Title: Test weekend 2007 Post by: Christopher on December 13, 2006, 02:04:36 pm Been away for a bit so might have missed this discussion....... Has the test weekend been confirmed as the 02nd-03rd June? What campsites will be available for those attending? Anyone going? Title: Re: Test weekend 2007 Post by: termietermite on December 13, 2006, 02:07:45 pm Click on calendar above then June '07 and all the dates are there.
Title: Re: Test weekend 2007 Post by: Fran on December 13, 2006, 02:14:23 pm I seem to recall that none of the campsites are open for test weekend. A few people seem to kip in the car parks tho.

That was closed just after the pre-qual weekend (can't remember when) and the campsites then opened for the race weekend proper on the Monday before the race as normal.
It was not possible to camp for pre-qual and stay on the ACO campsites until the main sites opened. It is worth considering the municipal campsite at Spay (search it, I'm sure we've discussed it previously) which is cheap and cheerful, has good facilities and is about 3km from the circuit (or is it 5?). You can then stay there until moving onto the ACO sites if that floats your boat. (of course if you're coming home after pre-qual most of that is useless to you ;D) Title: Re: Test weekend 2007 Post by: Christopher on December 13, 2006, 02:34:41 pm I last went in 2003 or 2004, can't remeber exactly, and we just drove upto the main gate, showed our tickets and got directed through the tunnel, told to turn left and camp on any bit of grass we could find. But that bit of grass has now gone due to the alterations. There were others camping there also, so i assumed it was the norm. Title: Re: Test weekend 2007 Post by: rcutler on December 13, 2006, 02:42:32 pm Last year did they no make part of BSJ avaliable for people staying over between the two? I seem to remember in 2005 that is where they tried to send us on Sunday night before getting on to MB.

I seem to remember in 2005 that is where they tried to send us on Sunday night before getting on to MB. Don't know Rick, their official response was that there was only Houx and that would be closed after the weekend. I don't know whether the reality was any different..... Title: Re: Test weekend 2007 Post by: Christopher on March 05, 2007, 02:44:45 pm ACO have just got back to me and confirmed that none of 'their' campsites will be open for testing weekend. They have been in the past, but not anymore. So, is anyone else going to test weekend and where are you staying? I am planning to go for test weekend (arrive Saturday, leave Monday), and then return nine days later for the race. http://www.lmes.net/2007/uk/index.asp Quote PAUL RICARD (F) Above text has been removed for a while now from their site. OFFICIAL TESTs 25th-26th March Season 4 – This is the fourth pre-season meeting for the Le Mans Series at the Paul Ricard HTTT circuit. We presume that this session of Official Tests will provide the first laps for the Peugeot 908 amongst its challengers Six hundred fans will have the privilege to attend the first time testing laps achieved by their favourite teams on this circuit usually closed to the public. Actually the circuit will offer a full package... More to come soon! All that remains is More to come soon!, even up to today. Typical LMS-site - even the contenders list isn't published yet, although the venue is in three weekends time :-\ Title: Re: Test weekend 2007 Post by: smokie on March 05, 2007, 05:32:09 pm I was planning on Test Weekend again but work has got in the way, and I will be in Aberdeen, so Mrs S is going to come up there for that weekend instead.
We had planned to stay at the Ibis Le Mans Centre - I have a booking (Fri/Sat, E196 total) if anyone needs it, but be quick!! Title: Re: Test weekend 2007 Post by: termietermite on March 05, 2007, 06:03:20 pm I'm going to Ricard. Anybody else?
Title: Re: Test weekend 2007 Post by: Kpy on March 05, 2007, 06:23:25 pm I'm going to Ricard. Anybody else? Are you talking about the test weekend, Termie? I thought Ricard was a VIP only spectator circuit. I haven't been there since the French GP 1980.Title: Re: Test weekend 2007 Post by: Paddy_NL on March 05, 2007, 06:45:36 pm I'm going to Ricard. Anybody else? Some of the PlanetLeMans boys will. I think a letter from her solicitor would be waiting on my return if I'd go there the weekend after Sebring :-\ A shame though they still haven't got their act together at the LMS organisation, regarding my earlier post today. Have you got an invitation, Termie? Title: Re: Test weekend 2007 Post by: termietermite on March 05, 2007, 07:16:32 pm I'm going to Ricard. Anybody else? We had planned to stay at the Ibis Le Mans Centre - I have a booking (Fri/Sat, E196 total) if anyone needs it, but be quick!! Thanks for the offer of taking over your booking, but there are four of us, and we need to be a little budget concious becasue of returning for the race weekend. Anyone know any commercial campsites within sensible walking distance of the circuit? If not then we are off to Spey (or is it Spay?) Title: Re: Test weekend 2007 Post by: Piglet on March 06, 2007, 10:01:26 am Anyone know any commercial campsites within sensible walking distance of the circuit? If not then we are off to Spey (or is it Spay?) It's Spay. Termie might be of more use but the only other campsite we found was http://bountylemans.com/page19.html I know nothing about it but if it's the place we looked at last year for the Moto 24 it's owned by a Brit. Spay is lovely though, very French! Title: Re: Test weekend 2007 Post by: termietermite on March 06, 2007, 10:33:48 am Really I think that Spay is your best bet. A nice alternative is
http://www.chateau-de-chanteloup.com/ which isn't within walking distance but given that the practice does not go on to late, it's possible to do the car journey (abt 30 minutes). There's often a team in residence in the actual Chateau too! Title: Re: Test weekend 2007 Post by: Christopher on March 06, 2007, 11:28:14 am Really I think that Spay is your best bet. There's often a team in residence in the actual Chateau too! That looks good and sounds nice.......but if my better half finds out I'm going there for test weekend after subjecting her to the delights of KN for the past few years during race weekend......I'll be strung up! Looks like we will head to Spay for test weekend, as one of our group has stayed there before. Title: Re: Test weekend 2007 Post by: termietermite on March 06, 2007, 11:55:22 am I take your point Christopher! However, might be something to think about when you take your O/H next year. Good if you have a partner who's not so into the racing as there's plenty to do. I have friends who've stayed there a couple of times and they love it (non-racing types, if you can imagine such a thing.)
