is anyone doing a mass meal that we're all chipping in towards (i.e. is Bob doing his famous Curry or is anyone taking care of breakfasts) or is everyone doing their own thing?
I know it's probably been mentioned elsewhere but I can't be bothered to sift through 18 pages when someone will know straight away ;)

the site warden, Janet, will make sure we are as close together as possible.

Piglet & Keith are at (I think) Brands

If you're stuck for power I've got three 25 metre hook up cables with a RCD on the end which as long as someone (Del?) could collect you can borrow.

Let's hope that Janet knows what she's let herself in for by putting us all together

it will also be in some northern dialect as well

I must admit to be slightly worried, no probs with the normal MB gang as they can always be relied on being the souls of discretion and conduct themselves in a civilised manner. The HA element, are always such a enormous gaping chasm of an unknown ;)
I'm down to just one now - Mrs D slipped on some wet tiles and has cracked two bones in her foot (I'll have to hide that whisky bottle in future).
All that means I'll be there a bit earlier as I won't have the speed limiter in the car, and I'll have to do my own cooking, unless..................

absolutely and a Canberra as well plus few others, sometimes the aircraft are open and you are allowed into the cockpits, the Vulcan is very cramped, especially the AEOp/Nav area, all facing rearwards and NO ejector seats.

Sorry guys, I'm not going to be at Donny, sometimes there are things more important to me than rain-soaked motorsport; yes, that's right, rain-soaked cricket! Anyway, I've been given a ticket for the C&G Final at Lords on sunday, fifty overs of Sussex v Lancs madness. Chris Adams, the Sussex captain, lives in our village and I had a few words with him on sunday when I bumped into him and obviously I took the opportunity to put him straight on a few things. It's strange how someone can become a top international sportsman when their eyes roll about like this all the time - ::) Anyway, we can't lose!
Have a great time one and all.

Yes, I will also be, sadly, elsewhere. Or more exactly, at "Casa de Mí", fitting architrave, skirting board, 2 x bathroom sanitaryware and doing a spot of painting and decorating.
The long house mods are now (hopefully) coming to a close, albeit delayed waiting for the plasterer to skim the walls - you try getting a skilled plasterer when you want one.
Carpets are coming in 2 weeks, then we can move in.
Have a beveraged time at Donnington, at least I'll be in the dry!

Andy - after your contributions to the JV Thread and now this throw away comment I am interested to know whether anybody, no matter how succesful they are in their chosen field, actaully commands your full respect and if so who and why?
You obviously have very high standards and I wonder who, if anybody, meets them..?
Not sure if Paddy and the others can remember tho......cos the amount of Tropicama they consumed up at Redgate was awesome.....just ask Dark Warrior.....he was comatosed most of the race!!!!

thanks all for a great weekend, defenitely worth the journey!

Nice to meet everyone, suffering slightly from sunburn - didn't think we'd need anything other than waterproofs last weekend!
Thanks for the beers Paddy 8)
I have the worst case of 'ski face' ever :D
Part timer, are you by any chance related to Senna? I know things must have been tough in the Boer war what with the malaria and those biscuits with all worms in and that, but do you have to be quite so narky just because you think Senna was a God and I see him for what I believe he was; a knob. That was obviously just a throw away remark. ;)Quote
Sorry Andy the Boer war reference past me by. I don't think Senna was a god and no I am not related to him. The question about who comands your respect was actually a serious one. You obviously have very high standards and I wonder who, if anybody, meets them..?
It's a difficult one this Oldy, I'm not really sure if you've got a nice line in ultra-dry humour or you just don't get it.

Now that's a good question, Oldtimer.
I know he has a very good friend who (after lengthy training) is able to masturbate at 15 minute intervals for 24 hours, - he once once cranked a couple out in the Tadge Mahal. I don't really know if Andy holds him in high esteem or not, but he impresses the hell out of me. In my professional capacity I have come across many people who have tried, unwittingly, to emulate this feat, and have fallen well short. The toll it takes on the bodies mineral and vital resources is tremendous, and frankly this is why people like Ranulph Ffeines and Bob Foss stick to things like walking to the South Pole and running seven marathons in a week, - they're just not up for it. I have copied below an extract from a published article of a learned friend of mine, and believe me, he's not kidding.
The large expenditure of semen has exhausted his vital force, as a result he has become a walking wreck.
The frame is stunted and weak, the muscles underdeveloped, the eye is sunken and heavy, the complexion is sallow, pasty or covered with spots of acne, the hands are damp and cold, and the skin is moist. The boy shuns the society of others, creeps about alone, joins with repugnance in the amusements of his schoolfellows. He cannot look anyone in the face, and becomes careless in dress and uncleanly in person. His intellect has become sluggish and enfeebled, and if his evil habits are persisted in, he may end in becoming a drivelling idiot or peevish valtudinarian. So, impressive this feat is to you and me, it may not cut the mustard for Mr Zarse.
Failing that, I have seen him look more than once at Rick Cutler And His Amazing Lycra Clad Buns.....
H
I have the worst case of 'ski face' ever :D
I wish I did, my eyes are sore from squinting in the sun all day! That'll teach me - never leave home without my shades....... 8)
Was that the first time or the second Fran?
Glad I wasn't the only person suffering with this Rich. Thankfully it has died down now so I'm more 'healthy brown' as opposed to 'crispy red'.
I've quarantined myself at home until I stop scaring small children and animals. :)
Bob, have you been outed yet ;)
Bob, have you been outed yet ;)It's not set in stone yet. I have to table the motion at a planning meeting, but then, the bunch of repribates that are "Pantyspider Tours" don't usually give a toss where they go as long as someone (me) organises it for them
Bob, have you been outed yet ;)
I have informed the appropriate authority of the situation... 8)

You do realise MB is terrible "hanky-up-cuff" and la-dee-da, a sort of Frinton-on-Sea in Le Mans.
Andy, I suggest you tell him to insert it in the tail pipe of his VW .... diesel particulates, soot and all. ::)
Camp, if you want camp, I suggest you try here -
