Having opted out of the ACO lottery for camping tickets some time ago, I just thought I would share with you the fact that I have now had my allocation confirmed from a rather expensive but hopefully trustworthy sorce. :D
Just waiting to see what Grandstand tickets we are allocated from the ACO now. :-\
-
I thought those nice people at the ACO had posted the 'letters of disappointment' early when I read the thread title!
First couple of weeks in December, isn't it?
-
My 2006 letter (sorry, '05) was dated 21st December, if that helps.
-
Crikey! Good work that man! That reminds me I'd better get on to the ACO and get a ticket reservation in for 3 x MB and 2 x La gache grandstand seats.
-
Having sent my fax in March, I'd be bitterly disapointed if we'd be re-allocated to Beauséjour or Camping Bleu :-\
-
You want to get organised mate!
-
Yeah, maybe I should try and book for 2010 tomorrow! ;)
-
Booked mine in March but still unsure whether I am going or not, as I mentioned on another topic Condor are being complete shxts and not running from Guernsey until 16.30 Bastxxrds, they screwed Emeraude who were a French company and doing a great service.
This, mind you, is not the reason why I might not go however, I just want a bit more variety... I am sure a lot of you can understand that.
>Martini...
-
Why are all ferry companies complete wncrs
-

totally agree matey.. going to france friday and the first boat is 11.10, getting in at 1.30ish.. as much use as a choccy tea pot >:(
there is talk of another operator coming in on the southern route though... that'll put it up condor!! ;D
-
Well I'm delighted to say that I had an email this morning at 08.25. It was from the wonderful Caroline in the ACO booking office saying my MB allocation is obviously secure and I'll be receiving the confirmation and invoice in the post in a couple of weeks time. I like to think that Caroline and I have a kind of James Bond/Miss Moneypenny type relationship.
-
But does she bear as much resemblance to Miss Moneypenny as you do to James Bond?
;)
-
I'm very similar to Sean obviously, except for my hair. You do realise of course that Connery was a rug wearer in the later Bond films and that I would never stoop so low. As far Caroline is concerned, i think she looks more like the stunningly beautiful French actress Isabel Adjani.
-
Yeah, never did get the rug thing myself, Andy. What is that?
No wonder you like phoning her up, though. Especially when she tells you just what you want to hear. ;D
-
Just booked my ticket for Sebring, does that count? What with the dollar being so low, I thought the timing was about right... Also thinking about buying my $$s soon...
-
UPS have emailed to say a letter is on its way from Le mans!
So either the ACO have started to dispach tickets, or I have made the mother and father of cock ups, and ordered grandstand tickets for the Moto GP or bike 24hr instead of the car race tickets.
Fingers crossed.
-
I think you'll be ok.
The ACO website says tickets will be despatched from April 2007, providing they have been paid for.

;D ;D ;D - that made me chuckle ;D
I hear the bike race is quite nice although the campsites are a little rougher than the car 24.... ;)
-
I am pleased to say that the ACO have come up trumps and and I am now clutching 6 Grandstand tickets!
Not only that, but I have also been upgraded to my first choice stand.
;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Of to Threashers now with my Voucher for some well earned wine.

easy tiger!! Us bikers aint all that bad ;D
-
Tickets have arrived before the begining of April. The design of the camping tickets has changed
-
Tickets arrived today courtesy of UPS.
I thought at first that they had not included the camping tickets - what I thought was an information brochure turned out to be the new-style tickets. Gone are the days of spending hours trying to get the sticky bit off the windscreen - you've now got a tear-out 'hook' to hang it on the interior mirror.
Just trying to remember now who I sold them to!!
Del
-
Presumably now we'll be able to change cars - useful for us - or do you have to fill in reg' numbers etc.
I'll check back to my survey and see if they are arriving in any sort of order!
-
Presumably now we'll be able to change cars - useful for us - or do you have to fill in reg' numbers etc.
No 'boxes' or instructions to enter anything.
The only instructions are to tear out the hook bit and place it on the interior mirror - assuming that's what 'retroviseur' is!!
Del
-
Oi Del - how come you've got tickets already? You were one of the tail end Charlies after they lost your original application weren't you?
Is this bleeding alphabetical order so I wait to the end?
(I've got a little note of who I've bought from and sold too.....if only I could find it ;D)
-
It's certainly not in the same (pretty logical) order of the confirmations. Is it in grandstand/campsite order or something? It's certainly not about nearest first.... ;)

Maybe they're sending the tickets out in reverse order :D :D
Or maybe alphabetially (I'm an 'A')
Who cares - I've got mine

These tickets are for Bleu and Leonard, so no clues there.

