Please only vote if you actually intend to come.
-
Rob, can you put on option on for anyone who can make any date
-
I'm happy with any of the above.
-
Done and I've reset the vote. Sorry to make you vote again but this is a very important issue ;D
-
So what happens if "any date" wins the poll by a country mile? Which date do we go for then?
-
I can't do the 8th, so 1st or 15th will do. I have voted accordingly.
-
We go with the individual date that has the highest vote. The any date allows people to indicate availability without necessarily prejudicing the vote towards a certain date. For example in the previous poll I voted for 8th (because you said it and I always do everything you say) but in reality I can make any date.
-
any date would suit me better than 1st, 8th or 15th ;)

All of them :P

I put down any date, which is true, but actually I'd mainly go for the 15th. There's a terrific 12 piece R&B/hardfunk/soul band playing at Dover St Wine Bar at 9.30pm and I'll be going along to that later if anyone cares to get up offa that thang with the hardest-hitting horn section in Town. Jump back!

Eh, that sounds pretty good. I'd be up for that. Get down!
-
I'm up for Dover Street. It's the bollocks. Need to get names on the door as you don't need to be queueing.

Please be aware that Dover St has a strict NO JEANS AND TRANIERS door policy.

Probably, if you want to be chatted up by Stephen Fry or one of his schoolmates. ;)

Didn't you leave early last year to go to a "concert"? I'm not overly keen on that sort of thing especially if it's rammed with no room at the bar. However if they have a liberal attitude to herbal cigars it may be different 8) Nice.
-
I shall investigate the likelyhood of my being in a position to shake my money maker on that particular evening.
And please consider my funky stuff already strutted.

Yup, you might remember I was with my mate Byron from Newcastle and trust me he would not go to a concert where drink was not freely available. I went to see Page and Plant with him some years ago. I wasn't allowed just to sit and watch Page and Plant with him around, no, I had to sit and watch Page and Plant and drink ten pints too. Don't know the official door policy on herby schmokes in Dover St, but I imagine it's the sort of place where you'd probably be better off knocking a line out on the top of the toilet cistern. :o

A litle taster here for those who are interested.

Incidentally the keyboard player is from Thailand, he's blind and used to attend the same church as The Gimp. Make it funky.

Rollox!!! I can't make the 15th, company Xmas party!
Purely from a selfish point of view as I can't make the 15th, be aware that the closer we get to Xmas the busier the bars and clubs will be!!

There can also be huge queues after that time as well but you do eventually get in. Easiest way is to book a table for grub, straight in y'see' and the ribs'n'all aint half bad.
I've been there the last 2 years running for our local boozers christmas outing, and it's been a top shout. Last year Johnny Bond met a very tasty piece that is to about to become Mrs. Johnny Bond next April. ( twat )

Good info there from the ferric-oxidised one, I suggest we get some numbers together and get a booking in pronto. Lets say Argyle Arms from 3pm onwards, off to Dover St at 7 then drink til late, home even later. Who's in?

I'M IN.

b;ah bla blah ba ...ba b. huh?

I'm in
-
Put me on the VIP guest list.
-
So I take it then that it will be the 15th? I will attend then :o.
I will meet you all in the Argyll Arms about 5ish then off to DoverSt after. Might have to head home at 2130 or alternatively head to Fabric for some night long clubbing! ;D (Depends who is playing that night though. Tim Westwood is not really what I enjoy listening to!)

What, in God's name, is going on here?
Andrew very sensibly suggested a Christmas piss-up in a manky pub somewhere in London but this has now been horribly mutated into a sophisticated dining extravaganza in a trendy London jazz bar no doubt with compulsory lounge suits to be worn.
Are a large group of pissed, hairy CA'ers exactly who Dover St are hoping to entice to their establishment?
That said, I do quite fancy a Terrine of Foie Gras and Langoustines followed by Prime Fillet Rossini all washed down with a nice Sancerre so I can't rule it out.
The wife, who has until this morning been mounting round the clock Rotterdam protests, has now said I can't go to London as I'm going to Rotterdam (that's news to me love considering you've been telling me I can't go to Rotterdam for three weeks) and so I have agreed that I will either go to Rotterdam or London. May seem like an easy choice but it's a logistical nightmare to get to Rotterdam. Although most of the London protaganists will also be in the Dam (Rusty - any news on Brethren attendance?) and it saves me having to listen to funk/soul/whatever the other bit was.
Any advice?
-
Absolutly I've got advise, Get your ass to Rotterdam!
-
Change your wife? :)

