Title: GP Masters 12th & 13th August
Post by: Big_M on August 11, 2006, 05:30:19 pm
Anyone going to Silverstone to watch this on Saturday/Sunday.

We will be there both days as we are involved in the TVR Car Club stuff as there should be over 100 TVRs parked up behind Luffield.  Look out for my OH driving Eric Van de Poele round the track in the driver's parade - lucky begger.

Hi Big M small Organ... ;D ;D

What happened at the masters - can't find results anywhere.  I heard NM was back of the grid due to a blown engine - did he push his way thru the field??

I understand one of the funniest sights this weekend at Snetterton was Mansell's two boys rolling around in fits of laughter as they watched thier dad spin of the track at Silverstone ;D

Nigel Mansell only did about 2 or 3 laps and spun several times including on the warm up lap.  They seemed to have a problem with the geometry - he was not impressed.  But I heard later that there was a problem with the diff.

It was a really excellent race - only shown on Sky, which is not much use for us who are only on normal TV.  Eddie Cheever won with Eric Van de Poele in second place.  There was a lot of overtaking and IMHO Eric should have won the race but was held up by a back marker allowing Cheever to take first place.  Although I am biased as my Other Half had Eric in his TVR for the driver's parade.  There are some pictures on my web site http://www.debmorgan.co.uk/Assets/GPMasters/index.html

Interestingly enough - the five winners of this race had all competed in F1 but had never won a race.  All the GP masters cars are the same.  Sorta indicates how much money plays a part in the F1.

Would love to be able to see the next round in South Africa.  But next year's UK race will definitely be on my calendar.
