Title: Pictures Post by: stuey on February 22, 2007, 03:02:18 pm Since the site has been upgraded the way pictures embedded in messages behave seems to have changed.
It used to work like: If logged in the picture opened automatically If not logged in there was a hyperlink to the picture Now it works like: If logged in there is a hyperlink to download the picture If not logged in there is no reference to the picture. Is it me, is their a profile setting that I can change? The new behaviour is a pita! I've done a bit a looking into. All the setting under the dash are correct. The problem (again) lies with using the 'old' Forum or Board Default theme that 2151 members are using - this also manifests itself in the 'new post' problem and others.
Using either the SMF Default (13 members) or default with ClubArnage modifs (8 members) themes solves this (and many other) problems. Here's a screen capture of my earlier post above (with a photo in it) using each style of theme. Forum or Board Default (no picture displayed) (http://farm1.static.flickr.com/168/398932915_5df4453fc0.jpg) SMF Default or default with ClubArnage modifs (picture is displayed ;D ) (http://farm1.static.flickr.com/131/398932917_0b2c68378d.jpg) Title: Re: Pictures Post by: Steve Pyro on February 22, 2007, 07:14:34 pm So, my suggestion to each and every one is to modify your display theme to SMF Default or default with ClubArnage modifs
You'll soon get used to the slightly different appearance - and you'll be able to look at all the lovely pictures I upload ;D How to 'fix it' here - http://www.clubarnage.com/forum/index.php?topic=6625.0 (http://www.clubarnage.com/forum/index.php?topic=6625.0) and http://www.clubarnage.com/forum/index.php?topic=6610.0 (http://www.clubarnage.com/forum/index.php?topic=6610.0) Do it NOW. Title: Re: Pictures Post by: Bob U on February 22, 2007, 07:28:05 pm Slightly different Appearance? It's a whole new world. I like the way the stickes are highlighted. Thanks Steve

Title: Re: Pictures Post by: nopanic - neil on February 23, 2007, 12:26:12 pm How do you make the picture on the left (that looking at the screen - Left) display completely.
My picture give me 1/2 a van (now called Eric) and Andy pic, all you see is a man walking across part of the screen, and not what he's up to. Title: Re: Pictures Post by: Steve Pyro on February 23, 2007, 03:48:01 pm How do you make the picture on the left (that looking at the screen - Left) display completely. My picture give me 1/2 a van (now called Eric) and Andy pic, all you see is a man walking across part of the screen, and not what he's up to. I investigated this before. This is what happens - previously, with the old theme layout, you could post as big an avatar as you wanted. The result of this is that your post would over run the width of your displayed screen size (depending on screen resolution) and you may end up with a horizontal scroll bar on your post. Now, with the new theme layout, the post size 'over rules' the size of the avatar, with respect to your screen resolution. (eg. I'm using a screen resolution of 1024 x 768). So, if you display a large avatar, the post width will produce scroll bars on large avatars. Try to reduce your avatar pixel size to 150 wide (by a corresponding height) - it should display completely without scroll bars then. Title: Re: Pictures Post by: Lawnmower Man on February 23, 2007, 03:52:03 pm How do you make the picture on the left (that looking at the screen - Left) display completely. This is a case of, You can please all of the people some of the time. You can please some of the people all of the time. But You can't please al of the people all of the time. The width of the avatar in the "SMF Default" and "default with Club Arnage modifs" limits the width of the avatar to a percentage of the browser window. Personally I prefer the way "SMF Default" and "default with Club Arnage modifs" imposes a limit. It makes the layout of each thead and also each page ot the thread consitant. I'd not complianed about the "old" way I just lived with it. Now we have the limited display I would not want to loose it. So it depends what you want. Unless all of the styles use unlimited width for the avatar you can't be sure others will see all of your avatar. To be sure your pic is displayed full it needs to be moved to your signature. This is how I did it. Code: They say life begins at 40.I say life begins at 4O'clock. t. So as I understand it, I need to reduce my avatar, no problems. Next question - How do you do it ? mines a pain as its a nice GIF. P.S. For the record - everyone is doing a great job on this site, ;D Title: Re: Pictures Post by: Lawnmower Man on February 23, 2007, 08:57:34 pm Sorry Mr Lawnmower Man, was not a moan, just making sure I had my settings correct. The last time (many years ago) I tried to resize a gif movie, it turned in to a static gif. I just tried imagemagik and it resizes gif movies. :) t. |