Change your wife? :)
Thats a bit drastic even for a CA booze up! :o

Only kidding! However, some of these guys do not seem to be married to fellow petrolheads. Essential in my book for avoiding arguments of the kind discribed above.
-
Believe me I have considered it. Although not if you're reading this darling honey pie
-
darling honey pie
That's not my pet name for her by the way. There are limits!!!
-
I will never understand (most) women - present company and Doris of course, excepted. Why is there a limit to the amount of time a man can have away with the boys? And why do they resent every minute you don't spend with them when all they do is sit on the sofa in fluffy slippers and a baggy tee shirt painting their nails and working out how to make your life that little bit more miserable. I mean, do they want us to be happy or not? :( ???
Oh and contrary to popular belief, men can multi-task. I can surf the net, watch motor racing, fart, drink beer and smoke all at the same time. All women can do is piss AND moan at the same time, usually about the above. GRRR! >:(
-
You obviouly look for them in the wrong places Andy. Most of the married women I know can't wait for their old men to go out so they can have a bit of peace! And looking at the guys who used to prop up the bar in my local (probably still do) back in blighty, it's no wonder really. Wouldn't dream of letting Mr Termite attend a piss up on his own - he'd better effin' well take me or there will be consequences. However, this should not prevent me from attending them on my own if I wish. Sounds fair, no?
-
Any advice?
Well Rotterdam will have go-karts, a meal in a ribs restaurant and a 'drink 'till you drop' session afterwards. If JPC goes by car, it shouldn't be a 'logistic nightmare'.
London might be far less expensive, unless you take a minicab back to Boremouth :-\
-
men can multi-task. I can surf the net, watch motor racing, fart, drink beer and smoke all at the same time.
Oh and by the way, Mr Z, this does not count as multi-tasking, it's just a natural ability available to all isn't it? Try replacing "motor racing" with "Eastenders" - bl**dy impossible! Mainly because Eastwotsits is impossible to watch in any circumstances.
-
Mainly because Eastwotsits is impossible to watch in any circumstances.
Disagree. I join the missus once every blue moon for an episode, and catch up within three minutes! :P

I'm in Dover Street this Saturday night following dinner at Just and cocktails at the Ritz. Swanky B'stard!
Want me to check out the 15th while I'm there or have you got it covered already Andy?

Provided you're sufficiently sober Steve, I think that would be a terrific idea. I guess we need a heads up on numbers.

Did someone mention Fillet Rossini and Sancerre.
Beef and white wine! Its almost as bad as a CA pissup in a smart and hence expensive Jazz bar

Yes and unfortunately he camps on MB, at least with the heathen but nonetheless MB, I'm mortified. Rob, next time we meet meat and wine combinations, I think ;D

Robbo, Will you be out and about in Pompey on the 2nd and 3rd of December? We are coming down for The Festival of Christmas in the Historic Dockyard. Bloody good value for a tenner, includes admission to the festival plus HMS Victory, HMS Warrior, The Mary Rose and all the museums. If you are about maybe we could meet up for a beer?

maybe this one would be better
http://www.historicdockyardevents.co.uk/acatalog/index.htm ;)
lets us know when and where, i'd be interested coming along, Bob.
-
Oops sorry about the date. We are going down on the Saturday morning and staying over night so we could meet up whenever it suits you Peter. We will most proberbly do the festival on the Saturday and use the Sunday for Crimbo shopping.
Thinking about it, it would be best to meet on saturday, you wouldn't want to get near Mrs BOB U when she is in full shopping mode. I will PM you nearer the date
-
so which day then ???
Why not do both. Thats the Le Mans way

