Title: Le Mans 2007 Preparations Post by: Ferrari Spider on October 09, 2006, 11:56:47 am Well, it's started, or is it that it never stops ;) Ferries are being booked, provisional dates posted, and we are now waiting to see what our Chums in La Sarthe will be allocating our way.
Some of our American cousins in this photograph have begun practicing their swimming pool construction techniques, ready for their visit to Houx Annexe. With a little more rain, it'll soon be full to the top. At least it will keep the dust down;) Title: Re: Le Mans 2007 Preparations Post by: Bob U on October 09, 2006, 12:26:58 pm It is a fact that HAers have to practise so as to do something different and unique every year.
Unlike MB campers whom, I believe, do it by the book every year. Not very something different and unique here, Bob ;) ;D Title: Re: Le Mans 2007 Preparations Post by: Perdu on October 09, 2006, 02:48:56 pm Did anyone think to check the tap thread sizes this year?
(Or can someone living nearby whip round with a passing plumber so we can get the proper size tap-adapters) Gonna take a very long time at 2 litres per push! :( Title: Re: Le Mans 2007 Preparations Post by: Lorry on October 09, 2006, 04:34:29 pm I thought we had the answer to this last year. I recall its British pipe thread but bigger than normal
Title: Re: Le Mans 2007 Preparations Post by: Bob U on October 09, 2006, 04:44:17 pm The taps on the standpipes near us were new this year had no thread on them for fixing hose pipes. The end of the tap was smooth and tapered so a jubilee clip would not hold.
Apart from this, the top of the tap had to be pushed down and then released to start the water flowing, after a couple of litres the flow stopped and the top had to be pushed again. Not very user friendly if you wanted to fill a pool. Title: Re: Le Mans 2007 Preparations Post by: SmithA on October 09, 2006, 05:02:45 pm Could you not take one of those self cutting tap things used for washing machines etc (you can see that i am well up on DIY) put that on there then you would not have to worry about their tap
Andy Title: Re: Le Mans 2007 Preparations Post by: Snoring Rhino on October 09, 2006, 05:10:46 pm The Taps on MB were threaded (I think they are the largest thread on a hozelock snap connect) and took multiple distribution blocks( OK untill the first guy went home mid sunday taking his 50p addaptor with him ::)).
I'm supprised that the resourses of Houx were beaten by a push down tap, sounds like a Gaffer tape job ;D Title: Re: Le Mans 2007 Preparations Post by: Fran on October 09, 2006, 05:15:32 pm untill the first guy went home mid sunday taking his 50p addaptor with him are you talking about our own dear Smokie ??!!! ::) Title: Re: Le Mans 2007 Preparations Post by: smokie on October 09, 2006, 05:21:05 pm Me? I don't think so! I am not organised enough to take adapters...
In 2005 they were setting out a new camping field near the Porsche curves and the standpipes were in place. They had screw on fittings, still screwed on. So I took one of them... :o They are 1/2 inch fittings IIRC. I will search it out and report back. btw just tried booking Speedferries for the main event and they aren't yet taking bookings for June 07 as they are getting a second boat. Title: Re: Le Mans 2007 Preparations Post by: Fran on October 09, 2006, 05:29:32 pm btw just tried booking Speedferries for the main event and they aren't yet taking bookings for June 07 Ahh - I wondered about that cos I tried looking at Speed Ferries prices the other day and couldnt get it to give me a quote for June. Beginning to think about giving LM a miss this year - but I always think that at some stage every year!! ;D F Title: Re: Le Mans 2007 Preparations Post by: smokie on October 09, 2006, 05:44:52 pm Beginning to think about giving LM a miss this year - but I always think that at some stage every year!! ;D F Yeah, I've been through decisoin that already this year. I was also quite keen to do the Mardi Gras in NO instead of Sebring but I've been persuaded that Sebring 2007 will be the mutts nutts... Taken from Sebring thread Re: Seb*ing 2007 « Reply #43 on: Today at 05:40:43 PM » Reply with quote I've just made a booking for George and me at Key West for our post-race R&R. The whole place is a bit pink for my liking, and the Pink Room was the only one in our price range. We won't be sharing the one and only bed! One of the places we found had an outdoor jacuzzi which seats 24. Sounded very attractive, I read that it is a Male Only place, and clothing is optional. Come on Smokes is this time for an OUT?? ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D (please note this is intended as humour and no way defacates on the persona of Mr Smokie) >Martini... Ferries being booked. Trailer chassi parts on order- I'll be legal this year..... Shirts arranged, banner already done, hosepipe secured for a little more than nowt..... Just to source a fitter scooter. Not so much of a case of bad planning, more like a touch of complacency, which, after the amout of years without a problem is only to be expected. Rest assured, next year we will have running water on demand. Title: Re: Le Mans 2007 Preparations Post by: Ferrari Spider on October 10, 2006, 03:15:48 pm I think some of the forum have been considering flying to LM, maybe consider this airline, especially for all t'N'thern types ;)

Title: Re: Le Mans 2007 Preparations Post by: Bob U on October 10, 2006, 04:24:41 pm We are probably better off going Pompey - Caan because it dosn't look like we will get back into the country via Dover.
Title: Re: Le Mans 2007 Preparations Post by: Ferrari Spider on October 10, 2006, 04:36:25 pm Just a thought ;) How would you like to be PAID to go to LM? Seems impossible but true. New legislation being brought forward by Nu Labour pays out 2,500GBP bounty plus travel costs to all illegal immigrants that are currently in the slammer. Get arrested as a foreign national without the necessary paperwork and you too could be having a free trip to LM next year. The tough part is the paperwork as for a few bob passed to the right quarter has this sorted. ;) Saw this being discussed last night on the telly and it also seems possible to have as many goes as you like.
Hope i haven't offended any of our luvvies ??? Title: Re: Le Mans 2007 Preparations Post by: Nordic on October 10, 2006, 07:03:06 pm Preparations are well under way, Tickets sorted ferry/train options being discussed, tent and other camping gear stowed away, safe from mice/squirrels etc.
Only thing left is to weigh up hotel options for Sunday night and decide who is driving! There was a small amount of desent in the ranks, one person thought Masion Blanche campsite may be better for a change, however a quick search around this site pointed out the error of his ways, and its the hallowed grit of the Annexe for us again! Did you think I meant the thread on the end of the tap? There aren't any on HA anymore they have the cunning button that Bob describes. No I want to know the thread size that allows the tap to go onto the standpipe, obvious innit? Undo their tap, get a bit wet, (dry again in minutes) screw on our tap then fill receptacle (No I dunno how to spell pool) then whip off ours get wet again and then screw t heirs back on. Bob's your U! Only drawback, the thread size is bigger than any taps I have lying around. Title: Re: Le Mans 2007 Preparations Post by: Lorry on October 10, 2006, 11:15:47 pm Peter, some poor souls are beyond redemption, no matter how hard we try. Where is father Martin when you need him. His soul is so pure, and he never has an evil thought about anything. The Abbot sent him on a mission every year to experience the evil side of man at first hand in MB and to try to convert some of the poor sinners. We ran that one for about 3 years and people believed it, sometimes. He did look like a monk.Title: Re: Le Mans 2007 Preparations Post by: Steve Pyro on October 10, 2006, 11:22:10 pm Peter, some poor souls are beyond redemption, no matter how hard we try.