Alpahbetical doesn't work either as I think Nordic's an "L"? Don't know about BG. Probably just dipping randomly into a box!
-
It just occured to me that my "How to get tickets" piece for the guide will need a bit of adjustment in view of the new-style camping/parking tickets. Can anybody who has got this year's scan them and send them to Werner so it can be up-dated?
-

Yep, I am an 'L' we only got our confirmation in March as well.
I guess they are just coming out in a random order.
-
Random and ACO are two expressions that seem made for each other.
-

BG is a "D". One question about the new camp tickets is "how do you attach them to a motobike"? Monsieur le controller used to insist that we attached the old ones to the screen.

And not get them nicked while it's parked?

Just as well that you had a screen!
-
If you don't have a screen, le controller's allow you to keep them in your pocket. ;D
-
I have a confirmation that something is coming from UPS - could it possibly be tickets ?!!! :o
I am a "C" and ordered by fax in ....umm.... August I think - for those studying the shipping patterns.
F
(P.S. Does anyone else's messages keep changing the order that they appear? - mine keep going back to front even tho I keep changing it back again on the profile)
-
Also just for thse trying to figure out the ACO's order receipt/shipping rationale (and to gloat a little of course ;)):
Our tickets for this year's event arrived on Tuesday after UPS notification last week.
Our original fax request for tickets was sent in May of last year.
My surname begins with 'B'

We got some of ours on Tuesday, again to a 'B', the others are to a 'J' so we'll see how long they take. The remainder were from an agent so god only knows.... :-\
Just as well I didn't order them - I'm a 'W' :P
Buck
-
I'm an 'L' and mine arrived about 2 weeks ago!
I doubt if it's in any order as I only ordered them early part of this year, but it was only grandstand tickets.
-
Steve; Mr Mod have you had your tickets in yet?
-
None for me yet. As a "W" I might as well get back under my rock for a few weeks...
Still got to find the note that explains where my tickets are coming from and going to ;D
-
Steve; Mr Mod have you had your tickets in yet?
Nope, I've been out all day, but there's a card on the mat from a failed delivery - not from UPS though ???
-
Sounds to me as if a bit of panic is setting in as usual. We have all had comfirmation so what's the problem? If they arrive the day before we set off what the hell. Calm down people. Pour yourselves a drink and chill.
-

Nah - I dont think its panic - its just part of the excitement and build up. Receipt of tickets is a big milestone in the preparation process...... :D
F
P.S. UPS couldnt deliver mine cos I was at work, so they will deliver to the office tomorrow!
-
on the ticket folder, is the building the replacement for the old ACO garden (ie for ACO members) or for corporate w*****s??
-

I was wondering that. I thought perhaps as it has 'Welcome' on it that it may be a supplement for the welcome centre situated at the back of the village. Mind you, as it is clearly and artists impression maybe it won't be there anyway....
-
maybe ternie could investigate!! ;D
-
I've not got the folder so I can't see where this new place is but certainly there is a new nenbers area in the plans for this year.
Ternie
-
Tickets arrived safe and sound. Surname begins with 'E' by the way.
Wil post to purchasers today, lucky people staying at HA.

also got an e-mail from ups today, a letter is announced for monday :D. My last name starts with "K"
-
I have just received an email from the ACO telling me my tickets are ready for collection, but I paid for delivery ??? ??? ???
Has anyone had any experiance speaking to the ACO on the phone. My french is limited to Oui, Non & Vin
-

Bieres! ;D
No really, you can ask for someone who speaks English. All French women at the office speak that much English.
Nothing here yet - but my surname starts with an S, so I just have to be patient...

I'm going in today. If you pm me within about an hour with your real name, I'll ask them for you. (Can't you add bierre to that list?)
-
I have just spoke to the ACO and they tell me its normal to receive this email ??? and my tickets will be sent by UPS in the coming weeks.

I ain't heard nothing from nobody :(
Such is the tradegy of being a Zarse...