Bob, I'be on nights, so will be in the city, but not allowed to drink.....
-

Why not do both. Thats the Le Mans way
That makes sense!! Piss Up in the pub on the 8th, and the refined dinner and music evening on the 15th!!
-
Any idea of numbers yet?
Who's going on the 8th?
Who's going on the 15th?
I'm definate for the 8th and 95% sure of the 15th.
Definate 8th. Definate 15th.
Bob.
Rick.
Gary.
-
The 8th will be deffo for me but the 15th will be a flying visit.
-
15th is now not possible for me as I'll be doing a similar thing but in Hampshire.
But the 8th is looking promising for a swiftish one or five.
I've completely lost the plot though, what/where is the venue for the 8th
-

Refined dinner and music. Yeah right! ::)
-
If you put this through Bablefish, and translate from Le Mans Speak to English....
"a kebab and Karaoke".
-
That makes sense!! Piss Up in the pub on the 8th, and the refined dinner kebab and music karaoke evening on the 15th!!
That seems to be about right
-
I love people who condemn things outright before they've even tried them. ;)
Those who know me well would, I hope, take me on trust that this music is as far from karaoke as it's possible to get. And if Rusty says the Dover Street Wine Bar is a good venue, then I'm inclined to believe him, unless anyone here knows anything to the contrary?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but as I understood the situation, we kinda all agreed the 8th would be the offical CA Xmas piss up in the pub. The 15th was put forward as an alternative for those who couldn't make the 8th and as I happened to be going to Dover St that evening anyway, I offered this as an open invitation if anyone fancied joining in with me and my pals. It was not an invitation to carp or bitch at a genuine offer. So to those who are interested, then I look forward to seeing you on the 15th. For those who aren't interested, then fine, I hope you all have a good time doing whatever it is you decide to do.
-
Hey but carping and bitching is what we all do best, Andy, as you well know! ;)
-
ANyone whose in the big smoke Tuesday 5th, my shift are out for the christmas doo.
We are trying either the circle line or monopoly board to ease ourselves into a coma...
I wont make the 8th as working ...
Have fun.;
-
OK, This Friday!
When:

Where:

Looks like me and you BOB!
Wake up everyone!!!

Not me, I'm afraid - going to France today for the w/e (weather permitting - I understand the ferries are not running right now though...)
Could be on for next week (is that still on?) but I am travelling back from Aberdeen Fri pm so will need to see how timings and logistics work out...
-
Not me, I'm afraid - going to France today for the w/e (weather permitting - I understand the ferries are not running right now though...)
Ferries were supposedly OK again, but it is blowing 9/10ths of a gale outside at present! best of luck.
-
Count me in, but it will depend when lunch ends
What time is kick off?
Why don't we do the Mitre is there's only 3 of us?
-

The mitre would be fine provided it is less then 10 of us. PM me if you want to meet up and i will exchange mobile numbers. I will be at the Mitre from 1631 if we choose there.

Have to say these days I always use the tunnel in winter, for that reason - even when the ships are operational, it's sick bags at the ready!

I crossed the Channel on the last boat out of Boulogne some years back. The sick bags on board were not enough. I shall leave the rest to your imagination. :o
Needless to say, good choice forking out the extra for the tunnel Smokes.
-
See you at the Argyle
Anything else is too compliated
-
Thanks for turning up Rick.
I managed to make lunch last till 5pm, bit pi$$ed though.
See you in June
-
So, is there a lash up tomorrow night?
-
I am at the company do! Why; I do not know but something told me to go to this? Must have been drunk at the time.
-
So, is there a lash up tomorrow night?
Well is there?
-
looks like a night of sobriety in the sticks then!
What happened to the night out, did the DfH weekend take it out of everyone too much?
-
Sorry guys, something happened at work, one of our clients sold out to a German firm and my presence was required at the back end of the week so no piss up for me. Not until yesterday anyway! Gahhh my head this morning, and now I'm just of to an xmas lunch at a Thai restaurant. Just what the doctor ordered to settle my stomach. Not.
God I hate Christmas. >:( :(
-
I have been working a million times harder this christmas then I ever intended to. Where have all the Polish gone?
-
Cleaning my car with any luck.
