Hi, brand new here so please take this as constructive comment but I have to say that although there is nothing particularly wrong with my eyes I find the security characters when sending a PM extremely difficult to decipher and had to refresh several times to get an even moderately readable set.
Additionally the readaloud seems flaky only reading the first 3 or 4 characters whether I use the direct link or not.
Finally the site doesn't seem to like alternative browsers. I use Maxthon which is only an overlay for IE but on sending a PM instead of the confirmation page I am rewarded with a new blank page containing nothing but a string of €€€€€€€'s.

Welcome Biskitboy.
I'm sorry but I haven't a clue what you're talking about, but I dare say someone will be along soon who can clarify things for me and improve them for you :-\
but welcome anyway.

Hi Biskitboy,
Welcome.
There are some warnings in the HTML code but it shouldn't cause any real problems. Have you tried using vanilla IE or Firefox?
I'm not sure what readaloud is is that a text speach thing?
What security characters when sending a PM?

This is what I'm talking about:

Ironically this set of characters is readable first time round however, even using plain IE, the "Listen to the Letters" facility still falters after 3 or 4 characters.
Not a massive problem as I'm unlikely to be sending regular PM's and now I know there is an issue (for me at least) I'll use IE if neccessary. Just thought I'd mention it as others may have experienced it but not felt moved to comment.
Cheers

I've send several PM's to sevral people last weeks, and I've never had this confirmation box? ???

It says DEEXT..........................................I think.

Hi This is really Lawnmower Man. :-)
I see what you mean.
I just created this new user and see the verification text.
I'm only guessing but I think it will go away once you have made a few more postings or when you have been a member for a little longer. But it may need the help of a moderator. I think it's an anti spam thing.
If Smokie or Steve could may be able to tell us more.

It's part of the new member sign up procedure. We were hit by a great deal of spam some months ago. The security procedures were upgraded to prevent this. Have you ever tried to get into Aldermaston ;)
Now you are in, you won't need to take part is this again.

No Steve as a new user you have to do the verification when you PM.
This is not the same one as when you sign up.

Yes, the default is set to 5 forum posts before verification is no longer required.
So Biscuitboy, get that post count up and you won't need to complain again.