I am sitting here mushroom like hoping for some Expo tickets. I now see that on the ACO web the Expo site is listed as 'not available' whereas the others as 'full'. Does anybody know what has happened to Expo? :-\
-

If you take a look at the plans
http://www.lemans.org/sport/sport/dossiers/travaux/ressources/plans/slides/plan_masse_1024.jpg
You will see that it is the new Welcome area, what used to be the little lawned area and restaurant, so yes, the former. The "logements" to the East are the corporate bits, as they were last year.
-
When I asked if my tickets were ready they said : "No not even printed yet. Etrangers - you lot - get them first. You're French now so you have to wait!"
-
Hmm... - I'm keen to see what's in store for us there. I could be wrong Termie, but is that where there was a very large hole in the ground last year?
H

Not a bad place to be buried though.
-
Heyyy!!
I've just checked out Google Earth and they've updated the crappy Landsatt imagery with some decent aerial stuff, - and there is my big hole!! Right where I remembered it. There also seems to be a UFO parked on the Bugatti circuit?
Ooooh, there goes the next hour...

It still exists, at least they sent me tickets for this site today.
-
I get the impression that the details were entered by different people - one put full and the other unavailable! At any rate, Expo is still there but fully booked.
-
Got my tickets for Bleu Nord - Zone G, wherever that is - with the note about Houx Annexe being fully booked, despite placing my order before last year's race.
Could be worse - a mate has just paid over £100 for a Bleu Nord ticket on ebay... a Houx Annexe ticket would have been double that. Someone is making a killing.
-
Thanks for the update. I guess I must be patient while the ACO works in its mysterious way. Cheers.

Have we all stopped getting excited about getting tickets or have they stopped issuing them?
Still nothing for me.... ???
-
Nor me (apparently we residents get them last anyway) but the mail-outs did stop on the immediate run-up to the Moto 24 hrs. I would guess they began again on Monday so I'd give UPS a day or two before pressing the panic button.
-

Still waiting here also.
With all the tickets I've paid for, maybe they're arranging a special armoured vehicle convoy ::)

Not me. Requested ticket allocation confirmed, paid for and acknowledged as so a long time ago.
-
The remaining camping passes from the agency and from fagey (Huge thanks!) have all arrived this week, so I'm in the happy state of not waiting for anything ticket wise at least.
-
Nothing here yet either, will contact ACO next week Thursday (when I come back from a long weekend France) if they still haven't arrived. Still plenty of time left then :)

Liverpool boys still waiting aswell but we are a W aphabetically that is

Mine arrived a week ago via Just Tickets... :P
-
My worry is Mr Brown has had his delivered!
-
Ours arrived on the 12th of April.
-
Is this Gospel then, the alphabetty bit?
I've always been a bit sceptical, and decided it was just us brits striving to attach some logic to the workings of the ACO. It would be interesting to see the initial of everyones surname, and the date their tickets arrived. I'm an S and I haven't got mine yet, mind you neither have I seen my father for ages, and I was just chatting to Xavier Xerxes the other day when.....
High on a hill stands a lonely goat!!!!!...- I just can't get it out of my head now, I'm going to have to break out the crinolene.
H
-
The alphabet idea looks spurious to me. I still think it's the stick your hand in the box and see what comes out first method, myself!
-
I've asked this on the Guide thread, but, anybody got a car park pass yet I could look at? Are they hangers like camping passes or stickers?
-
As it is all on computer(s) these days, it has to be in some kind of order, date/time or alphanumerically on something. Trouble is, what??
I'm an 'A' and was one of the first to get my tickets. If I was Mr Brown, I would be hovering very close to the panic button at this time, or at least reaching for the dog & bone to call those very helpfull people at the ACO.
Del

What you must realize Del is that Mr Brown is an HAer and as such is not prone to panicking. As I have stated many times, the inhabitants of that wonderful piece of real estate are a more serine group of campers and believe that a ticket to the promised land is well worth the wait. While all around us are losing their heads we sit calmly by, pour another drink and wait.

they are hangers to go on rear view mirror.. very dinky as well so cant see em lasting!

Which whilst true simply means that Steve is serene, and those (hopefully) destined for MB dash around in a mild stew for a while...

Here you are

Thanks Bob. Do the car park passes look the same, Fagey?
-
Oh dear, Oh dear. Is that the best an HA'er can do Mr U. Out of focus, not straight (or perhaps it is straight to an HA'er), and not even what the customer wanted (ie a parking ticket!!).
Nought out of 10 for that effort. :'( :'( :'(

I think nought's a bit mean!

Thanks Bob.
I have now entered a state of yogic calm and serenity.
In past years my tickets generally haven't turned up in April anyway. Then, sometime in May, a knock at the door and UPS wants my autograph.
I'm not perspiring and panicing yet, we've still got 6 weeks FFS.
Chill.

