Post by: nopanic - neil on December 14, 2006, 02:44:42 pm
look at this, should I put it on my list?

Beer Machine
Price, from £89.99

The Beer Machine 2000 is the ultimate small batch brewing apparatus for the discerning beer drinker. The fastest, freshest way to brew your own light beers, dark beers, ales and lagers, now you can enjoy pub quality beer at a fraction of the cost in the comfort of your own home, in just 7 to 10 days.

The micro brewery makes around 20 pints a batch, producing beer that is richer in aroma due to its freshness, and made of entirely natural ingredients. You can even control the alcohol content.

Everything you need is included in the kit: beer mix, yeast, CO2 bulbs and defoamer disk, plus two pub-style tap handles for you to customize.

The carbonation unit allows you to control ‘beer head’, and the unit is the ideal size to keep in your fridge for the perfect chilled homemade pint. Cheers!

Saw one of those kits at a steam fair a couple of years ago.  Looks like a lot of hard work, but the finished item was awesome.  They did some other kits (traction engines and the like) but that tank was very impressive.

But best, is it would scare the Jehovah’s Witnesses away!  ;D

You've done well to get hold of one, Deb.  I understand they are in short supply.
I quite fancy one of the new 70-300 VR lens. http://www.dpreview.com/news/0608/06080901nikonafs70-300vrlens.asp

Yup, I'm told that people are bringing them in from Japan etc then selling them on e-bay one at a time at inflated prices -typical!  I just happened to wander into my freindly camera shop in LM and there it was.  Should have stayed at home...

just a small thing on ebay.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MASERATI-MC12-JANUARY-2005_W0QQitemZ260067722422QQihZ016QQcategoryZ18187QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

With a starting bid a bit high, I think I'll have to look for a few coins that have fallen down the sofa.

The last couple of camera I've bought via the internet have come from France - is it any cheaper over there, and iIs there a decent and/or cheap camera shop at Le Mans?

Decent, yes, cheap, no.  My guy is a Nikon specialist though so I can talk real turkey with them.  The prices are pretty much on a par with the UK.  I find Pixmania (French company but with a UK site) pretty reasonable for internet prices.  On the other hand, I paid about £50 less than Aperture Photographic are asking for said lens.  The critical bit was that they had one (they also had a D40 which I had trouble keeping my hands off....)

For mini lovers

and on the hour, the car revs and comes out the garage and wizzes around the clock.

Stupid, but fun.

Thanks Termie.  I use Pixmania, they're very good and its odd that they ship from France, and throw in an adapter plug, even if it doesn't need one.

But a pocket sized manual in English would be useful.  My first real camera had 5 knobs.  The DSLR has 17 plus several menus - I'm easly lost.

I download mine (manuals) from the internet when I'm too lazy to translate but not exactly pocket sized!  The manufacturers will often cough one up though.