As you will notice, the hanging from the rear view mirror version is of little use to me. I need the "impossible to unstick from windscreen" version of previous years. It's bad enough trying to get the Speedferries hanging ticket to stay on.
-
So, do you prefer sellotape or blu-tac in the screen?
;D
-
I hope you dont think you can get away with parking like that on OUR red routes tomorrow mate!
;D
I reccomend the sellotape option, in your case with the five year lifetime guarantee.
Superglued in place.
I sorta think all we open cars users will need to do summat secure with our passes...
-
It'll be double sided tape, glued and bonded to the windscreen with a couple of rivets to hold the quarter inch steel plate welded to the frame and the electrified dog patrolled 10 foot high fence with the shark infested ditch around it (assuming the French let us use water this year).
You will also notice if you look through the windscreen how the red route conveniently stops, as I had a nice little red box to park in.
It allowed me to park safely after hours and Sundays. But it didn't stop me getting a ticket one Bank holiday Monday!

I have still not received my tickets from the ACO :( :( :(
Who else is still waiting for their tickets from the ACO ?
-
Most of us, I suspect. They've got us all twitchy because normally they haven't even begun to send them out yet! Mid-May at the earliest is the best I've ever done before. Patience, patience, this is French bureaucracy we are dealing with. Living here, I've kind of got used to it!! ;)
-
Good news, good news.
My tickets from the ACO arrived today.
To those who have tickets from me, I'll post them on when I'm back from my hols.

Blimey, Gary, you send your girlfriend flowers?
Steve, you've got mail. At least some of my people have got tickets then. :) It's that awful time when it's beginning to feel close but still too far away. PQ is a month today....
Wahay! ;D

Good news, good news.
My tickets from the ACO arrived today.
To those who have tickets from me, I'll post them on when I'm back from my hols.

Would that be your hols to central France sometime in mid June, by any chance ;D ;)

Blimey, Gary, you send your girlfriend flowers?

Got my tickets Today ;D MB here i come
-
I can announce the tickets what I ordered have arrived. I am mildly pleased to note this fact, but it is tempered by my irritation with UPS.
-
[Marvin voice] I'm still waiting...[/marvin voice]
-
me too ???
-
This is what I got this morning, after mailing them Friday afternoon...
Dear Sir,
You will receive your tickets within 2 or 3 weeks.
Best regards,
Service Réservation / Booking Office
Oh well, otherwise they would be lying in my draw anyway... ;D
-
9th May and still waiting ??? ???
-
Glad I'm not the only one - 12th and waiting, getting nervous now...
-
Last year mine arrived on the Monday of PQ week. Chill. :)
-
Got a reply yesterday ( 11th ) from the ACO office which said my tickets would be dispatched in the next few WEEKS !!!!
-

Problem is, most of the tickets I am receiving are needed by others, not me! And you know what the post service is like...
-
Ours landed on our great leader's doormat last week ;D
MG Mark
-
We've now got the ones I've had from Powermite (I think he had to force himself to put them through our letterbox ;D). Still waiting for confirmation that the ones I'm selling on are on their way....
-
Ive been told the UPS man has mine, but when will he deliver???????
-
Patience paid off, tickets are in! (http://forum.drinkingforholland.com/images/smiles/icon_woohoo.gif)
-
Had a not-very-encouraging call with the ACO yesterday where she said they will be posted soon. On pressing her, she checked and said I hadn't paid for postage. I pointed out confirmation snail mails had been sent to me conforming change of my original arrangements (which I thought at the time might be risky). She rather off-handedly then said OK they will be sent out sometime, but I wasn't convinced...
So I'm now looking at binning a £90 flight for the Mrs to go to Aberdeen that weekend in favour of popping down for test w/e to ensure I get them... will cost a few brownie points though...
-
UPS ,they said delivered today, couldnt find it!!!!!!!
friendy neighbour had it SAFE,
i just cant wait
-
My tickets arrived last week, I was on the reserve list though, Hopefully my camping tickets are sitting on my desk at work thanks to steve.
-
Sweet Jesus!
That lovely man from UPS has just dropped off our tickets, and what a bundle they are!!
I do have rather a lot of Zone D Maison Blanche ones though, when Zone B has been our home for more years than Ronnie Corbett has inches, and that's where we'll be heading, so let's hope they don't enforce it, or there'll be hell to pay, or at least bribes.
Mind you, I've seen no official literature anywhere telling us where these zones are, so how the hell are we meant to know? - if they put posts and signs up I can't see them lasting long.
Also, D's further to cycle...

Knowing the good people at MB, they will put up the signs on friday afternoon, when everyone has already settled in ;D

Like they decided to start spray painting pitches on the ground last year and the year before. They started on the gravel area by the entrance and by the time they had finished there everywhere else was taken! ;D
-
Mine arrived yesterday morning.
So see all of you there next month.
-
Well I had just put the finishing touches to persuading the wife that she didn't really want to visit Aberdeen on test weekend after all (costing one airline ticket), and booking Speedferries (costing a return ticket) just to ensure that my tickets were on time and surprise surpise - they have turned up in the post... UPS man apparently wanted a signtaure but lucky timing meant my daughter was there to do the deed.
So I have either a useless flight to Aberdeen (use it or lose it, but can be altered for £30 I think) or a useless ferry ticket.
I expect I will go to Test, as I've already been through the grief barrier about cancelling her little holiday...
-
Smokie
You could 'bank' the Speedferry ticket. I will use the 'banked' ticket from when we got bounced off SF last year on my outbound trip this year.
Good news about your tickets though - I was sweating with you. If you can get mine in the post, I would be grateful as I have to forward them to others in my group.
Cheers

Our Tickets are now in hand so the Liverpool Boys are confirmed as residents on zone B Maison Blanche

It was already a 25/12 ticket, I guess I can return it to that status (but I'd sooner go to Test).
Will deal with tickets over the w/e, exepcting to get them in the Royal Mail Special Delivery on Mon. Del - just to be safe, PM me your address again just in case I've lost it on my home PC (I lost my entire Inbox 2 weekends ego...)
-
Steve B I've got the tickets now thanks. All I need now are the ones from the ACO. They weren't kidding when they said the French ones would be done last...
-
I've not had mine either (well I've had mine from PM but not the ones that are going elsewhere...)
Ho hum...must be patient I suppose...
-
And there I was, catching up with CA, and my nice neighbour appeared brandishing a UPS envelope. Whoopee, all ready and just two weeks to go! :) :) :)
-
Wooo hoooo ;D
I've got an email from UPS - mine should be here on Monday ;D
They'll be incoming to the recipient shortly afterwards ;D

Well....given that this female has his tickets - he might want to communicate with this female before I stick 'em on ebay ;D

Finally all tickets that are due to land on my doorstep have done so. They have also been sent on to those that are due tickets from me.
The only one I'm really short of is an MB Zone 'A' from Stu but he won't get that till he arrives in Le Sarthe. So can you guys that are there Monday make sure he doesn't leave town before I get there on Wednesday. :D
If anyone else wants to swap a Zone 'A' For Zone 'B' plese let me know.

Tickets via MRI arrived today. Panic over. We're in MB Zone C, arriving on Wednesday afternoon so I guess we'll see what happens when we get there.

Tickets arrived this morning. Bleu Sud zone A. Hope there will still be room when we arrive thurs aft- that part of Bleu is usually packed by then leaving us to 'rough it' in that field above.
Question- as the pass no longer sticks to the screen and hangs from the mirror- is this so it can be inspected or scanned? Its just we have no mirror and are thinking of sticking it to the glass instead. Any thoughts?

they will apparently be scanning the barcode on entry and exit (to avoid passes being used twice). I'd imagine they will be able to scan through the glass but you might want to take a view once you get there?
-
Its a shame they no longer stick to the glass, they were always like a badge of honour on the way home and a reminder of good times as post LM life returned.
-
Still got last year's stuck to the windscreen.
Tickets arrived today - 10 for MB zone C.
-
The van has the remnants of 4 years worth of passes- the angle of screen twixt dash means i cannot get the baked on gluey bit off. Tried everything but kinda like it now.

You should order some CA stickers then Mr SF - I've still got a few left.

So what happens when they get piissed off of scanning the bar codes of people leaving to go shopping or they are taking a leak or miss you on the way out but then scan you on the way back in but it tells them that you are already on the camp site. I can see this happening and it leading to arguments etc and possibly a few people ending up on the floor !

Absolutely, if you read my (many!) other posts on the subject I've said that what will be important for each of us will be making sure Pierre scans you on the way out whenever you leave the site.
-
Would be suprised if mine scanned- quality of printing is poor.
-
Well.
What about when the tea lady kicks the three pin plug out of the wall?
What about when the battery goes flat in the scanner.
I assume the scanner will be wireless if not then there is the problem of someone catching the cable in the wing mirror.
How will he scanner stand up to one of those downpours they have from time to time.
Have you tried to tear the paper the Camping Tickets are made from? The ones of previous years had the flimsy sticky bits so you couldn't detach them from the window without wrecking them. I guess the new one are going to need guarding more closely as I would guess posession wil be all.
